Awesome! This great artist needs to be making recordings on a leading label. if he ever records Tchaikovsky's 1st piano Concerto it will rival Cziffra, Horowitz and Argerich.
Which Horowitz version is this? The only Horowitz arrangement I've been able to find is the Pelissorius Edition which is not this version...where can I find the sheet music for this version? I've been searching for months now!
Grynyuk is able to create such an evocative image in my mind as I listen to the piece. His playing puts me in a vast universe filled with stars. Best octave technic of all time.
Did you say "to make the piece easier"? I've learned the 'normal' one, and it's fairly simple, well structured piece, nothing really stood out as hard once I started learning it properly. But now, I've been trying to learn Horowitz's version for a good month now, and I still haven't got anywhere with it. It probably helps to say I don't really read sheet music, I mean I got to Grade 3 by luck, so maybe for you sheet music people it's easier, but for me it really isn't.
I'd say I haven't noticed octaves here.....Well, they were brilliant but his understanding of this piece is much more meaningful....He knows exactly WHEN and HOW each note must sound.
Amazing technique, but he somehow sucked all the excitement from the piece. Some people are just not destined to be be great virtuosos no matter how good their technique is - they lack the charisma and artistic imagination. I'm sure he'll make a great teacher at a conservatoire, accompanist or member of a trio though.
GemelCarlos - check out his liszt sonata and hug rhaps #6 - he might have one of the great octave techniques of all time, though his detailing sometimes needs to be cleaner.
So tired of pianist taking shortcuts and not playing what the composer wrote. First two cadenzas horribly inaccurate.
This should be taken off. This isn't what Liszt wrote. This is an absolute disgrace
Too bad he had to add so many extra octaves in bass and didn't play what liszt wrote
Heavy weight
bravooooooooooo
The pinky starts off the C# jumps with a D instead but he and several others do not do it, is it because it sounds bad?
Everybody gangsta till dem octaves come.
I've never heard those clean octaves at the end before...

So, what did you think of his Tchaikovsky's 1st piano concerto that loaded up on youtube? Full 33 minutes.

I love Horowitz, but frankly I prefer Liszt's original version.
Me too
0:38 sounds so ominous

Horowitz's modification's are very effective for the public, and some of them are genial, but the main purpose is to make the piece easier...

Marvellous. Slightly ruined by the person constantly coughing in the audience. For goodness sake mate, take your cough outside.
Sem dúvidas um dos maiores pianistas do planeta terra!!!
8:57 - 9:06 , incredible octaves.

Brilliant, but much less so compared to Hamelin's of this piece.
