The Arete range are designed with a concave back, so they can be placed right up against a wall if needed without interupting the airflow into the unit - meaning the water tank at the front of the unit will be facing outwards.

That's because what does or does not come through on the microphone will not be properly representative of hearing the unit in your home, so we simply gave the decibel level as listed on the spec sheet and allow people to make their own decision. :)

It should be louder as we're fairly certain laundry mode automatically puts the unit into its highest fan speed, but don't take that as gospel. As for the louvre, it's up to you. It'll still operate normally with it down (the air will then blow out a gap at the front), but it's there to help direct the airflow should you wish to do so.

@ thanks for that, I have the one now but can still return it and get the two but as I use it to dry clothes I’m thinking the one is already loudish lol so the two will be louder so not sure now do you think it will be noticeable

@@dan9700 Assuming you're drying clothes during the day, a little bit of extra noise probably won't be the end of the world.

Yeah, generally speaking laundry mode on dehumidifiers are more effective in enclosed spaces because the unit isn't also sucking in moisture from elsewhere and the heat it produces stays localised to whatever room you're drying clothes in.

No, but neither does any other dehumidifier to our knowledge. The dry air dehumidifiers produce isn't immediately warm, but becomes warm over time as the unit's internals heat up with use.

Hello, Sounds like it might be set at a high relative humidity. In order to get it into a continuous mode you will need to press the Smart Humidity Mode button, which is the water droplet one, you should see it cyclying through numbers on screen in the following order: 70, 65, 60, 55, 50, 45, 40, ∞ Youll want to cycle through until you hit the infinity symbol in a cirlcle (∞) that is the continuous mode. It should then run until the tank is full. Hope that helps!

Hello! If you primarily want to use your dehumidifier to dry clothes, for the best results we'd actually recommend using it in an enclosed room rather than in an open communal space like at the bottom of the stairs or on the landing.

If you're looking for a dehumidifier that comes with a continuous drainage hose (albiet at 1m rather than 3), you could take a look at the Honeywell TP-FIT range or our in-house economy brand Devola. They aren't as premium as the Aretes, but worth looking at if you're in the market for a dehumidifier.

If there's a plug socket to power the unit, then yes. But if your external garage is unheated and you expect temperatures in there to drop below 10c, we actually recommend a desiccant dehumidifier rather than a compressor one like an Arete. The reason for this is that compressor dehumidifiers rely on the air temperature being warmer than the condenser coils it uses to condense moisture in the air into water droplets, so they become much less efficient in colder temps. A desiccant dehumidifier however will collect water through an absorbant material inside the unit, so it doesn't really matter if temperatures are below 10c. AFAIK, they are not great below 5 degrees C. The warmer the room is, the more moisture in the air. If it is cold, the moisture sticks to shiny surfaces, glass and cars. Maybe the hot air from the unit is enough to sort the garage temp.

We don't ship to the United States, and I'm unsure whether Meaco may have a retail partner there or not. Sorry! I'm also not sure if there's a direct equivalent out there, as Meaco designed the Aretes from the ground up rather than putting their label on a generic product. But by all means check with a domestic retailer to see whether something with equivalent specs is out there!

It's up to you really. Humidity is always present in the home just as a normal consequence of cooking, bathing, or even breathing - and you may want to control it to potentially prevent issues down the line. The Aretes also double up as an air purifier when used with a HEPA filter.

@@AirConCentreUK I live in a large 2 bed flat the hall ceiling is about 24feet high - Do you think the 12L would suffice? I'm guessing the motor is bigger in the 20L?

@@gorringeman Usually we recommend 12L dehumidifiers for flats, but yours sounds a bit different to the norm so you *may* benefit from a unit with greater daily extraction rate like a 20L, but we can't say for absolute certain. The 20L Arete probably does have a bigger motor as the unit itself is bigger than the 12L.

Just FYI if you didn't know, the reference to litres in the model names (i.e, 12L/20L/25L) are regarding the theoretical daily extraction rate rather than the water tank size - although the tanks on the larger models are bigger than on the smaller ones. So a 20L dehumidifier would be able to draw in more air than a 12L, making it capable of dehumidifying a larger space.

A 12L dehumidifier is generally recommended for two bedroom properties, though it depends on the severity of the moisture problem in your home. We'd recommend placing the dehumidifier around problem zones that create moisture in the air such as outside of the bathroom or in the kitchen, but generally speaking humid air rises, so if your primary bathroom is upstairs we'd recommend you start by placing a dehumidifier just outside of it and seeing how you get on. Again, it depends on the severity of the problem and the condition of the property you are living in (e.g, whether you have double glazing), so you may need to consider further steps if a single dehumidifier isn't cutting it.

Thanks for watching! Both the AreteOne and AreteTwo are superb dehumidifiers, so it depends whether you find the additional features of the Two worthwhile - such as app control. In terms of which size you should get, 12L dehumidifiers are great for treating single rooms/spaces, flats, and two/three bed houses. If the bedroom is your only problem area with excess moisture, a dehumidifier with a 12L daily extraction rate should be sufficient. This depends on what kind of issue you are having with humidity, Generally speaking it is best to place dehumidifiers near to the problem areas in a house, for exmaple high moisture generated places like main bathrooms and the kitchen, or a place which is suffering from damp etc What is it you are trying to combat? we might be able to give you a better answer.
