GM Inline 6 Intake Blocks Explained EP.10
Nesesito un motor 1979 C10 straight 6 engine
They are the same engine from the mid 60's through mid 80's.
I can smell it thru the phone lol
It was so old the gear oil smell was gone.
Its because the 292 has an extra main bearing ,they had to move the mount & the fuel pump , to accomidate that !!!!!
There are 7 main bearings. Just like the other I6's of that generation (194, 230, 250, 292). They moved the fuel pump because of the large stroke of the crank. The fuel pump was in the way.
DAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAMMMMMMMM
thanks for the video and the information. I watched it on time.
Very creative!
That’s pretty cool deal ! What do you use to run the injectors ? Or you do have a video on that ?
There are additional videos with different details if you want to see more. I'm running factory LS3 injectors though.
Ok cool deal thanks !
Do you use the original flywheel from the 250 to connect to the torque converter?
Yes sir!
Bet its got tons of torque --
It's pretty fun to drive!
i have 292 Chevrolet c20 in 1977 with gaseous fuel...
So beautiful...
I'll take the white one.
Your install of the trailing arms and springs looked effortless ,nice work .It is an advantage to be working on a bare frame ,I like it .
New, clean parts make a difference. Plus, after doing a couple of these, you develop a process.
So simple but yet so bad ass.
great work mate:) would you have a clue if these would fit an aussie gm holden 161 or 202?
Unfortunately I would not. As far as I know, the Holden engines are quite a bit different. So my guess would be that they will not fit.
What a pleassure to watch this video man.. i've been waiting to the more of all the intake mods since you did on hussy, great product you design brother so other people already have their set up ready to instal EFI if they want or go carbureted. Love it, oh and how's hussy now? Is the engine back in after the rebuild when it over rev'd or is still in progress? I just wanted to know, keep up the work and sharing this type of content to us man, I Really appreciate this💪
Wonder if a fella would do this to a 12bolt PES manifold and do a fuel tech or something similar to run the 6 individual injectors. Definitely think a better gain and more efficient manifold then the ossi or Clifford style manifold. Very very interesting video!
If I understand the advantages of the PES intake correctly, the reason they work well for a carb is the long downward runner length. It gives the fuel and air time to mix, which makes combustion more efficient. If you go with port fuel injection, that advantage is no longer relevant. The intake runner is nothing more than a hallway for air to travel to the intake. No mixing is happening. Something to research and try to understand.
I like to know how many HP that combination has. Thank you . Very good job 👍🤜🤛
That particular engine hasn't been started or tested as of yet. I suspect it will be in the mid to upper 200's.
Hey, I am in Illinois. Are you wanting to sell the crossmember that you originally installed in the rusty frame? I am interested. I have just emailed you.
Hello friend, your project is very good! excellent work! Will you have the plans on how to make the intake parts? I have a Chevy Nova with an inline 6 250 engine and a Fitech 30003 injection system. I have the idea of changing the system and doing it with 1 injector for each cylinder. greetings from Argentina
Hello. I sell kits with the intake blocks and fuel rail. As of right now (17Jun24), i have exactly one kit left. All the rest have sold, two of them to someone in Argentina! Email me (email address is at the end of my video) if you'd like to talk more about it.
Thank you, I sent you an email,👍🏻
@@maximilianogonzalez1002 I don't see anything from you.
Good Info, thanks. I'm swapping in a 350 SBC in place of a 250 L6. I noticed the "6", and "8" stamped in the frame stands. Wanted to make sure of the proper location for the motor mounts for the SBC.
The ‘music’ is frickin annoying, wanted to hear what you had to say so the usual morons saying to mute it can go f*** themselves.
Where do I buy these?
The carb version is available on ebay, or you can email me directly to save a few dollars (email is at the end of my videos). If you want the fuel injection kit, they aren't available on ebay, but I do have them.
They make a 8 " booster that's smaller or a side ways from a hot rod magazine for the cars on the 30s and 40s
Do you got some kinda build list you can post or something I’m looking for a good build for my 250 Also hp?
Honestly this engine is pretty much stock. It's got an "RV" cam, aftermarket intake and headers, and a 390 cfm carb. If it makes 250 hp, I'll be happy. As of this response, it hasn't been started. It's currently sitting in my 65 that I'm building.
Thanks for your business, brother!
Thanks for being so thorough and informative. I have a 51 Chevy 3100 that has a 250 in it and for some reason a previous owner ran it with out side motor mounts. The frame is original so I am researching ways to correct the problem. Thanks again and GO RAIDERS !
It is my understanding that some older chassis and engines used a different motor mount. I have never worked with one of these setups or seen one in peraon, but I have seen some pictures. The mounts I'm guessing you may have are bolted to the very front of the engine. Sound about right? If that is the case, what you have may be perfectly acceptable. Do a little research and see what you can find out.
