Another great episode. Thanks
I am so sorry that i can not receive the book, over the big water, in Europe , i really appreciate you and your body of work, you are , for me, the best emotional artist of your generation.
I would love to look at Richard Schmid’s book!! I love your Reasonably Fine Art Talks!
One of my very favourite cartoonists. Top 20 at least. Very sad he stopped updating his old blogs! Happy Comics is insanely amazing. I don't use social media or any of that, so sadly don't see his newer updates.
Love Jeff’s work!!!
I would love to look at Richards book. Vicki page
Love the It's a New Day, It's a New Dawn. So quiet & luminous at the same time.
My goodness these photos are stunning! 🤩
Thanks Charlie and john. So how do you price that one out of 50 painting? I find that tricky.
Love your Talks and my heart always jumps a bit when the Plein Air Texas artists are your guests. Thanks
Love ,love ,love your work . The Boots wow .Thank you for sharing . Your textures are amazing. X
Tad and Zac Retz - yesssssssssss.
Excellent video! Loved all the historical info. I use Cobra and love them. Started with Artisan and regret I bought 8 tubes. Slowly replacing them with Cobra. Their consistency is great, nicely pigmented, easy to thin with water and they don't gum up.
Great show, TY. Love the way David manipulates the oil paint consistency.
Your work is extraordinary! I love it!
What a wonderful interview- inspiring and entertaining. Beautiful work by an amazing artist
Glad you enjoyed it!
The vibe was magical today! Two genius “tricksters”! So much insight. Sandy Like the Beach.
Thank you so much, Sandy Like The Beach. Great to hear from you!
Love your art talks and your art!
I'm not watching live, but here I am now. I also think you are a marvelous artist! I'd prefer if you'd save the thanks for the end, but you be you. For what it's worth, I'm from Middle Tennessee. Also, I am a big fan of Betty Soo, along with McMurtry and Co. Lastly, good luck in Santa Fe. I did my first plein air event (a local three-day affair) and was exhausted by the end.
Terri - Hey, that's a good idea. Now that the thanks list is so long, that might be just the ticket!
Thank you for such a fun and informative interview.
You should visit Vaughn NM, interesting old buildings and big former RR town
I missed the live video but i enjoy every piece of video that you are on, maestro, lovely to see the place where beauty is born on dayle basis. Sorry for my poor english.
Just found this page, Charlie and I love it. Your work has been a favorite of mine for some time. I found this RUclips channel as I am obsessed with Dean Mitchell and found your interview with him. The discussion was incredible and your interaction with him was amazing...so much depth...so many great discussions of how he looks at art, explores work and reveres the process. I loved it.
Oh, Dean is just amazing.
Hi from Brights Grove Ontario on the shores of Lake Ontario. Best of health To ya!
And also with you!
Just amazing . . You have to be one of my favourites in Landscape . Beautiful colour palette . Less is more . I always find it difficult knowing when to put the brush down . Thank you so much for this tutorial .
Thank you. Hope you're feeling better.
I'm watching on RUclips.
42:19 When I sometimes get the "So painterly!" comment on my work I have to bite my sarcastic toungue - as the thought comes "Yes, paint tends to have that effect." Still its far better than the comment, "It looks just like a photo.", that just makes me cry inside. 😭Love Jim's work!
17:17 Ha ha ha! I’ve been there-experiencing that same frustration: “This is not what I wanted! Why isn’t this painting working?” In a moment of anger, I grabbed my palette knife and scraped it off. Once I calmed down, I noticed how intriguing the marks were and how evocative the ghostly image had become. It possessed a quality I couldn’t have achieved through meticulous brush control or rendering. And the rest, as they say, is history!
Very well stated!
The scale translation problem is an intriguing topic.
Great interview Charlie. You are so generous talking to other artists! Thank you Charlie.
Thank you, excellent lesson, Im happy that Im on the right track, youve put together a lot of loose ends for me.
👏👏👏👏👏thanks , Safe Travels
I missed this one, but so glad I’ve picked it up! So useful! Thank you! 😊
In answer to your comment at 11:29...I would say that in light of what I've seen in recent years, Salt Lake Community College has the strongest academic drawing program of the the 3 you just mentioned.
That is so great!
I sure wish that I could have participated in the Helper Plein Air this year. I had a previously scheduled family event that took me away. But, there is always next year. Helper hosted the first plein air events Utah ever had, that I can remember, from back in the very early two thousands.
“First you find the shade, then you find the painting” is terrific advice. Survival!! Plus, it’s hard for me to concentrate if I’m terribly annoyed by the great outdoors.
After watching all 121 RFASs I return to watch them again 😁 What are the two artist you mention besides Douglas Fryer?
Rob’s town trains are lovely!
Sunflowers are ready!
Phil’s clouds are gorgeous!
That is a wonderful slope by Sarah Wilson!
Right??
We wear white long into Fall here in California. If it gets cold, we might wear darker heavier linen. Perhaps a parka in December, January.
Hello to you in your studio, Charlie!
Nice photos of Utah and the sites. Love the paintings you showed. Sounds like it was a great time. Thank you.
It WAS a great time.
I am recalling when you took a rail trip with fellow painters like Aimee Erikson and one community was also being revitalized by a focus on art. Very interesting talk. Thank you.
En Train Air!
Yes, I would be interested in the Alla Prima book.
You are the winner! Get me your email (contact me at charlie<at>hunter-studio.com) and we will get you all set up!
I heard you loud and clear!
I love the way Charlie says dra-ring ❤!
Zephyr’s ‘golden light on trees’ has to be one of my all-time favorite paintings. Thank you.❤❤
