Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020 - DCS Quick Graphical Comparison
As far as easter eggs go I think they are module specific. The f-14 has a game called "asteroids" on the TID and a game like space invaders on the DDD. The kiowa gas a pretty fun one as well. If you try to start your engine without turning the ignition key first, one of the Devs (darundus) will tell you 😂
I was indeed...not looking at the right boat, but then I turned onto it last minute and did drop roughly aimed at it but they went long roughly behind it 😅
Sounds like you missed!
Very great tutorial! One question; in a situation of performance disadvantage like F-18 vs. F-16 (reverse of example 1) what would be the best tactic to use? The hornet did appear to use posturing shots, maybe they just didn’t defend enough to dodge your shot to close the gap and get a more lethal attack, but I find myself in similar situations against the F-16 constantly where the range of their high probability kill missiles is 15+ miles more than mine, or even approaching my Rmax
it's a tricky one, so many variables. It helps to know your enemy and their relative performance differences. Do you have better SA? better sensors? better missiles? How do you maximise your advantages and minimise your drawbacks? You have the same weapon as the F-16 in a hornet, the AMRAAM. They do have an advantage with height and speed, so make sure you drop your fuel tanks and get supersonic as soon as you can. this usually means climbing to the high 20s at high subsonic, then diving through transonic, and climbing at +1.2 mach. If you really need to draw them in close then there's nothing like some mountains to hide behind. if they can threaten you with an AMRAAM, then you can threaten them with one, just not to the same level of threat. practice against AI with how hard you have to defend to trash a missile at a given distance, and at what range you have a high chance of death. Then this is your min abort range, or MAR. Never trespass the MAR if they can shoot at you
This Dogma sounds sexy
He should start his own podcast
Whacky? Ok fair enough :D
Incredible tutorial. Super easy to understand and very helpful
Often in our work as a small startup with big companies, they require our code to be placed in escrow. They don't get it unless we go out of business, but if we do, they aren't left hanging. Look up Software Escrow companies.
Great to see another podcast in the community! I'll be sure to mention you on my show when I record later today (The Hangar Bay). Really enjoyed the discussion and I'm looking forward to listening to you and Tony moving forward! Are you planning to list the show on a podcast platform as well or just limiting it to RUclips?
Thanks for the kind words. Quite possibly, we're starting and improving as we go so I haven't looked into podcast platforms yet but it's on the agenda
I'm loving these podcasts, nice to see your back, been a subscriber for a while. Finally competition with Air Combat Sim, with British Banter and hopefully a better upload schedule (I wont hold you to it). Keep up the good work.
Haha, well we won't hold ourselves to such high standards, so I expect so
Awesome tutorial. thisnis puro gold
Well I have my listing material for work :) awesome and outstanding content. Thank you
Thanks for the kind words!
Love your videos! Why don't you make them anymore?
Fantastic. Thanks. Hidden gem.
Thanks, glad you liked it
Ghfdfh
2 years and ive only now found this GEM ! great video, simple visuals and no crazy amount of details like some others ! PDF version would be handy for a kneeboard !
Omg thank you dude! This is the thing I’ve been looking for. All these videos on the internet but none of them actually explain well what you are actually looking at on the scope.
That last trap was smooth as! .... I've been known to break a wheel or two.
You'll get there, fly on speed, fly the numbers, turn on time
you should give credit where credits are due... CNATRA?
CNATRA and a couple other docs yeah
Great work but... it's potatoes , meat and potatoes, not gravey.
Ha, right you are
awasome OK grade ! nice tutorial =D
What a Tutorial, thank you very much for sharing. Cleared alot of things in my mind.
Disgustingly good stuff !
Thanks Kelly!
I like the diagram at 12:19 as I am referring to it now. I wish it had the radio calls out. I don't know what to say to the ATC at those stages.
Thanks. "Commencing" when you first start your approach, "check in" after the AI tells you to. "Platform" when you pass 5000ft. Call the ball at ¾nm. The super carrier manual should cover that I think
@@DCSWithLovo thank you. You're still active. Hope you've been well.
Very well thank you. I think the need to do/create something that I filled with video tutorials has since been filled with a training group in my dcs group. plus some great flying with more capable people
So hard to see the runway on the carrier. Also what csl lime to use so it's on the runway
Yeah I tend to zoom in for a few seconds when I roll out into the groove to get the line up right. The course is BRC, which the ai will tell you if you do the comms, alternatively hit alt+f9 (I think) for the LSO view, which features the BRC on the screen
@@DCSWithLovo nice. Also do you use magnetic or true for f18? The true heading matches the f10 map.
I use magnetic. It's more commonly used other than the F10 map, in communications for example
@@DCSWithLovo ok I use f10 a lot and I draw lines and stuff to find the bearing so maybe true is good for me in that aspect. But I should change back to magnetic when doing carrier lands since the call put from mother is magnetic ?
Might be easier to mentally add or subtract MagVar when using F10. That's only like 5 numbers to remember if you have all the maps. I personally haven't found it too bad using F10 map and just rechecking my heading a few times as I approach. The lateral deviation from the mag-true error well reduce the closer you are when you take a bearing
How do i know the 40 degree bank thing. what does each bar represent? 15? 30?
You should check the manual for that type of info On the hornet HUD there's two little dashes that are 5° and 10° leading to the first big dash that is 15°. Then the big ones continue in 15° degree increments. So 30° and 45°
why is this one hour long.
I include full length examples at the end. There are about 45 minutes of footage for a single Case II and a single Case III example
@@DCSWithLovo cool. by the way they have ACLS now. I have done it on CASE 1 before.
