Nice work RB! I saw this first on the forum. I need to work on shaping the rock for many of my preps. Seems to make a big aesthetic difference
Yes it does. Took me about 12 years to learn that cause I was always in such a hurry to finish.
That thangg is beautifullll, did you prepare it?
I rarely buy fossils but this is one of the few that I bought already prepped out.
Wowza!!
Great work!
Thanks Kak
I have never seen an ammonite with dorsal spines before. Superb.
1:55 is it juste or did you cut through another big one on the back of the rock?
There is no other ammo in the back of the rock. it must be the natural fractures that make it look that way
lovely work as always
Thank you Sam
holy st i have never thought i'd live to see an *oreodont*
Very cool indeed!
Great crab prep. You mentioned what we like to see in you videos. I wouldn't change a thing. This one was very helpful. I like seeing the final stages were you fix and touch up. I need to work on mine alot more. Anyway keep them coming and look forward to the next one🦀
Thank you Jeff. Thats got to one of the best responses to one of my video's in a long time
That's laughable it's that big. I didn't know what to expect when you were turning the rock over here, but man that's by far the biggest I've ever seen
Those Waters must have been absolutely rich with nutrients, that's gargantuan
That's absolutely amazing!
Once had a cop coprolite that had little bones and everything in it, you could see like a little jaw in there. Oh it was so intricate and it was a nice sizeable turd too that I had gotten from my grandparents. Well anyways it had been stolen but as it goes
Seriously, you have some of the best specimens I've seen out of anybody yet. Thank you for sharing
I take it most of what you're finding is on the west coast Northern California on up to maybe Vancouver and stuff?
i don't fossil hunt anymore but most of my hunting was in N. Cal, Or. and Washington.
So far you have some of the best specimens I've seen yet. Nice very nice
Thank you systemic. I agree too
Aren't you a least bit curious about what's inside of it and you those soft tissues actually become fossilized also?
Not in the least. Found 1000's of these in years past. only found one with something other than rock inside
👍
I didn’t even know you could find crabs out there but it makes sense. You’re one lucky crab man!
Not often but sometimes a bit of leg or claw so this was special
Wow. Lost for words on this one.🦀😍.
I use to hunt that area about 50 times a year too. No work in the winter so I went fossil hunting 5 days a week, sometimes 6
very nice 👍
Thanks timmie
Wow that one is awesome. Love to see a close up on that. 🦀 that is on my list to find one. I got a few more murisa crabs. Probably spelled that wrong. But one has the legs and possible claws but looks to be disfigured unfortunately
Hey Jeff, would love to see the one with legs when done!!!
@@rbfossils4954 I will get around to it eventually. Not sure if it's worth preparing or leave it as is.
@@jeffdavis6983 Believe you me, I've been there more than once. Best of luck to ya Jeff
Way cool!
I thought so too
Great video!
Thank you Bomb1
Love your videos!!
Thank you Fred
Put it out as a RUclips short. It'll get lots of views. 👍👍👍👍👍
Funny you should say that. I was just thinking that last night.
Wowza! That was fantastic!!
👍👍👍👍👍
Ahhh, if only it was always that easy to tell. Would save a lot of time.
You can say that again.
That fossil is a thing of great beauty. Fun to watch the various processes. Well done. 👍
Thank you timmie. I'm still working on posting some time laps of the fish and another with just the bill with all the teeth
Wowza!
That was a really cool project, thanks for sharing that! I won a round concretion on eBay and it's about three pounds. I'm certainly not expecting a sawfish but I don't really know what to expect at all! This was helpful in seeing how you go about it. If I may ask, do you sell any of these? I've seen some slabs like the "average size" fish you have there for as low as $25. I'm curious how hard or easy it would be to make money on these given just how long it all takes. Any input you have is appreciated!
Excellent!
Thank you timmie
just remembered your channel! comin back after 5 months!
Thats good. I plan on keep doin what I'm doin
Great video.
Thanks timmie. Next saturday the actual prep video should be out.
Silly question, how did you know there was a fossilized crab in there before you cut it?
I still have that concretion. I just made it seem like I was prepping it. I've been prepping crabs for 33 years and I know the Formation these come from. Not every concretion has a crab though.
Woah is right! Such a cool association, thanks for sharing rb
No prob. I'm just having fun
very nice video.....thank you....
Ha! Another hilarious prep method ron! Thanks for uploading. Have you ever tried the ‘using a hand drill method’? Works just as well as your shot gun prepping method!
Never tried the hand drill method,,,,,, yet
Looks like you are in a roller coaster with some slipping wheels and in the end you slam the bastard, but finally a beauty is born! But did you really do this only with a grinder and a hammer???
He’s pulling our legs on this one 😀
This video is what I call one of my 'BS Video's', I do lots of real prepping but these funny ones I really enjoy making.
@@rbfossils4954 Great man, so I did have correct doubts about it. 😀
@@paulharmans Yes you did. Ive done well over 240 videos but I love doing the non serious funny ones
Very nice!)
I have been finding these for years . I grew up in n.w Oregon and I still get 20 of them a year and I have about 200 plus other crabs. And I found one place where there are 100s of pea crab in real soft matrix.
I went to your channel to see how you are prepping your crabs, but no content?
Cool 🦀
The stone the fish is embedded in adds to the beauty of the fossil. Just think. Unseen for 50 million years until you came along. Wow.
More like 98 million but I just have fun preppin fossils.
Great job and great fish! Can't wait till the next one. In the Netherlands we do not have rocks and mountains with fossils, only heavy clay and sand. Well, in the far south (Limburg) do we have limy soil with some fossils.
Thanks for the compliment.
Great work! What a beauty! Let me know if you ever decide to part with it!
I certainly dont blame you, but its a part of my collection.
Sounds like the fossil isnt the only thing thats horny in this vid 😅
Cool ammonite. Though I believe there called spines instead of horns. Any way great prep work.
Hi Jeff, Yeah, I believe you are right. Couldn't think of that at the moment.
