Many of these plays wouldn't be on here if the batter actually RAN to first base instead of strolling, jogging, trotting or sashaying. These "professionals" not putting 100% effort to get on base need to have some pay cut if that's how they are going to approach doing their job. Just watch how some of them will give it all when rounding third to get home; you can see it in their faces, teeth gritted, fists clenched as they run, arms pumping, long strides. Then watch some of these clowns hitting a ball and then going half-assed to first like they are running to their car in a rain storm to keep their hair from getting wet. Not even the same styles.

I vehemently favored Pete getting into the HoF for many years. Had his poster on my wall as a kid growing up. Even wrote a paper for an introductory ethics class in college about why he should get in. I thought it was outrageous that his playing career wouldn't be recognized because of something he did as a manager. He even fessed up to it but insisted that he never placed bets on baseball during his playing career. Then in 2015, I read an article. You can read it too if you Google the phrase "Outside the Lines Pete Rose." It's the first result and the whole story is worth reading. Long story short, Pete's name appeared in a betting ledger that was seized by Postal Inspectors in the course of an unrelated investigation. The notebook belonged to a close associate of Pete's and it shows records of him betting on baseball while he was still a player. I did a complete 180 after reading that article. I truly hope he never gets in.

I'm old enough to have seen him w/ The Big Red Machine and then sign a big five-year deal w/ the Phillies and critics cracked wise when the Phils dropped after three straight Playoff years but they shut up when the Phils won in 1980 over KC. And then Rose screwed his entire magnificent career over w/ a stupid gambling problem. And now look: gambling is destroying pro sports (fans rightfully feel the bookies are changing outcomes) and gambling ads are everywhere. But I digress: Rose isn't in the Hall and he should NOT be in the Hall. He screwed himself and the integrity of the game. And those who say otherwise are exactly what's wrong w/ the world today and why cheaters wrecked the record books and stole a World Series. Turning the guilty into victims ("Oh everyone was cheating" which is complete bullshit and shame on those believing that) instead of demanding accountability and punishment.

Many of these highlights are him getting a slow jump, bad read off the bat, wrong first attack angle and/or slowing down at the wrong time and then.... making the play. Padres can keep him. He's an arrogant, obnoxious, lying, POS.

Over 20 minutes in and the only play from the Braves is Darnaud throwing out a runner at second really discredits the title of “best plays of 2023”
