The Truth About Wild Swimming in Scotland: A Midge Horror Story
Great vid! I ran past here during the half marathon trail run to Porthmadog and mentally marked it for a swim. So glad I found your video. I’m there this weekend 😎
Hope you enjoy! It was a balm to a busy mind 🙂
Hi Christine and buddy Typical signs like that everywhere. Ignore cause you can argue, like us, that we are simple fish! Wanted to send you an email, but it wont give me access, typical RUclips these days. Just for a social and general camera chat between us all. Time permitting i know !! Our freshwaterdiver email should be available i hope. ❤from Paul & Kathy just a few miles away.
Hi Guys, I'll send you an email :) x
I have to wonder what the other tourists and Canadian think of your ability to swin in freezing waters 🤣🤣 "Are you really going in!?" - just got my answer as i type in real time 🤣🤣great stuff The colour of the water is incredible 😍 Have a great day from Paul & Kathy in GB 🤝👍😊soz to hear about the issues with the cameras Christine. Bummer.
:) It all got fixed in the end! Good job I had travel insurance. Lots more videos with my new Ozzy the Osmo in future. :) Yes, when I was swimming in Lake Louise, I had at least four people comment on the temperature of the water. I got the same curious looks as I do here :D lol
Thanks for sharing the magic of Peyto & Bow Lake team Christine👍😊 Trust you had a great time in Canada. Wishing everyone success and happiness this weekend. Have a great day from Paul & Kathy in GB 🤝👍😊 Always full watch for our subscribed friends👍
Thanks, it was a great trip to Canada. Still haven't really took it all in! Thanks for watching :) x
Looks very peaceful and quiet ❤👍🏻
It was so quiet, just what I needed!
good to see you have shoes on entering the water , very brave entering that cold water , i gingerly enter the water in summer Australia with a water temp of 15c
I always wear my swim shoes, you never know what you are going to stand on when you enter the water. 15c sounds balmy :)
Awesome! Lucky you! 👍💪😁
Thanks! 😃
Spread your wings, what a video! Go Canada 🍁
Glad you enjoyed the video ❤️
A truly stunning and spectacular swim.
It was a beautiful place 😍
That looks chilly and I live here! Congrats on jumping in!
It was fresh :D
Thank you for sharing this. I can believe how beautiful this looks. It must have been amazing to get in a view from the water. Any other swimmers in? I am sure people thought you were crazy :-) I've only just got my Lumi down to 5 degrees, wow that must have been fresh to swim in. Once again than you for sharing.
Hi, no swimmers when I was in the water, but then it was a wet, cold day, so the weather wasn't that inviting. Being on holiday, I just had to take the dip. There were many more swims in the area I could have done but time and tiredness stopped them. Glad you liked the scenery! :)
Your videos are so well put together
Thank you, it takes a while :)
How beautiful. I can't get over the color of the water. Enjoy your time in Canada!
Thank you, we did. Been back home a month now, just taking longer to get though the videos.
Thanks for sharing your pod-vlog with us once again - great fun.👍😊 Wishing everyone success and happiness this weekend. Have a great weekend from Paul & Kathy in Cumbria 🤝👍😊
Thanks guys!
Christine. That was awesome. But what a stupid name for the lake, Lake Minnewanka! 🤣🤣 Wishing you both a great weekend Hope your UFO is fixed Plenty of ET's flying around in Cumbria just now, mainly over the West coast around Whitehaven and Workington area. Best times seem to be 10pm - 11pm. Have a great weekend from Paul & Kathy in Cumbria🤝👍😊
Thanks guys, haven't been in the pod for a week as I've been unwell with a bad cold. Will be back in the cold water soon. :) x
Love it ! Well jel
Glad you enjoyed 😉
All good advice thank you for taking the time to make this and share. Makes me want to be back in the Lake District.
Thanks for your comment. Glad you enjoyed the video 😊
Never been a huge fan of the inflatables. There’s a company called Manchester ice baths I think they’re called. Might be worth a look if you’re looking to upgrade. Looking forward to the rest of the Canada content. Must have been amazing
Thanks. I'll look them up. Sadly after 18 months the I atable ring and lid seem to be failing. 😪

Thanks for showing us the magic of Bowscale tarn. Aw the poor fishy 🤣😜 Wishing everyone success and Happiness this week! Have a great week from Paulo & Kathy in GB 🤝👍✊
Glad you enjoyed the video x
Stunning ! Love scenery like that in the backdrop, iconic and intimidating. 👍🏻❤️
It was cold!
@@WildSwimmingwithChristine fair play to ya for getting in 👍🏻❤️
Wow looks amazing, the water is crystal clear 👌
It really is!
Beautiful 👍🏻❤️
Thank you! 😊
@@WildSwimmingwithChristine lakes not too bad either 🤣🥰
🤣
Lake of spirits. Oh no, if it's not the Holy Spirit, that's divination.
Didn't see any spirits, but the indigenous people believed it was spiritual. It was a beautiful place and swim :)
Its beautiful and pls dont stop uploading
It was beautiful and thanks, I've a few more swims from the area so share :)
I just fill my bath full of cold water. ❤
That will do just right 😊
Canada ❤
But where in Canada? 😊
@@WildSwimmingwithChristine what do I win if I guess right……I’ll go Montreal ?
I was going to say Greenland to swim In the ice !
