How do you think the process of deconstruction varies between different religious backgrounds, and what role does community play in that journey?

@@KeyserTheRedBeard thank you!!! As far as the process of deconstruction varying between different religions backgrounds… I haven’t paid as much attention to how it is different as much as I have to how it is the same. For example. Leaving a fundamentalist religion whether it’s jw, Mormon, evangelical, catholic, etc…can all cost your community and even identity if you were born into it and that’s all you knew into adulthood. When you lose those communities I think it’s really important to find other people that can relate to you because we’re wired to be and feel heard and understood. I know that was one of the hardest parts for me - finding my tribe again… What’s your opinion?

I just quickly wanna write something to encourage you. If you love Jesus you will go to heaven. The Gospel is that simple. You're not saved by living righteously and being a goody-good and voting for Trump. That's not how salvation works. You have no idea the agony I've gone through to realize the simplicity of the Gospel. I listen to goth rock music and wrestle with sin every day. But I know in my heart that Jesus is the truth. I can't explain it. God used a goth rock loser like me to bring you this message. God works in mysterious ways. That's for sure.

The Imperial English word "god" is a made-up word, not a name or a noun and didn't exist until the 8th century AD. "Faith" is blind belief. The Jews were never slaves of the Egyptians and the Exodus never happened, invalidating the rest. It is the Jew 10 commandments and the Jew-"god" YAHWEH. Read the 1st commandment carefully. The Jew-Book "bible" is filled with ridiculous factual errors and is superstitious delusional Jew fantasy. There is no law that the American citizen has to be a Jew-loving Zionist. In fact, it is Anti-American and Anti-Constitutional to force this superstitious Jew garbage on the American citizen. You have to be an ignorant simpleton to be "believing" in the Jew-Book "bible" and believing you are a Jew. It has been over 4 decades of trying to put this Jew Cult over the US Constitution and science. WAKE UP SHEEPLE!

The internet is filled with haters, it doesn't matter what the subject matter is. You have to ignore them, it's all that you can do. Don't engage and they'll go away. In another video you talked about heavy depression while you were deeply involved in a fundamental Baptist ideology. I think you were too involved; your life needs a healthy balance, that's true for all of us. Too much of one thing can become overwhelming. You also spoke of different beliefs and the thought of most of us going to hell. I had a conundrum regarding what's written in the Bible. It began when I was a teenager. I thought about it for hours on end, there was no answer. I didn't, however, abandon my faith because of this thing that made no sense. One day when I was in my 40's, like a bolt of lightning the answer came, and it made perfect sense. I always believed there was an answer, and leaving my faith because of one unanswered mystery, or a hundred unanswered mysteries, made no sense. I knew it wasn't God's fault or the Bible's fault; it was either my own ignorance or the answer would come eventually. The issue that had me stumped for 30 years was this; how could wars and rumors of wars be one of the signs that the end was near? I reasoned that if God was going to give us a sign, certainly he would give it to every person on Earth, or it wouldn't be fair. And yet, how could there be rumors of wars, such that everyone would hear the rumors? Wars wasn't the problem, if a war occurs most/all would hear about it one way or another, but how could people from all corners of the Earth hear about rumors of wars. Rumors, I knew, couldn't possibly reach every ear so that everyone could equally be aware of this sign. The answer came in the early 2000's when it hit me all at once; the answer was the internet. I could see that the internet was going to spread world-wide, therefore the time would come when even rumors of wars would reach everyone on Earth. Prior to the internet it didn't make sense, nor did it seem plausible. It took some 30 years but my conundrum was no more, I felt at ease with the answer, there was no turmoil at all, the answer finally came. Currently I have another such issue. In the Book of Revelations it says this; 'This takes wisdom. Let one with understanding calculate the number of the beast, for it is a man's number. His number is 666'. The problem I have is this; how can the number of the beast be 666, if the passage says that 'one with understanding can calculate the number'? If the number of the beast is 666 as given, then why is a calculation necessary to discern what the number is? Can anyone answer this?

Thank you for your take. Def interesting! Idk that any one abandons faith for one specific thing. Although if they do it’s intense enough in their experience that they realize it’s not for them. You know how when you study something you learn more and you can’t unlearn what you learn and it shifts your thoughts one way or another which shifts what you think or believe about something? That’s more why people like me leave .its growth for us.

