While I appreciate your point of view, I don't think many of those things are "rip offs" but optional additions to your vacation. I get the drink package usually cause I don't want to have to calculate the price per drink and want to have pre paid ahead of time. As with specialty dining again if you want to elevate one meal and you can afford it, do it. The important thing is to know your budget and work within it.

Comments: 1) Like in the hotel business where they cannot build enough hotels during the good times, cruise lines are doing the same. Since we are budget cruisers, we expect to see significant numbers of cruises under $100 pp pd especially on older and smaller ships 2( The cruise industry bookings are up largely to the small deposits required. I can reserve a $10k cruise for only $200. That gives the customer six months to a year to find a better deal.

We don’t get a choice in Australia so basically it’s included in the fare upfront. We recently did a back to back in the USA and I was amazed at the number of the top tiered passengers who headed straight to guest services and demanded that the automatic tips are removed, among other things. We weren’t even aware you could do that. To be honest - why don’t they just set the fare and pay their staff accordingly.

In short - all of them told me when too many people remove gratuities, their paycheck is for the minimum pay guaranteed by the cruise lines, but if people don't remove them, their paychecks are higher. This has an even bigger impact on crew working behind the scenes that don't receive tips from guests because they don't interact with them. Hope this helps! ruclips.net/video/TcGwTuo_N6A/видео.html

I sailed on the Encore in 2023 Alaska and had a great time and the ship was beautiful and staff was amazing will be on it 2025 to the Caribbean. Norwegian is one of our favorite cruise lines besides Princess we have never had any issues this is why we have sailed with them for several years. Thanks for sharing

We did 7 days in Alaska on Celebrity Solstice as a couple for $935 pp + grats inside and a 14 day RT Vancouver - Whittier for $1025 pp + grats oceanview on HAL Nieuw Amsterdam in September 2024. My ONLY regret was the Celebrity cruise where many of the venues were overcrowded. We had done a Costa cruise to Alaska which was a disappointment. When I go to Alaska the next time, it will either be on Princess or the non-Pinnacle Class HAL ships or one of the 11-12 day Cunard sailings. We really liked the 10-13 hour port stops. We did NCL Epic once and after a day, we almost decided to jump off the ship and head back to Puerto Rico. The included food was very average. What was terrible was the lack of service and a staff that never smiled. This was the cruise after they cut back on the room stewards. Even if I liked NCL, I could not deal with the poor docking locations, the short port times, and their experiences of leaving people behind inport.

I missed this comment, sorry for the slow reply! We're trying NCL again on the new Aqua in the Spring in the Caribbean, but I don't think I'd do NCL again for a variety of reasons. Every time I turn around NCL seems to be cutting something. One of the highlights of our Encore cruise was Choir of Man but they've decided to cut Broadway shows from their future sailings so that won't be an option on the Aqua. It seems like they used to be a good cruise line but I'm afraid the things that made them special are no longer a part of their offering any longer. We love Celebrity but it seems like Princess and HAL are the way to go in Alaska so when we go back in the summer it will be on HAL (has an indoor pool, better dock locations, longer port calls, and the ship should be less crowded). We haven't sailed on Cunard yet but hopefully someday soon!

Hi Evan. Does Makenzie fill out the special diet form pre cruise or just tell her waiters? I have a lactose intolerant cruise partner who is nervous about MDR food actually being lactose free. I have never been charged a corkage fee . And on MSC I haven't been charged for a second entrée Where are the videos from the sloth and monkey excursions?

Disagree with shore excursions independently. Remember if you didn't book with the ship and you run late they will not wait. Not worth the few extra bucs you save. Great video

I use most of these tips except for the travel agent. 100% agree with you on booking your own shore excursions; they are cheaper and of better quality. However, I haven't been able to find a reliable travel agent who can give me better deals than what I see online. Any suggestions on how to find a good travel agent? Thank you for these great tips! @@sammychem5920 I typically book with TAs who work with specific cruise lines vs book any and all travel. Not only do they know everything they're is to know, they also typically have group bookings with big discounts. I would join some Facebook groups for ships/cruise lines you want to book and you can usually find them in those. Good luck!

When my dad was in the U.S. Army stationed up at Ft Wainwright outside of Fairbanks, AK, it was said that the mosquitos in Alaska were so big that one landed at the Army airfield and the ground crew went out to put fuel in it thinking that it was a scout helicopter.