It definitely looks very clean! Nice work!
Thank you.
Any other pointers would be gratefully appreciated. On a 250
Well, I’m happy that someone finally explained the difference. I have been told I had a 292. But I know now it’s a 250. Especially when it comes to motor mounts. Great video I love you clean shop Now the Chiefs cap 🙉🙉👍🏼 Thank you
Glad you found the video to be helpful. Isn't amazing how much conflicting information a guy can get for something that seems so simple?
Have Tinworks “ frame stiffener” mocked up in 75 c10. Detroit speed coilovers front and rear. Driveshaft would contact same area at full suspension droop. Time for axle limiting straps? I don’t think so on a street vehicle. Rework a 1450.00 chunk? Not too late to pull it out and eat cost. These chassis have the rigidity of spaghetti without some type of stiffener in the center, imho. I may raise engine mount 1 inch and trans mount same to get clearance. Whatever.
I thought about limiting straps for about a half second before I ruled them out. Unfortunately Tinworks seems to be setting all of their parts up for bagged trucks meant to lay frame. They have no options for a crossmember like we need. That's why I decided to modify their piece and roll with it.
I came back to this video as it's squarely a great example. Bought a '69 Chev truck with this motor package sitting stock and have a real thing going for the improvements. I was going to ask you upon the fuel injection before I realized you wrote up details in your description. Thanks for showing your excellent work! Man those are great #'s out the BACK. Fine stuff
Thank you! I hope you enjoy driving yours as much as I enjoy driving mine. And if you have questions and want to discuss, send me an email (address at end of videos).
Thanks, I will. We would be good neighbors. Pete from Washington. I like that you stay humble on your work. These trucks are not especially heavy. Pavement power. The good 6 has a special body to it. Gotta have 1 to know about this. All to you!
@@petestockunas7128 I was just in Orting at my brother house.
LOL , Glad I found your channel !
What kinda work do you have done on that bad boy?!
The truck has been down to the bare frame and back up. All the tan paint you see is original. The engine is a multiport fuel injected 292 and the trans is a 4L60.
Very cool
Thank you!
Didn't the old jeeps use GM columns?
Possibly. My guess is that back in the day there was probably a company that built columns for several mfgs. But I don't know that for a fact.
Nice setup. I love TinWorks products. The welds are perfect. I wish they had a coilover rear setup.
sounds just like the 4.2 atlas when revved up. ive always loved the sound of GM straight sixes
My tuner says it tunes like an Atlas also.
My opala has an engine like that
What’s the muffler setup?
A Walker Quite Flow SS, Part # 21437.
The '60-'62 front frame-to-cab perches, are different from the '63-'66 front cab mounts.
👊😎👊
Great Video! It's been the only one that I've seen where both suspension differences have been described fairly well. Thanks!
I hoped that would be helpful to someone.
That 292 inline six came out of either a three quarter ton or a one ton pickup because the half ton pickups didn't have them.
The 292 for sure didn't come in that particular truck. It originally had a 250 straight six in it. I can't say one way or the other that the 292 was not an option for the 1/2 truck. Some say it was, some say it wasn't.
@SquaredAwayGarage no the 292 wasn't an option on half ton models. Also I think those motors only had a single barrel carburetor if I'm not mistaking. The 250 inline six was the base motor until it was dropped in 1985 & replaced by a new 4.3 litre V6.
@SquaredAwayGarage those generation Chev & GMC fullsize pickups, SUVs, & medium duty series models were built from 1973 - 1991 except the half ton & three quarter ton plain cab pickups were finished in 1987, & the one ton plain cab pickups were finished in 1989.
In mexican version C10 from factory L6 292 in 1960 to 1996
thx for the video man... really couple of good tips for me on the frame... wasn't to sure about welding some holes shut on my frame but it looks way cleaner afterwards. What about the panhard bar bracket from REACT. Did you buy the complete Panhard kit? Not sure it the sell the bracket separately.
Thanks! Glad it was helpful. As for the Reactive panhard bar and mount...they probably won't stay. The bar is toward the outside edge of being maxed out length wise. And the mount doest move the chassis side of the bar low enough for me. I'd like that panhard bar to be level when the truck is at final ride height. I haven't done anything further with those items yet though. Not much point in getting to detailed with them until the body is back on the chassis to weigh it down properly.
Good stuff! Thanks for doing the research & providing the great content!
Nice Truck! Thanks for the info!
You bet! Thanks for watching.
My wife loves my in-line six, at least that’s what she tells me.
Sounds like you've got a keeper!
that looks great!