@@makaylabrooks I get it............ Sometimes I ask atheists what they gain by leaving their faith. I realize that they leave for a reason unrelated to gaining or losing anything, but the bottom line is that when we leave God we risk losing eternal bliss, if indeed God exists. If we leave God and become an atheist, there is no gain waiting for us, other than feeling better about things, if that's how you feel. I don't talk about people going to hell, if it's true that people go there it's bad enough without me saying it. I think when you leave the faith it's your decision, but the loss of eternal bliss warrants each of us to not make a hasty decision. It's not as if we're losing tickets to a Broadway play, it's eternal life in Heaven with God that we risk. Maybe all atheists have given serious consideration to this, but maybe there are some that haven't. Particularly the youngest that leave, we all make many mistakes in general as we're learning in the early stages of life. I'm not trying to convince you of anything, you're intelligent enough to know what's best. It makes me cringe however, to think that one of us is wrong. If I'm wrong, there are no real consequences. If atheists are wrong, well, you know the rest of the story. As a Catholic, we were taught that purgatory exists. I don't hear much talk about it these days but it's still a part of the Catholic belief. Purgatory makes a lot of sense if you think about it. Heaven for those that deserve it, hell for those that are guilty of the most heinous of things, and purgatory for those in between. It is said that in purgatory you don't suffer, but you may be there for a lengthy period. Maybe the suffering in Purgatory is the knowledge that God exists but that we can't be with Him and feel his love while we wait. Some believe that's what hell is, not burning in fire but the knowledge of what God's love is without being able to experience it. Since you've left the faith, do you believe in an afterlife? I have a story regarding the afterlife, I consider it the 'greatest story ever told'. I mean that seriously, it's a story that my wife shared with her mother, I was only involved secondarily. It involved miraculous events, if you heard of them and believed the story, you would have to agree that miracles took place. Believing is the hard part, I understand that. I've rarely told the story, only a few times in 28 years. My wife is the kind of person that deserved this to happen, her mother is as well. She's never told anyone, not a friend or family member. It's a one of a kind person that experiences what she has and feels no urge to tell anyone. Traits like that help to explain why they were allowed these miracles, when all/almost all of the rest of humanity isn't.

    • @makaylabrooks
      @makaylabrooks Месяц назад

Eternal bliss is honestly not something I think or worry about. We have no concrete proof of any deity or eternal bliss being right for everybody. And lots of people have experiences and Near death experiences that totally contradict what another person had. It's fascinating for sure. But nothing that worries me as far as my eternity. YOu might enjoy Bradley Jersak's book - 'her gates will never be shut.' He has an interesting take on what hell may be like, as a progressive pastor. I really enjoyed that book. There's honestly so many ways to interpret everything spiritually that I don't even worry about it though. Is there an after life? Maybe? Maybe not? But I would guess that however I was before I was born, I will be after I die. So I choose to live what I know for certain. And that's that I have life right now. And I choose to make the most of it, take in the experiences I want to take in. Love deeply. And be authentic :)

@@makaylabrooks I've always considered eternal bliss the best of all things, it seems a no brainer that endless happiness and experiencing the powerful love of God should be the ultimate goal for all of us. The experience I mentioned wasn't an NDE, it took place on a daily basis, we were given foretelling's of things that had yet to occur. It wasn't general things, but very specific and often very personal things with details included. They were things we could verify for ourselves usually the day after we were given the information. If you don't believe or if you dismiss a story that claims to involve miracles, then you'll never understand what you've missed. Most of us can't accept a story that is said to include miraculous things. The initial miracle was something I had no choice but to accept and believe. There was only one possible explanation for what happened, in a situation like that, either you accept and believe it happened or you deny that it happened despite being given verifiable proof. When I checked what I was told and verified that it happened exactly as I was told, for days and weeks I couldn't get it out of my mind. Day after day I tried to explain away what happened, but at the time it happened it was such that I knew there was no other explanation. I was denying what happened even though a denial made less sense than believing that it happened. Something else I learned, it's very difficult to relate to anyone that this has happened to you. None of us are wired to easily believe that a miracle can occur. I believe that I was lucky in that a denial had to replace the miracle, one or the other had to be true.

