AS A FORMER MEMBER OF A BUGLE BAND WHO WON THE ALL ENGLAND CHAMPIONSHIP SEVEN YEARS ON THE TROT THIS COMES AS A JOKE TO SERIOUS BANDSMEN WHEN THE DRUM MAJOR IS DANCING AROUND INSTEAD OF INSTRUCTING THE BAND WITH A MACE .PS I WAS A DRUMMER AND DRUM MAJOR OVER THE TWELVE YEARS WITH THE CHURCH LADS BRIGADE .

As a teenager in New Zealand and a member of a marching band we used to play it on regular basis. Of course we had a complete set of mildly obscene verses to go with it. We never stagger we never fold. We sober up on pure alcohol.
