    What should the centre spacing be for 690mm sheets please? The installation instructions online don’t give 100% clear advice apart from the 2mm expansion gap either side of the panels. I’m presuming you allow 50% of the 21mm i think it was mentioned in the instructions per side too for centring purposes?

    • @ClearAmber
      @ClearAmber Месяц назад

      Great questions, so the width of the centre part of the Snapa bar is approx. 16mm so plus a couple of mm for expansion and that would be the amount to deduct off each sheet. You only minus the deduction once from the sheet width as it is split 50/50 either side. Check out our polycarbonate glazing bars installation guide for more info: clearambershop.com/collections/snapa-snap-fix-glazing-bars Axiome® polycarbonate sheets are super easy to cut to size on site (see our how2 video) so if you aren't sure on the exact spacing they can be ordered oversize and trimmed easily. Would it be ok for me to silicone all the way down where the sheet and the glazing bar top cap meet just as a precaution? So basically doing that on both sides of the bars at every point where the sheets meet them?

    • @ClearAmber
      @ClearAmber 4 месяца назад

      Yes, it's not usually required but if you wished to silicone down the edge of your glazing bars and polycarbonate sheets you could. It is important that you use a sealant that is compatible with Axiome Polycarbonate Sheeting - it is recommended to use our Securbond Sealant that we specifically designed for this.

      Thanks for asking, Waheed. We are using our Securbond Silicone, this is a premium-grade silicone that has been specially designed for use on polycarbonate sheet projects. Corramet Corrugated Sheets are robust and a lot quieter than metal corrugated or other alternatives. Specifically on falling coconuts it is a hard one to tell! Ultimately depends on lot of factors such as the weights, heights and support structure involved.

      True - the exact fixing you should use depends on your wall substrate hence that step is indicative! Follow the exact same procedure for installing the Top Wall Flashing for Polycarbonate Roofing Sheets and tweak the single fixing step to suit. For example, you will need to pre-drill the wall when using wall plugs.

    Thanks. Im considering your Stormproof PVC or your Polycarbonates to replace my car port roof. Whilst the theory looks easy, daft question, but with a 3m slope run, after fitting the sheets, how do you access the top wall to then fit the flashing, given you can't walk on them? Any pointers appreciated. Thank you

    • @ClearAmber
      @ClearAmber 8 месяцев назад

      Great question, the most common way of installing the Top Wall Flashing is by using a crawling board rested across the roof, to spread the load. This works best on a polycarbonate roof where the crawling boards would sit on top of the glazing bars. For Corrugated sheets, it is best to install the roof flashing as you go along. As each sheet is overlapped secure the Top Wall Flashing up to that point. Always remember to take the necessary precautions when working at heights. Hope that helps?

    Hi. I've got a lean to gazebo 2.5 m by 2.5 m. If I go for two sheets 1250 by 2500 that be ok or should be more smaller sheets? Thanks

    • @ClearAmber
      @ClearAmber 9 месяцев назад

      Great question! It is always safer to go for more polycarbonate sheets at narrower widths for stronger resistance against rain/snow loading and wind uplift. This also helps towards making your lean to roof last longer. We would rarely suggest going above 1m widths and for thinner thicknesses, like 10mm polycarbonate, we would suggest much narrower than 1m. Hope that helps?

    • @ClearAmber
      @ClearAmber 9 месяцев назад

      Ultimately, the right sheet width to use depends on the thickness of Axiome® Polycarbonate Sheet that you are installing (plus location/structure type etc.) so please contact our team directly via our website for more specific help: www.clearamber.com/contact/

    • @ClearAmber
      @ClearAmber Год назад

      Using Alukap XR Fixing Buttons is optional and depends on the roof structure. They are primarily used to strengthen the installation of the polycarbonate sheets by securing to cross purlins where the sheets/rafter spacing is wide or the roof is in a windy location. Thanks Myles, great question. Using polycarbonate fixings alongside the Snapa Glazing Bars is optional. If you have a sensible polycarbonate sheet width and rafter spacing they won’t be required. @ClearAmber Год назад

      Yes, it would be possible to install your Axiome polycarbonate lean to from beneath, working across sheet by sheet. The challenge is the last polycarbonate sheet however, as you will need to be able to access the roof from above/beside to secure the last glazing bar. Yes, it is optional whether you screw the glazing bar back to the wall. If you want is quite uneven securing the wall plate back might be advised. Hope that helps?

      Yes, you would install a Snapa Top Wall Flashing to seal over your polycarbonate sheets at the back/top wall. • @ClearAmber

      Great question - it depends on your drainage set up. Most installers run into a hopper as that gives the most flexibility. This can be done either out the terminating end or by using an end cap both sides and creating a hole in the base of the gutter. There isn't a specific connector yet for downspouts, mainly because of the varying types available. @@ClearAmber Thanks. I have a 1st floor, raised balcony/veranda deck to repair and this seems perfect. It's currently done in Trex composite but has been put on a base of what looks like OSB which has swollen. That looks like an attempt to create a ceiling for the space underneath, stop stuff falling through the deck gaps. It's also been clad with uPVC on the bottom to make it look nice.

      Ok, sounds like the perfect application for Alupave Decking! Plus, aluminium decking can significantly outlast any composite decking options.

    Hi. How much longer should the polycarbonate and bars be at the cutter end for the rain water to hit gutter?

    • @ClearAmber
      @ClearAmber Год назад

      Hello Richard, good question. It depends on your roof pitch (steeper means less overhang so the water doesn't overshoot) and also how far your gutter is sitting below the End Stop Bar. As a rule of thumb, people tend to aim for 40-50mm overhang for a polycarbonate roof.

    The fins of the thin gasket are pointing inwards?

    • @ClearAmber
      @ClearAmber 2 года назад

      Thanks for the question! Yes, Alukap-XR Glazing bars are designed to have concealed gaskets as this is better visually and also gives them greater longevity against weathering. This means on the bar gasket the longer flange faces inwards. Hope that helps explain?

      Sorry to hear - they would be been perfect! The Corrapol-BT and Awnapol Bitumen roof sheets are very popular for pergola roofs! Our Corrapol Stormproof Sheeting is also great if you are looking for a clear corrugated plastic option and will outlast corrugated PVC sheets by years. www.clearamber.com/browse/tc-CORRAPOLCORRAMET-405/

    • @ClearAmber
      @ClearAmber 2 года назад

      Sorry to hear that Brian! There is always a risk of leaks when installing fixing buttons that is why for most applications, when you have good rafter spacing, you can install polycarbonate sheets with just glazing bars and no need for fixing buttons. For example, Snapa PVC Glazing Bars or Alukap-XR Aluminium Glazing bars. If installed 100% securely then 90% of the time they are effective. www.clearamber.com/browse/sc-SNAPASNAPFIXBUDGETBAR-238/ www.clearamber.com/browse/sc-ALUKAP_XR60mmBARS-221/
