Historic Qualifier Day 1: Tainted Pact
Nice deck I think Get Lost is a better catch all to have in the maindeck to deal with enchantments and big creatures that Helix misses (also PWs I guess) It can also be used to generate 2 tokens if targets your own thing The maps for your opponent are a downside but i think it's necessary evil
Those last 5 min were brutal...land after land. Great run though. Love watching these videos.
i'd play the 3/4 white/red mouse, you have so many ways to target and even recurring targeting with the talents.
After coming in middle of the pack at the sealed RCQ locally here this run really validates my experience in the format.
Good to see an honest 2/1 run.
That face of disappointment at the end. It was a good run.
I honestly never realized that role tokens were tokens that triggered these synergies!
Love to see a Ghired brew
wonder how long it will take people to realize "1 mana spend a card to make you discard the worst card in your hand" isn't good?
have you always used an RE20? Just noticed this video, so sick!
Bayloth might be what you're looking for
sunfall🎉
FeelsBadMan, was that an entire video without a single Baylen activation? Sadge.
BALOTH
What a unique brew! Loved the video. Great content!
nice
@30:27 obstinate baloth
heck yea
Vinelasher is such a great one drop it averages 3 or 5 damage a game on the first one then late game can help push
I believe arena not zooming in on cards while hovering on them is a side effect of the latest patch, which had the purpose to fix the incredible amount of problems caused by the latest update. I wonder how skilled they are for this to happen so often...
Awesome deck! it seems like it'd be weak to itself in a mirror with all the extraction effects. How would you sideboard or what would you change if you started running into mirrors where your Jaces get exiled? I know Dimir Control is not heavy in the meta rn but we all know how much Arena loves it's mirror matches.
Did you consider Spell Gyre in place of Quick Study? Might let you cut a couple of three steps ahead for some cheaper spells, while also keeping card draw/counter count high.
Love the content.
I think 4 Restless Reef isn't a bad choice, being able to get a little extra mill and even beat down late vs certain decks has been very good for me
second game you misplayed almost every single turn you just had such a commanding card lead it didn't matter. play the jayce when you have counter spell protection up (you played it 3 turns later than you had to) don't -5 it when you don't have another, you could get wayyyyyy more mills out of it, you could've got that jayce up to +8.... The first or second three steps ahead you used, you just randomly chose not to draw cards with the extra mode, he had 1 dead card in hand yet you leave up a spell that won't even counter it. I love giving new creators a chance but this is some legitimately nonsensical play.
Please don’t take offense at this comment, but to be fair opponent had a the end in hand when he used Jace, so it would surely not had “wayyy more mills out of it”. Then, not many people had a more successful mtg competitive career then Andrew, tons of pro tours, GP, top 8 and all, so it s not really legitimately nonsensical plays, while ofc everybody make mistakes, for the most part he probably sees a bigger picture of the game.
That's a weirdly aggressive comment for somebody who appears to have missed that the opponent had a face up copy of The End in hand! 😆
@@sjake8308 what was opponent going to use the end on? He had nothing on the board after he uses jayce.
@@sjake8308 with my line that is.
Cool deck thanks for sharing!
Sweet deck, thanks for the video
Cut down is bad against the slickshot turn 3 kill deck that is dominant in meta, try the -2/-2 instead
There is a new 4 mana scry 2 draw 2 that can also be a counter spell. It's not the best draw 2 but it is flexible..
hey I love your content, however your audio levels are rough in this video. The ingame sound effects are louder than your voice
I think tishana tidebinders are needed. At least un side, maybe for the stone brains
Was just looking for standard decks yesterday. Along the controlling front, what do you think about blue white control-ish with the white token talent and tef, deduce, invasion of new phyrexia? Probably too slow…
blue white control is in a rough spot losing wanderign emperor and deluge, but I still think the deck is probably playable with the mana leak card.
weird I was watching this video, then hopped into a match and got paired with +Gainsay. so close
A "rare" version of the carnarium (-3/-3 instead) would be pretty welcomed...
Thanks for uploading!
The black gift thoughtsieze might be another good choice
I think discharge over repurposer p2p3 is a mistake - repurposer is super strong in eldrazi decks, a key bridge between the early and late game, and a great early play against aggro. You aren't going to be red enough to reliably cast discharge early, and you have no use for the energy.
At 39:00, I was thinking we could bestow Trickster's Elk on their Emissary of Soulfire to get rid of their exalted abilities. This way, we could try to stabilize with a single large blocker instead of committing ourselves to be under the Abyss.
At 29:47 there's no chance for a player to respond between choosing how much to pay and the damage happening since it's all part of the resolution of the effect.
totally agree with your thoughts on the format. it was my least favorite draft format in quite a while.
No considerations for Deem Inferior or Glimpse the Impossible? I think both can be decent in an Eldrazi deck. Deem Inferior maybe more of a UB card though.
Rough seat
I think the play at 27:26 was to keep the electro untapped, play guide, equip up electro and pump the aerie, forcing them to trade with the zoa. Leaves you with a lethal flyer next turn and gets rid of their connive lifelinker, basically making it so he has to deal with both your flyer and guide on their turn or else lose. Also, amazed they havent fixed suppression ray yet, youd think if theyre doing high stakes events like this theyd at least make sure the cards work properly sheesh lol
I think you are really overvaluing Hydroelectric Specimen, it has really poor stats on 17lands, and you picked it over some really good cards during draft.
The second hydroelectric specimen over the visionary at the end of pack 2 is a suspect pick, I think.
Hi Andrew, are you going to play the new poe league this weekend and, if yes, are you going to make any content on it? Cheers!
I would have went WR instead of UW I think :o Conduit Goblin P1P2 way better than the angel imo ? Did u went into UW because of the Discharge u gave to the left P1P1 ?
taking the second white card keeps him more open in terms of color. It paid off this draft cuz red was definitely not open.
@@Snarkeroid With the discharge (Not the P1P1 one) and the numerous conduit goblins, and other picks, a WR deck would have been fine in this seat
What didn't you like about this set? I thought it was really fun.
Enerjons
You could have also Dog Umbra'd your Electrozoa at 1:31:17
Good run, the "fumbling through a draft" is the fun part!
