    Congrats on a clever fix. I have an LTX 1046 bought new in 2013 and yes it came with a piece of clear tube for draining oil but you are right the factory design is crap. Pulled so hard once with mine I pulled the yellow piece completely off. Since has always been a leaky spot. Gotta look into your fix.

    If you really want the zerk fittings where you can grease the spindles easier,, you can get the fitting needed to run remote grease lines up through the deck and a block just under one step so you can pump the grease with even removing the deck. Yes, it is a pain in the ass, but only once!

  • @dondale68

    Always and I means always test the selinoid before removing it. The wire coming from the ignition switch can be energized to make the selinoid function, it will 13:21 click which is the inner contacts coming together. If your wiring to the starter is hooked up still it will also engage the starter. If it clicks and no starter engagement then test for power coming and going to and through the selinoid. If power is not going thru then most likely the selinoid contacts are of issue, replace. If power going thru selinoid then test for power at the starter. If power is at the starter terminal then the starter is of issue. If no power is at the starter but power is at the selinoid starter side the check the wire and its connections.

  • @magicone9327
    @magicone9327 Месяц назад

    Junk parts cause issues. Bad engineering causes issues. If there was a high amp relay used between the switch and the PTO it would solve so many issues.

    Those wires should be held on to the hub with a permanent magnet like household deep fryer power cords to allow breakaway. Worst thing ever added to a simple lawnmower, converted mine to idler pulley. Now l have very smooth engagement

    Thanks for this video. After replacing my deck belt, I ran into a problem with my pto blowing fuses. Turns out, I stupidly didn’t use my belt guard to hold my pto clutch. Now to check for a broken wire! I struggled trying to figure out what was supposed to hold the clutch housing in place because the belt guard doesn’t show any signs of wear. This video showed me what I had been suspecting. Hopefully I won’t have to resort to the wiring hack, but at least it is in my tool bag if I do need it. Did I mention I can be a complete idiot at times?

    Does anyone have a tip for reconnecting the deck to the mower, at the back? I am having a heck of a time getting the black spring things to get through the holes on the black arms. The ones that lift the deck. Should I take the cables off?

    • @countrylivingonashoestring5159
      @countrylivingonashoestring5159 Месяц назад

      A few things I've found: 1. Connect them first before the front an rear sway bars. 2. Raise or lower the deck height control lever until it's closest to where you want it to be. (This also helps get the rear sway bar in place.) 3. Pull the pins all the way out and rest the tips on the bracket. When you get the holes lines up, just wiggle the pins a little until they snap into place. Admittedly, it's not easy to get at them with any kind of leverage. Maybe use a wire or piece of rope to pull on the pins rather than trying to reach under to pull on them directly?

    from a tree health standpoint a flush cut, especially that big is not good for the tree. A smaller cut that avoids the collar and the ridge of the bark will compartmentalize better.

    Always good to run across a deal. Need a generator myself to juice up my batteries if I run out of sun for a few days. You can get a switch to switch power from the utility to generator if you want to do that with a single switch. It'll get a little involved because you'll need to run your utility power through the switch as well as the generator, the output being tied to your mains. It will never be a bumpless transfer but it'll prevent generator power from ever being tied to utility power or vice versa. Ask for a break before make switch.

    Why do you think putting a simple 3/8" tube on the plug before turning valve on is "silly"??? That I do believe is the exact reason it was designed as it is.... I don't see how adding a dollar worth of tubing for a clean oil change would be considered "silly"??? 🤔🤔

    • @countrylivingonashoestring5159
      @countrylivingonashoestring5159 2 месяца назад

      Thanks for the comment. The whole set up is silly because it leaks oil; at least mine does. The valve is not tight and you cannot get at the threaded flange end to tighten it up enough to keep it from leaking at the engine block. I understand Cub's thinking to make oil changes more "user friendly" for people without mechanical abilities, but it was too cheap of a "fix." The solid pipe with an elbow and a plug will eliminate all oil leaks here.

    Was it worth saving $16 by skipping the gasket? Or was that savings eaten up by the right stuff gasket maker and having to drain and replace the antifreeze? I have a D15 with a similar issue so just curious. Thanks for posting these videos, they’re really helpful!

    Your wife deserves an extra hug. Those tables are often on back order for months at a time. I have been so happy since I got mine and got it installed. *Careful on the size of rounds you flop up there!* a 24" or fatter gets really heavy, fast. I finally learned to at least 1/2 the larger ones with the splitter set vertical. Then its off to the races. Oh, and for anyone with an older Huskee version of this splitter, the Table does fit, regardless of what TSC claims. Happy splitting!

      Thanks for the comments! Yes, I turn the splitter vertical for the really big pieces. I've had some 36"+ green oak rounds that I could barely even roll to the splitter, but once they are under the ram, it makes quick work of them!

    The metal from the stove radiates heat. Why put something blocking the heat from staying in the stove? Seems to me like a baffle would do more than blocking the heat from the metal. I use a stove thats about a hundred years old. Never had an issue. I made a baffle out of stainless steel because it exhausts out the back to prevent the fire/heat from escaping through the chimney. I use fire brick on the bottom and sides and said baffle. That's it. You're putting degrading materials into a fire. Makes no sense. I use a virginian model 102 and love it. Heats my 2500 sq/ft house.

    My mower just did dame thing. Believe mines the LT 1050. But was mowing just died. No power when turn key. Followed positive cable. It goes from it toward solenoid. Into a cable protector. No fuses that can see. The battery on this ones up front top. Since seeing this will try look at back. Dont think has access like the LTX. All original from what can see but why no fuse. Gets me. Pretty sure the headlight wires fell and grounded out. All could see out of ordinary. Will update few if they run all the way back then back up. Which i dont see. Found was on outside frame great place but had cobwebs on. Under the seat is the fuel tank. Think better design then the LTX 1050. Things been a bull. Used almost 20 years on 5 acres. New ones are like 24 hp. Or less this 25 hp. Have replaced belts and blades few times. Climbs a steep hill. Not to endorse. But old cub cadet. Is a beast.
