In 2022 we bought a 5 acre bush block in Victoria to build our home on, in the meantime we'll be converting a 60's school bus so that we'll have somewhere to live during the house build.
Hitting those milestones - Ep21
November was a big month for us, but we did what we set out to do!
It wasn't an easy month for us for a number of reasons, but at least we're heading the in the right direction.

Back in the Game - Ep21

Probably not the most progress we've ever made but certainly a big step this month. The disco's finally back in one piece and the finish line is now in sight down the block.

Replacing the water pump on our backhoe - Ep19
Просмотров 1363 месяца назад
This month was mainly spent replacing the water pump on the tractor, a job that proved to be much harder than it first seemed. Now we're up and running we can start to make up for lost time and get stuck into clearing again.
Back in the saddle...briefly - Ep18
Просмотров 1644 месяца назад
We got the backhoe fixed up and it's stronger than ever, but the good times don't last long when the water pump gives out. We're also seeing the Winter weather finally hit with major rainfall, but the bus gets some attention and the tractor fix should be relatively straightforward.
Breaking our Digger - Ep17 - Pushing on regardless

After a strong start, June turned out to be a disastrous month for us. A stubborn tree stump proved to be the backhoe's undoing and that left us high and dry for most of the month. Still, in spite of mechanical hold ups, we did get to finish insulating the bus and even started on the cladding which feels like the single biggest leap forward the bus has seen since it got a lick of paint over a y...
Back to Land Clearing - Ep16 - Making space
Просмотров 2086 месяцев назад
This month we finally get back to tree clearing and open up two new areas, mechanical gremlins make an appearance (as always) and we had a more than a normal amount of spoon-making to do. There's still a loooong way to go to get the site fully cleared to the boundary but we're well and truly back into it now, let's hope the weather holds out like this for as long as possible...
Preparing for Winter - Ep15 - Groundwork and firewood
Просмотров 4867 месяцев назад
Before we start getting into land clearing again we wanted to get the site prepped properly, that means getting the driveway finished, running string line around the area to be cleared and moving all of the trees we still haven't processed from last year.
Trailblazing - Ep14 - Marking our territory
Просмотров 2328 месяцев назад
March finally felt like a productive month back on our block after a slow start to the year. Although we saw a dramatic start we were lucky enough to avoid any damage and we got stuck into extending our driveway before the Autumnal weather sets in, as well as establishing our property's fence line and marking out where our house is going to sit.

With the Land Rover finally on the road again we've been able to get back to work. Rancid bins, raging bush fires and baby kangaroos - it's been a busy month.
Wedding Day - Ep12 - Tying the Knot

This video covers November & December 2023 and January 2024. Even dreadful weather conditions weren't going to stop our big day and with the help of family and friends we managed to still put on a brilliant party on our own little block. All the work to date has been in preparation of this day and we're now officially Mr. and Mrs. as we head into 2024. With a whole new to-do list we're looking ...
Forging Paths - Ep11 - Putting a temporary driveway in

This month we cleared the last of the wood from the clearing (almost...) and finally got to fix up the super rutted track that was starting to swallow our cars. We managed to fight the rain to continue the ground works and we even got gravel down to help keep the drive from getting cut up again. We also managed to get the clearing squared up and ready to receive woodchips 😎
Better Weather - Ep10 - A month of moving wood

September brought clearer skies and new growth, but our time was mainly taken up sorting through the felled trees and firewood we've accumulated over the past few months of land clearing. With help from friends and neighbours we managed to get through it and even managed to get some more plants and trees in the ground. We're now set up to get into the next stage which will be making the drivewa...
Nearly There - Ep09 - Prepping the site

August saw us pushing through wind and rain to get the site cleared before the end of Winter. We also treated ourselves to an overnight stay for the first time this year which is the closest thing we've had to a holiday in a very long time...

I bet you're not swearing when repairing the car!
Absolutely not, I am totally zen at all times 🧘♂
Good to see your progress. Keep up the good work.😊

