Yea, someone did. As for rebonding using a hot block of steel, can't get the COF to bond if it's been separated for a fairly long time.

That cof you repaired there, is that a gate cof for that particular screen? It has a chip on it correct? I know the older screens had side mounted gate cofs.

In this TV here the lines were visible throughout the entire screen or just at the bottom?

@irishguy200007 at first there were lists of lines called scanning lines throughout the entire screen but more visible on the right side. After fixing them, those 2 appeared which were also made to go away. That's to illustrate what I meant by the term "residue symptoms". 😊

@irishguy200007 Hi, brother! This particular Samsung panel has no gate COFs. You're right; the old panels mostly had side (gate) COFs. The COFs on the top that attach to the source PCB are called source COFs.

Not so with this TV. It's an older model with the common CCFL backlight of that generation. 😊

That's probably a result of aging of the polarizer. Edit: That's still a fairly new TV. It's more likely a residue issue. Are you good at micro soldering?

Ah you may be on to something there. I had thought it was some kind of screen burn or retention but I'm thinking you may have hit the nail on the head. it's 3 years old as of min 2024 but I guess it's about use rather than years.

@irishguy200007 that's right. Use with high temperature for almost 2 decades takes a toll on panels. 😊

The TV is 3 years old and the screen is perfect when the TV is turned off. I was hoping it may be the prism sheet at the back of screen may have caught heat damage but this is too even and occupies a perfect 1/4 up from bottom. I'm afraid to tackle one of those screen bonded cables though if that's what it is.

@tgetvtips Motherboard. I want to buy universal mainboard for my 4K panel TV. But can't find any 4K supported. Only FHD. If I buy it, will it works? Do I need mainboard and Lvds converter only or shall I mod the Tcon/mainboard also?

@runejpunk you've just provided much needed clarification. If you get a FHD motherboard, you'll need the 2k-4K converter and you'll be fine, even if your TV didn't come with any 4K converter. @@PCEYTubeyou can't use coated wire during the soldering poreccess. Of course, you may use UV ink for coating after the screen is tested OK. Hope that makes sense?

@PCEYTube you didn't disrespect me in anyway.😊 In fact I appreciate constructive criticism. It prompts me to take another look at my work so as to potentially make any necessary corrections. I'm not perfect. In response to your question, It is not advisable to use coated wire in this case as the coating won't allow solder to stick to the wire where they need to make contact with the PCB pads/traces. Did I make any sense? 😊

@@tgetvtips We are always leaving. The coating on the solder wire comes off when the solder iron touches it. It's definitely reccomend in repairs like this. Small tip also, you can tin the very tip of the coated wire to attach this side quicker. Keep up the good work 👍

I totally get you. I do lots of flying/jumping wire soldering where the job is done just the way you described. Moreover, I failed to mention that the wire used was indeed coated. I had to remove the coating while tining, but I must remove ALL coating SPECIFICALLY FOR THIS JOB (very short wire jumping). Leaving on some of the coating will make the job much more challenging. Trust me, I know that for sure - I've been doing this sort of soldering for more than two decades.😊 Anyone else disagrees, please let me know what you think. 🙏♥️

Well, that requires that you have a bonding machine. I have a video that shows a similar problem fixed by flying wires. But the reparabilty depends on how badly damaged the COF is.
