Hello! Thank you for the video. May I ask, when Hanns Eisler asked you to retake the aural exam, did you have to go back to the school in March to take it again? Thank you!
Do you know the requirements about composition master program?
Vanessa, I really enjoyed this video. Have you done anymore videos about this?
Hi Vanessa! Thank you so much for all your videos on studying music in Germany! I am a performance vocalist from America looking to do my masters in Germany or Switzerland because of the rich musical culture and great teachers there. Plus, it is much more afforded than university in America. My trouble is I'm not sure where to look. I'm hoping to find a university where I can study music performance with theatre as some of my side subjects or perhaps even musical theatre. Do you have an recommendations on where to look or perhaps where to find a good list of the universites in Germany? Thank you so much again!
Hi! That sounds very exciting! There are a few universities that offer musical theatre in Germany, but I am not really an expert. Here is a list of all the Music university’s in Germany: uni-sono.org/klassikland-deutschland/musikhochschulen/ . You might also like the new Minor/Major Modell at Zhdk, which is quite interesting, as you can put together your own studies. For music theatre there are also a lot of private schools in Germany like the prestigious Stage school in Hamburg, but it they have no master program. I hope I could help! Wishing you all the best!
Thank you very much for the valuable info. I’ve a question, I want to do a masters in “film music” and/or music for visual media … are there any Unis that offer that masters? Thanks 🙏🏻
Hi! Yes there are some! Zhdk offers this master or Filmuniversität Babelsberg. Hope that helps! Wishing you all the best!
Thank you!
Hi Vanessa. That was a great video, thank you for showing us the inside of ZHDK, it was indeed beautiful. I'm applying for an MA in Theatre this year and I would love to see a video on what student life is like, cost of living and what kind of part time jobs one can find. Thank you.
Thank you so much, I needed this video!🥰
Thank you for the informative video! May I know if lessons/ lectures/ consultation with professors are done in german or do they offer alternatives for english speaking students. If they are in german, what about those Universities that do not require B2 language.
Hi! It depends on the teacher but normally every teacher speaks English, so consultation lessons in English should be no problem at all. Best wishes!
Hi there,I watched your RUclips video. Your every video is really awesome. But your channel and your videos expect more views and subs. I analyzing Your RUclips channel and I found RUclips video SEO is not done. This is why your video is not going virial and views are not increasing. Thank you
1. do not compare yourself to others 2. refect 3. have at least 2 hobbies besides of music (thank you soooo much for this tip Vanessa!) 4. social life- find some set time for social activities I really love those tips and how they not only focus on music making but also mental health and other areas of life! I had my first severe music burnout last year, so goal for 2024 is to find sustainable ways of learning music (idk how to word it in English) and this video is really really just what I needed- thank u<3
Oh thank you for your comment ❤ I am so happy you like the video ✨😊
Love your video!!! And love the idea of scheduling events for your career that are motivating, although I think that you do have another vibe at competitions than at festivals tbh 😅😅
Thank you for your sweet comment! I think it can be true for some competitions but not for all!
you make good content but your views is very low why?
Hi, thank you so much for your comment :) I am quite happy with my views as I do very niche content 😌
Hallo . I am Uzbekistan.
💞 Promo sm
Hi Vanessa, I just stumbled across your channel while looking up Guildhall. I also went there a few years ago and wanted to wish you luck for your channel, there are not that many of us classical musicians making little RUclips vlogs! All the best!
Hi Amarins, thank you so much for your comment! Just checked out your channel, it is fantastic! Big support from me! ❤
tbh i get so sad! but thanks for the truth... i started my instrument when i was 20 and now i should be regreting why i havent started earlier for the rest of my life. :( im not gonna get accepted in any of these things altough i love music with all of my heart.