Great Job, Sweet Dreams Panda Pops ❤
Well done guys, the open cleared space is looking massive! ❤❤
Well done Brad, that was great to watch, overjoyed the bloody thing worked - well done done!! 🙌🏻 xx
I was willing that to turn over 😂
Ha tell me about it, I'm having to be very selective with my language when on camera...
Luck needs to come your way
Yeah you'd think so hey 😂
@@GoodMovesAU Smalll luck. You've already got blessings.
Arn't you glad that at least you could do the repair yourself, saved yourself a lot of money, onward and upward.
Yeah definitely, have easily saved a few grand by the time a garage tears it down, runs the checks then puts it back together again, but I also would have been back to work much sooner, ha!
Mine shafts?? Get the metal detector out 😁
Cple of questions. What is it you guys do for a day job?? With all the work done to the tractor, was it worth it or should you have spent a little more buying one that wasn't as old?? Spent the day going through all 20 episodes and you certainly are a very hard worker buddy. Hopefully less hiccups along the way 😁
Thanks Darren! Not that you'd be able to tell from these videos, but I'm a video editor by trade, I don't put a whole lot of time into these, just throw together what little scraps I shoot with my phone as we go usually. Luce is a veterinary nurse so she does a lot of nights and weekend shifts which is why it's usually me down the block. Yeah old machinery is always going to have its problems, these backhoes seem to get really expensive after mid 80's/90s models, way out of our price range. We did look at a few and out of all the ones we looked at in our budget this was the best one really. The bucket boss breaking was the big kicker, other things have just been standard maintenance items really, of course some are more of a pig to fix than others... And yes let's hope for calmer seas from here, we could do with some good luck! 🤞
@@GoodMovesAU Ty for the response mate.. I thought you was something of a car wizz with all that knowledge and spotting the faults.. I was a plumber and roofer and I thought I worked hard lol.. you have many talents and it shows. Tractor nightmare that sounds like to me lol but you have saved a lot of money having such a wide range. She is doing a very loving job 😉 as an animal lover we do appreciate her one those in that field of work 👍.. I wish you both good luck and looking forward to seeing more hard work from you both :) TC guys..
Could you not fill the hole when you fell the big tree before cutting?? Will stop it falling in deep???
Another month the wife left you lol.. lay down the law now you are married bud 🤭💪
AHH poor thing 😕. Gotta look after yourself man, your eyes are dark n sunk. Take care or you will burn out... You can do so much and I guess saving thousands, so rest up now the wedding is over.. you have earned it... 👏
Another bits and bobs video, oh n a wedding so I won't complain lol 😉 still got a lot done so well done and belated congratulations to you both 👏 ..
A true hard working team. Beers earned 👍👍
Ohhhh the misses has a mouth on her lol... 🤭
The little things can get you down, but when you tackle them and conquer them the joy is ten fold 😉 or go out for date night and forget about it till the morning wink wink lol
Good to have someone to dig in and help. 💪
😉👍
Very knowledgeable guy.. the grind continues 😉 subbed and watching/ commenting more to boost algorithm for you..
What the hell was that red bud??
Ha god knows, my rule with Aussie wildlife is to just leave it the hell alone
You are hard working chap, dont over do it brad, love you , nan k xxxxx
Bad luck on the disco, but on the upside you got alot done on the block. Will be interested on what gives with the head.
The block clearing is going so good, it will be interesting to find out about the head problem 🤔
Well done guys , powering on 💪💪
Like to see progress!
Try JB weld
Think it's the best solution to be honest
Hi guys love your vidios. We have just brought a Bedford Commair and are starting the build very slowly 😂 we also need all mew window rubbers were did you get you rubber from
Hi Barry, we have never been able to find replacement seals, I just stopped looking, ha! There are a few Facebook groups for these old buses and I've seen a few people who have managed to find seals so they are out there!
@@GoodMovesAU thanks mate. 😊
Yeah Guys the older the equipment the more maintenance required, Bloody weather don't help, your both doing fine Cheers.
Sending our love guys, you’re doing amazing xx
I like seeing your progress, good job!
Thanks Tom!
Cut notched in the trunk sides for the chain to catch in.
Great tip!
Bloody hard workers! Inspiring watching the progress!
Thank you!😄 Hopefully we'll get more done in July...
No one can say you guys don't get things done, as for the backhoe, it's just a wart on the ass of progress. your doing fine.
Ha nice turn of phrase Pete The benefit of having a million things to do is that even when things aren't going our way there's always something to keep us occupied...
Amazing work guys everything is progressing nicely 👍💪
Thank you mate!
Man you'll never need to buy firewood for the rest of your life. Think you have even more than us.
Yeah it doesn't feel like a good thing right now 😂
I really like your videos, wish there were more. You're in the part of the country where there are very few videos. It's very beautiful there. Till next time. Cheers 🤙
Thank you so much, that's really nice of you to say. Might be able to up the frequency once we're living there, but for now once a month will have to do, ha!
Such good content. Love the colour scheme 🎉
Hi guys your doing real well ,am enjoying the progress.
Thanks Pete! Hope you're well mate
Looking more like a home site!
You guys are doing ok, lots of multi tasking and progress looking forward to seeing more improvements as you get ready to start your build.
Were did you get the window rubber from
If you intend to put slats on the bus ceiling, then you should have put them up granularly as you foamed in between. I've also seen that there are businesses that come and spray foam over walls, for a price. Maybe would have been cheaper than cans.
Yeah I got in touch with a couple of local spray foam companies but as it wasn’t a house or garage they weren’t interested. In the US you can buy two-part kits but they’re not available here in Aus unfortunately. We’ll be strapping some thin ply up as the ceiling, hoping it will follow the curve a little better than tongue and groove, my head’s also only about 20mm from the ribs as it is so maximising clearance is vital 😂
@@GoodMovesAU ok Cheers.
I was screaming and swearing a few weeks ago because masking tape wasn't sticking, working outside, and wind, whilst trying to spray paint.
Cool looking bus man! I'm currently trying to make a old hino bus liveable to keep a roof over my wife and I heads due to unaffordable rent rise. We're in Qld, the weather sure plays havoc on your plans sometimes. I work part time and on a DSP, so progress is slow. But it'll be our home, and no one can take it from us.
Sounds rad man, make sure to film the build and fit out!
@@GoodMovesAU Yeah I'm not one for filming everything. :) Taking a few pics along the way, maybe I can stitch something together oneday if I ever finish it. Cheers.
It's great seeing to see the change over a few videos. Great work.
Well done kiddos, sorry to hear about the little one x
Congratulations Mrs and Mrs Hopper!!😍 Wish we were back there doing it all over again - loved it. Had a wonderful day too, at the wedding. xx
Hey Guys you have done so well, and I feel you will have a great wedding day, we are thinking of you.
Looking forward to the wedding!
Bloody rain, we’re getting loads here too!! I’m sure it’ll be alright on the night!! See you son. ❤️❤️
