    Have you noticed a drop in bird populations in the last 5 years? My junkos are down from about 13 to 3, after being 13ish for years, the robins came through in the fall, maybe 10% of what they used to be, and when I see the late-season flocking of the blackbirds, they used to stretch for a mile- thousands and thousands, this fall I saw a flock of about 80. Crows are down about 30% too. The flock of 5 is 3. Trumpeter swans are up, I guess I saw 33 in the field next to my house a week ago. But overall, I have noticed a drop, could be the drought over the last few years, could be a lot of things I guess. I don't see worms on the street when it rains either, so...

    I used to live in South Eastern Michigan in the 1960s. I loved walking through the lush forest lands along a creek tributary of the Saline River near Saline Michigan. The creek Channel meandering through stands of ash trees and beach inter spaced with oak. The creek supported numerous fish and small mammals residing along its banks. I loved this creek run being picturesque and a refuge for local wildlife. Finally, around 1970, the county decided to straighten the channel and to remove the entire forest and ecosystem around it. It was heartbreaking. No longer fish, no longer the many frequented birds, no longer the many fox, squirl, raccoon, and deer. The water now ran brown from exceesive open field run off. No longer the normal crystal clear water that once ran over bolders and small sand bars. The system now frequently floods in winter and bone dry in the summer. The county calls it progress. I call it the death of the environment. Government is rarely correct, and in this case, a scourge on our environment!

    Acid mine drainage. Sulfides in the rocks leach the sulfur and make sulfuric acid which leaches metals out of the rock and riverbed. Probably not safe for consumption without a serious filter.

    I'm from Kentucky; my Daddy's kin are Muhlenberg County. People don't understand how coal mining destroys everything it touches. It poisons the water and the land. It poisons the air which in turn poisons the trees and crops. The poisons are then filtered out with rain thus poisoning new land hundreds of miles from the mine. Some of the poisons are absorbed by plants growing in the bad soil and pass the poisons on up the food chain when they are eaten by livestock and humans. The poisons collect in various organs . . . And the story continues. I'm sorry for your land, sir. I hope someday the people in power decide to put forward the necessary moneys to fix it. (Personally, I think the Peabodys should help pay to reclaim the land.) But this will not happen until we, the people, vote for persons who love our country more than money. Thank you for this video! I hope everybody likes, shares and subscribes.

    What's interesting is that GeologyHub just put out a video a couple days ago about a similar phenomenon happening in Canada - rivers turning orange but there are no mines nearby or have had any mines in its history, but the rivers are turning orange - due to the loss of permafrost which is revealing a lot of minerals & sulphur compounds that make their way into those rivers. - /watch?v=Lxfpgqn6NOo

    • @countrylivingonashoestring5159
      @countrylivingonashoestring5159 2 месяца назад

      Thank you for the comment. Where I'm from, we call a wagon with a steering front axle a "4 wheel wagon." But, we also have "2 wheel wagons" (the trailer style) as well. I did point out in the video that backing a 4 wheel wagon is much more difficult. But, for most of my audience, a 2 wheel wagon (trailer) with a single pivot point, is probably what they have.

    You are a total legend. The hair dryer method worked for my aging ML320 when the front passenger window was stuck on open. I had resorted to taping a plastic sheet over the window until I could work out a not-too-expensive fix. Your video saved the day for me. Glad to have been of help! But, I can't take credit for the solution. I can't remember if I saw it on anther RUclips video or read it on one of the Mercedes blogs, but the idea wasn't original. I also did a follow-up video on replacing the switch module. It's not too difficult or expense and it fixes the problem. And, I pray God comforts you through your loss.

    I think this video may have been a Godsend for me. I have a tree with a branch like this, same size, at nearly the same angle, almost same height and on the same side, and I've been puzzling over how to safely cut it down. And after 5 years, and many tree cutting videos I've watched, here this video pops up on my feed. I like the idea of using a pole saw to be able to finish the cut and I'm thinking I may do that as well. I'm trying to weigh all my options and like you, I have limited tools. Thank you!