Hey! Thank you for your comment! I think that not everybody has to go the "standard" way, so please believe in yourself! ❤️
Dont be sad. The time you are sad you could practice instead ;) Just smile and enjoy the process :) Dont take it too hard. I Was and sometimes im still struggling with the same problems. Thinking you are too old for something can really manifest in your brain and hold you back and doesnt bring you further ...as long as you have no time machine 🤷♂️😅(if you have call me 😉) it poisons your mind. Study your Instrument harder become better, take private lessons go to music school play where or whenever you can. Go to amateur competitions or competitions with no age limit. Try try try. Go to jamsessions meet people who love music as much as you do. I don't know where you live but in the end there is also always a street gig you can do ;) Ps: Many great musicians have never Seen a conservatory from the inside 😉
I am an American researching schools in Europe for going to get my masters for vocal performance, more so opera focused. I’m happy I stumbled across your channel even if it is in a different musical field but it’s nice to even get a bit of info!! Thank you!
of course! good luck ❤️
Thank you Vanessa😊, it is very important topic
thank you for watching ❤️
Hi Vanessa, I enjoyed watching this video I'm currently looking at university's now because I'm in my last year of college. I'm hoping to carry on with acting and music production. Could you tell me from your point of view what the university is like.
Even if it's about the course that your taking and what is involved within the course, I hope this makes sense.
Hi Tiffany! I am glad you enjoy my videos! Guildhall is a very nice university with a lot of opportunities during the school year. For my course I had a lot of individual lessons in my main instrument harp, we also had group lessons in harp, workshops, Masterclasses, a lot of concert opportunities and orchestra concerts as well as opera productions. I have to say it was really a lot and you do not get bored studying there! Also there is not really a campus, as the university is located directly in the City of London, which is also very cool. It is a great way to get to know this vibrant city!
@@vanessaharp oh wow, that sounds amazing thank you for the information
Very nice video ! Are the lectures for the pedagogic master only in German, or are they in English as in the performance master ? 😊
Hi! the lectures for pedagogy are in German only and you need to provide a German language certificate for your application :)
wilkomme in züri! :)
Merci 😊
Richtig nice Einblicke 😍 Danke für’s mitnehmen und genieß die Zeit dort! Sieht alles mega aus
Danke dir ❤
Such an interesting video!!!! Thank you sooooo much 💕💕💕💕
I am glad you liked it ❤
Hello. My name is Rames I'm from Uzbekistan
Viel danke für deine Video. Es was sehr interessant und (useful)
Freut mich sehr! ❤️
Thanks for the detailed info Vanessa. So basically if one doesn't play piano, but just play one string instrument, there is no chance for me to be able to study music in Germany, right?
Only Masters is possible without piano. In your Bachelor studies you have to play and you have to play at the entrance exam. Wish you all the best ❤
☺️😜😜😜😜😹😹😹😹😹🤣🤣🤣🤣😂😂😂😂😅😅😅
ok, why is it soo funny?!
I’m starting when I took 18, I have a chance?How many hours per week I need to practice?😄
Hi! As I said in this video, nothing is impossible. You just need to work very hard. I can’t name how many hours you have to practice, but I would say as many as you can! :)
Hi! Which universities are known for their choirs
Hi! I am not an expert in this topic, but I know that the Hochschule für Musik Detmold has a lot of choirs where you can participate as a student. The choirs are normally advertised on the website of each university. Hope that helps! :)
this video was really REALLY helpful! thank you for breaking these type of videos into simple, manageble chunks of information for us to understand.

Thank you for your comment! ❤️ It is on my list now 😎
I’ve never thought of preparing for a recital this way, but it makes so much sense! It seems like it can be something worth trying, can’t wait for the second part❤
yes it definitely is! I’m ma happy you liked the video! ❤️
Thanks so much for sharing these videos, Vanessa. I'm looking forward to part 2.
Always! I am very happy you like my videos Angela! ❤️

I don't play any instruments but I wanted to draw a violinist bowing but you can probably imagine how unhelpful the google search was for finding an image that wasn't them actually playing the instrument lol 😅 Thank you for this video! Very helpful in ways you might not have expected!
oh wow! I am happy I could help! I would love to see your artwork! ❤️
Thank you so much for sharing!
