Добавлен 25 мар 2020
Modernity specialises in the collection and sale of rare and high-grade furniture, ceramics, glass, lighting and jewellery by the most renowned Scandinavian designers of the 20th Century. Our large collection includes design classics by Hans Wegner, Finn Juhl, Arne Jacobsen Alvar Aalto, Axel Salto, Berndt Friberg - to name a few - but we are also proud to present outstanding unique pieces. With a strong emphasis on post-war design, Modernity has throughout the years established itself as one of the leading galleries in northern Europe.
Besides maintaining our much-frequented showroom in central Stockholm, and our new space in London, Modernity has continuously supplied pieces to international collectors and museums, for example, to the MoMA and Cooper Hewitt Museum in New York, the LACMA in Los Angeles and the National Museum in Stockholm.

The London House of Modernity featuring Stephen Friedman Gallery
Modernity has invited Stephen Friedman Gallery, London, to present prime pieces of contemporary works of art, with an emphasis on works by two of Sweden’s foremost artists, Mamma Andersson and Andreas Eriksson. Since the opening in February, Modernity has restocked the house with a range of new pieces. Included in our new selection is a rare ’Snowflake’ ceiling lamp by Paavo Tynell and an early model of the iconic Chieftain chair by Finn Juhl. We also have a range of smaller objects available to see, including a rare ceramic vase by Axel Salto.

❤❤❤👍👍👍😎
I had not seen those with a brass base and all metal shades before. They should reissue those, preferably with unlacquered brass.
Interesting, I had not seen the brass base with metal shades before. They should reissue those, especially made from unlacquered brass.
En otroligt fin vas .Jag hoppas den stannar i Sverige.
he invented the first kidney shape pool with skatable transtions! if it wasnt for his pool design skateboarders wouldnt have halfpipes and ramps today. he influenced thomas church an american architech who built the first round pool in america 1948 Jean and Dewey Donnell’s private home. thanks to alvar the design became a iconic california symbol. 1975 drough and the skateoarders discovered a better use for the pools!
What's the music?
Thanks, Really interesting.
Calm and peaceful, love it
Truly stunning
I came for the furniture, but the artworks are superbly curated too.
Stunning
How can you tell that this was the chair he was sitting in?
My guess: The pattern of the wood grain. Also, the wood joints are visible in the armrest and on the back side, the joints of the later iterations are "hidden". This chair has a single back stretcher (just like the ones made today). For a long period (maybe 50s-70s) the back had two straight stretchers.
