    I've done two taxidermy's so far, I did one just this saturday, why I never thought of just squeezing the insides out I don't know, that's so clever, I was pulling it bit by bit with the q-tips, what a waste of my time, thank you for that tip.

    • @ItsAaronRose
      @ItsAaronRose 15 дней назад

      They eat insects, but if youre planning to keep it in captivity, I wouldnt. They need a wet enviroment and are pretty shy animals. Not that easy to keep alive outside of their natural environment.

    I bought a full set up with 6+ young mourners and it was a shambles. when i think about my experience with keeping lizards, compared to me, these RUclips videos seem so professional, unbelievable how they all manage to have the lizards lay eggs, grow and eat repashy with no problem. 🦎

      In my personal experience, males will eat when theyre hungry. Its the females that are gluttonous, and are easily overfed. Id offer your frog food as often as it wants to eat.

      @@penguinwithagun9869 Id not heard of this product until you mentioned it. After looking it up, I would think it would be fine, but ideally youre supplementing your frogs diet with this and still trying to provide a variety of insects if possible. Products like this are usually supposed to provide an overall balanced diet, so would imagine it would be sufficent to keep your frog fed, but dont think its ideal, as frogs dont eat paste in their natural environment..

    The only thing I disagreed with about this video is the plants. Come on brother, simulate their natural environment. Hidey holes, plants or something to help em find cover and be ready to ambush.

    • @ItsAaronRose
      @ItsAaronRose Месяц назад

      I use plants with other frogs - not Ceratophrys. They will destroy the roots with constant digging. They bury themselves and do not require any additional hiding places. Theyre simple animals, and in my opinion decorating their environment is more for aesthetic and enjoyment of the people who own them. They dont really get anything out of it themselves. Not sure what your experience is with these frogs, but I can tell you that the first one I ever owned, I built an elaborate setup for, bioactive with plants, running water and a pond. It ended up being about a $200 enclosure for a $30 frog. The frog destroyed it all within 2 days. Never bothered with this again. I talk about bioactive setups in some of my other videos, with animals for which theyre more suited.

    I haven’t got one yet but is a heat lamp good

    • @ItsAaronRose
      @ItsAaronRose Месяц назад

      I wouldnt recommend it. Youre much better off, and safer to use a heating mat attached to the side of your tank. Its also cheaper and easier than replacing expensive bulbs. Heating bulbs could cook your frog. They dont need a hot enivironment - just a warm and wet one. If your room is already warm, you may be fine without either.

    Do I just let them dry at the air?

    • @ItsAaronRose
      @ItsAaronRose Месяц назад

      Yes, just keep it dry to avoid attracting flies and rotting. Using alcohol and properly removing guts is the most important factor. If you do this correctly, there will be nothing to attract flies and will dry out at room temperature within 2-3 weeks depending on its size. Message me on IG if you need help: @ItsAaronRose

    So I’m getting ready to get some of these geckos and I’m wondering, what kind of lighting do I need? My room is warm during the summer and gets cold during the winter. Should I get heating pads?

    • @ItsAaronRose
      @ItsAaronRose 2 месяца назад

      If it gets cold in the winter, I would definetly get some source of heat in order, but these animals are very easy to keep. They do well at room temperature (65-75), so assuming you can just turn on your heating, they may be fine without an additional heat source. They also do not techically require any special lighting, but should have a 12 hour day and night light cycle. Ive personally fou d that they seem to breed better when kept in a planted vivarium with good humidity, so in that case youd want UV - but more for the benefit of your plants than the geckos. General rule of thumb is that UV, if not essantial, can probably still provide benefits and make for a more natural environment.