@@erfguuipo8084 they sure do! I may do an update at some point, but this tutorial is more about the procedure, the flying isnt too complex
@@DCSWithLovo good tutorial. Yes wheb you do acls please do one for case 1. Matt Wagner say it doesn't work for case 1 but I have activated it before so he's doesn't know it .
I wouldn't do a case 1 ACLS tutorial as it's not a realistic procedure. Plus you're only in the groove for about 45 seconds which is a short time to mess about with the ACLS buttons.
i guess the guy flying the f-14 had absolutely no idea what he was doing and should have won the fight if he hadnt trashed every single one of his misiles 21:46
I think this is the best bvr tutorial out there
Thanks Brylinx
Nice video..... Question... why does my water go down super quick like in seconds?? am i adding too much power?
I think you have only about 90s of water. Don't use it any longer than you have to, like not at all when taking off from land. And you need to be very light for vertical landing don't forget
This video is way too well made to only have 3k views!
Thanks Cap!
hey Lovo - did you also do this for Case III ?
Hi there! Not yet. working on a bombing tutorial right now but my free time has reduced, and I'm trying to shift to 3D animation so the going is slow
It’d be fantastic to see it come to life in a video. The paperwork is always pretty hard to imagine.
@@DCSWithLovo hey mate - how are ya? Any news on the case III? Who do you typically fly with? Fancy joining a Squad of harrier pilots?
Hey! I'm well thanks. Not much news. The group i fly with started doing more interesting stuff, and the day job got more intense; so the space in my life i was filling with video production has reduced a lot. I don't know if I'll have time to fly with your group, but I'm sure lurking won't hurt, feel free to send an invite
Excellent video!!!!!
Thanks Jorge!
I'd love to see a video about unguided bombing tactics
I'll see what I can do
@@DCSWithLovo that’d be awesome. Thanks
Great video! Thanks!! What is the yellow box around the target on the SA page at 22:59 and how did you bring it up?
So I've "selected" a data link contact. You can hover the cursor over something to see that info, or hit step to cycle through all contacts
@@DCSWithLovo cool. I only knew the hovering method and missed the STEP option. Does it only work for datalink members or also for bandits?
It works for anything airborne on the sa page I believe. Bit of a pain if you have a lot of contacts
@@DCSWithLovo Thank you. I’ll try it
This video is gold
Hola LOVO!!! Just a question, Does the approach communications (Supercarrier Mode) with Tarawa still working? I make the contact at 50 or less but only show me the old way. Any suggestion?
The Tarawa's comms are even more broken than the supercarrier's I think. We're all awaiting updates
@@DCSWithLovo Thank You!
ED has removed the error that tarawa had supercharger comms. Now it behaves like an airfield. I’ve tried reporting it on the forums multiple times but they don’t seem to care.
#crazyrussianpilot :-> Awesome video!👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
Awsome tutorial! Really clear and detailed.
Thanks Alex!
i didn't understand two things about the takeoff calls. I have to say "Run them up" or "run up"? And i have to say "brakes, brakes GO" or "brakes, relase GO"? Because here 7:51 i heard brakes release go and, in the briefing section of the video (Takeoff calls), the call is different. Can you explain me which is right?
The meaning is more important than the words. You'll likely end up with your own variations in your own group. Once you have a few friends used to doing these, whether you say "run up" or "run them up" or "ruuuuuuun up!" They'll know what you mean
Very nice tutorial! thanks for pointing me in the direction of your channel :)
Glad you found it useful! Cheers Netjun
Great stuff!
Thanks!
21:21 what does the "limit" do for the RWR?
Limits the number of radars it will display. Just a smaller number of priority radars. Useful when the airspace is busy
@@DCSWithLovo Thanks for the reply. I’m a professional rookie and been flying for about a year in the 18. Still learning lol
There's loads to learn. Keep having fun
back in the old days when the F-16 could TWS a target 80 miles away... :). Now it's like 40nm :)
Hard mode!
Fantastic radar theory video! I know you're just using the symbology of the Hornet for an example, but for the F/A-18C specifically, almost everything said about RWS and LTWS is incorrect. The Hornet radar will always build trackfiles outside of A/G master mode. RWS is just a non frame limited decluttered TWS. The trackfile always exists but is only shown when it is the TUC (target under cursor) or L+S/DT2. LTWS on or off just toggles wether the trackfile is displayed when TUC'd. You will always force the trackfile to show if it is the L+S or STT target. (Which IRL can be separate)
Great to know, thanks for the info!
That last bit about PRF is incorrect. HPRF is only really good for positive closure targets and by far has the longest range.
Haha this is the life of someone like me, I could remake every video every 6 months with new stuff I've learnt or mistake I've made.
@@DCSWithLovo I'm sure that's true, but that's unecessary. I just like mention some quick corrections in the comments to help everyone. A quick correction in the description is all I would do. The production quality of this video was top notch. What did you use to create the radar displays?
@@mobius7089 (one of these days I'll reply with the right account) Thanks. To date I've done everything in After Effects and animated them in there. I'm working on moving most of my work to Blender now, but I havent released a video using that yet.
amazing video, great work!!
Thanks!
top vid! 👍🏻 how do you „yellow box“ the boogie on the sa-page?
I think there's two ways, but the one I know is to press STEP until the desired data link aircraft is boxed
@@DCSWithLovo thx pilot
No probs, happy flying!
Amazing explain video!
Thanks skipper