I believe in miracles. Never said I didn't :). Some would say you have mental illness to explain away what you're describing. I would not. But with my experiences I realize that we can have different experiences and paths and they can be equally valid realities for each of us. I'm happy for you. And I'm happy where I'm at on my journey. We are both right where we are supposed to be. That's all I have to say any more on the topic :)

The version of chatgpt me and a colleague used a while back to figure out how to print the contents of a log-file on Windows made things so easy, within 5 minutes we had a working program! Otherwise googling and evaluating whether or not a site seemed reputable etc. etc. would have cost at least 30 minutes..

Please consider watching videos of priests who are exorcists & cast out demons in Jesus name. Demons know exactly who Jesus is & are terrified of Him. Just search Father Lampart, Fa Ripperger, Fa Carlos Martins. Sometimes it takes this perspective to gain clarity of the Truth❤

Hi again Makayla! I'm so glad that you still believe that God created the universe, because I remembered that John 1 says (talking of Jesus as God and Creator and Savior), "In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. 2 The same was in the beginning with God. 3 All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made. 4 In him was life; and the life was the light of men. 5 And the light shineth in darkness; and the darkness comprehended it not. 6 There was a man sent from God, whose name was John. 7 The same came for a witness, to bear witness of the Light, that all men through him might believe. 8 He was not that Light, but was sent to bear witness of that Light. 9 That was the true Light, which lighteth every man that cometh into the world. 10 He was in the world, and the world was made by him, and the world knew him not. 11 He came unto his own, and his own received him not. 12 But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name: 13 Which were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God. 14 And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth. 15 John bare witness of him, and cried, saying, This was he of whom I spake, He that cometh after me is preferred before me: for he was before me. 16 And of his fulness have all we received, and grace for grace. 17 For the law was given by Moses, but grace and truth came by Jesus Christ. 18 No man hath seen God at any time, the only begotten Son, which is in the bosom of the Father, he hath declared him."

The definition of god is broad: I do not believe in the Christian god, or the Bible as absolutely truth . But god is another name for the source that all things came from. Even if it’s the Big Bang :). But I believe that how each of us relate to or experience that source, if some or even not at all, is part of our path and none of it is wrong :)

I totally agree. Other items are that Hinduism is not paganism. There is only one absolute God/source whatever you call it for us all not matter how we view or interpret that. We need to stop using divisive terms about other peoples faith, it is theirs leave them be. Also, we can study to much and loose our internal voice and direction. I went from Hinduism to Christianity to Judaism and back to Hinduism. Just know your inner self and experience the you that is hidden underneath it all.

Love all you have to say! We can def miss out on our intuition and inner guidance if we study too much bc we’re listening to other peoples ideas and voices. Thank you for that! A lot of extremists in Christianity call anything outside of Christianity paganism. They make it so black and white bc it’s all evil to them . But I hear you! From my small knowledge I think pagan actually mostly refers to witchy stuff maybe? I appreciate your engagement! Keep following your intuition my friend :)

Hi Makayla when u are deconverting and you try something new nothing what I try sticks just a huge empty hole and I think only god can fill this and this frightens me because it drags me back in with no dreams no purpose so I repent nothing it's left me with an acute fear of death how do I get through this the only people I know are evangelicals and community run by church

It’s really hard going through this in the beginning. The fear and all the emotions are real and they’ve been conditioned into you. Sometimes they feel unbearable- it’s soooo hard. When I went through the hardest part 2018-2021, all my community was online. Everybody I knew in real life was evangelical. It was so hard and lonely. I dealt with the fear of hell, is that what you mean by fear of death? What really helped me with that was Bradley jersaks book “her gates will never be shut.” You can get it on Amazon. The reason that book worked for me was bc he is a progressive Christian pastor who uses scripture to deconstruct hell and show how it doesn’t exist. Once I felt safe from fear of hell, I was able to deconstruct the rest of my life without being afraid I was missing something or wrong. I hope that helps. I’m here for you!

Hey M, you put that well! As a newish atheist I embrace doing selfish things. Because you know what? *That* is not allowed for xtianites. YOLO, so I *have* to do what is right for me. Xtianity is infantilizing, like junior high when everything was a popularity contest. Somehow god seems to love the more well-off and/or more attractive people more, I wonder why? But at some time you have to grow up and stop praying to god but actually doing *real* things for yourself. God ain't there or he's doing a stellar hiding job, and I think it's the first. TTYL!