I’ve been trying to work out which lake you can step in off the steps at dorothea. And stumbled across your video. Happy birthday for 9 months ago! We are going there Thursday (tomorrow). If you are on google maps is it the lower one to the left that’s long or the middle rounder one? ❤️
Hi sorry just seen this message. It was the bigger of the two pools. Hope you got to visit there. Did you have a nice swim?
Looks beautiful. How did you check temperature of water?
Hi I have a thermometer, which I lost after this swim. It was about 12 degrees. Brrr.
@@WildSwimmingwithChristine I took the children's bath thermometer as it floats - I just wondered if the wild swimming community had something more specific. Thank you for your time replying and your content.
Wish I had ticked off Derwent Water too while I was there now. That looks a nice spot does it have a name, I will go next year. My kids where like Ollie when I went in the water . . . didn't want me to leave them!
The bay is called Calfclose Bay. The Millenium Stone is there too. Hope you visit again. Derwentwater is my favourite 😍
@@WildSwimmingwithChristine Perfect I have made a note for next year. Derwent is beautiful. Where we stay looks out over it, magical. Now I just need to get in and swim. We always take a boat ride 🙂
From starting cold water therapy with Lumi I took my first wild dips just last week in Bassenthwaite adn Buttermere. Love the lakes and Keswick. I will keep watch for other places you recommend in the lakes now. Sadly 49 weeks until we are back there.
Two great lakes to start your journey. Buttermere is beautiful. Have a look at my old videos. Lots of swims in the Lakes to do. Happy swimming x
@@WildSwimmingwithChristine Buttermere was beautiful, it shelves quickly so easy to get in and out and was so clear. Definitely worth walking a little further around to the wooded section as it is much quieter. Bassenthwaite was murky after lots of rain and was a really wet and windy day, but the water was lovely. Thank you for sharing all your swims. I will work through your old video and make a 'bucket' list of swims. All the best.
@@rcBitz thanks for your comments and support x
Ha ha ha! Love it! The water looks fantastic. 👍😁
Thank you 😁 It was fun :)
Cool vid. You got an insta account?
Thanks, yes I am on instagram: instagram.com/christine_lucas_2017/
any update?
I've only hsd time to get in the pod once since using the cover. The temperature was a few temps lower than the outside. Seems to be working OK at moment.
Hello Christine Well done on getting to Red Tarn. I haven't been there, it is the other side of the Lakes from where I live. The other Red Tarn will seem a breeze when you get round to it. It is only up about 130m and 1.5km walk from the top of Wrynose pass. The tricky bit will be finding somewhere to park at the top of the pass, but at the right time of the day you will be OK. Technically the highest named tarn is Foxes Tarn on Scafell, but you won't be swimming there it's very small. It is also a job and a half to get to see ruclips.net/video/ZFtP8d_767k/видео.html . Many thanks for the nice videos.
Thanks Andrew, yes don't think I'll be going to Foxes Tarn anytime soon but could look at the other Red Tarn 😊
@@WildSwimmingwithChristine To save you the effort and the disappointment of not being able to swim in Foxes Tarn here is a not very good video. Even with all the rain I think it would only wet your ankles and not your knees ! ruclips.net/video/TLTrR12szPw/видео.html
Do you have a link to the lightweight poncho, please?
Sorry I forgot to add the link to the description for the waterproof poncho. dryrobe.com/products/dryrobe-waterproof-poncho?variant=40509586145360 It's found on the Dryrobe webpage and there's adult and child versions. Hope you like it? :)
Hi Christine I like the golden day out ! Have you visited the Clerk and Bishop at the Swan Hotel which is not far from your swim spot ? The Clerk is easy but I think I only have been to the Bishop once a long time ago.
Hi Andrew, I've visited neither, something for the to do list :)
👍👍
I enjoyed watchingy set up the pod/tub! I've seen these but live in an apartment so for now I do the plunge in my bathtub or go to Lake Michigan. The lake is warm now but cools off fairly quickly in the fall.
I live in a city so can't always get to the Lakes, a pod is better than nothing. A bath or cold shower is just as good 👍
Wow well done for making the effort, especially as were not feeling great. Thanks for sharing, it looks incredible.
Thanks so much!
Yay she’s back ! ❤ hope you’re well
I'm doing ok. Life gets in the way sometimes x
If your ever in sunny Wales and need some help finding a good location send me a message would happily show you the good locations As for my bag of swim bits well its a bit scarce compared to you a foam kneeling pad to stand on some towels and my trusty Speedos

Scotland us beautiful 😍
From parking on the road how far is it to walk to Devoke Water? Thinking of taking my kayak on there but wondering how far I'll have to carry it from car to water's edge.
Thanks for your comment. I'd say about 10 to 15 minutes walk to the Lake. It's not long and wasn't a difficult walk underfoot. Enjoy your day out! 😊
What did you sprinkle in it?
Hi, I sprinkled in 10g of bromine granules
Hey. Just found your video while searching for how to clean my lumi. How did you work out 10g of bromine granules? Do the granules dissolve in the cold water ok since they’re advertised for hot tubs?
Hi. Thanks for the comment. My partner did the math. Numbers are not my strong suit. He calculated the volume of water in Pod and then the amount of granules and it came out as 10g. I use 10 to 15g, depends if its hot or not. Hope this helps?
