Johnners' revenge on Aggers at Edgbaston 1993
Просмотров 716 тыс.11 лет назад
Smarting from a first-rate set up the previous test, Brian Johnston exacts revenge on Aggers by setting up a spoof 'live' TV discussion with Fred Trueman and Jack Bannister - both having been instructed to be thoroughly uncooperative with the interviewer....
Agnew: “Did you know about this?!?!?!..” Trueman: (totally deadpan, cigar smoke drifting across Agnew)… “Yeah”. Comedy gold!
Just one of my go-to vids when I'm glum. Excellent 😂
boycott windup (100th hundred) + this = high laughter ....
Three legends in their own right
Jack Bannister , you gotta push him to speak.
michael vaughan brought me here...
Hilarious 😂. Sadly Fred wouldn’t last a minute in todays wokey world
Fred having a fag while on the wind up 😂😂
"You bastard" never was a phrase uttered with such passion😂😂😂
A young Jimmy and Broady would have been watching that!
Anyone come here from TMS Eng v WI 3rd test? Brilliant stuff.
I was there for this! Dear Jonners loved every second of it!the perfect set up!!
You were a great commentator too Neville,or as Johnners had you,Dr.No😂
😂😂😂
What happened to our country since this.
Lovely. Great commentator and personality Aggers. RIP Jack & Fred. It’s been going wokely downhill for a bit. You see less of Vaughan and Tuffers, got rid of Bumble. Thankfully he’s on Talksport now. Athers and Naz are good. TV doesn’t seem to want characters or professional commentators anymore.
Have just watched aggers doing his one man show in bristol. Fantastic anecdotes , showed this clip, very funny
The Legend, the man, the Myth; Fred Trueman. I met Mr Trueman in the early eighties during a charity match, I asked for his autograph during the luncheon interval and he said 'not now lad'. True Yorkshireman.
Brill😅
Absolutely fabulous content. Fiery Fred at his very erudite best. Loved his Agnew family analogy 😂
My opinion aggers worst TMS he has zero sense of humor drab man
Ha ha Freddy having a puff 💨
Trueman what a genius.
When we could still laugh at ourselves without there being a social media meltdown, lawyers involved, and people getting cancelled. That England is long gone now.
Great men.
when men could be men with banter. These days load of rubbish mix commentary.
Aggers that's sooo nasty! We love Geoffrey.
My son a few years back had trials for Wales as a U11, the entire group were told by a coach in his late 70's, Im not looking for bowlers that can bowl at 100 miles an hour or batsmen who hit 6's every ball.
Johnners. Aggers. Warnie. How damn silly that habit of putting ers or ie at the end of names by the Cricket crowd is. Childish. But then so are they. Silly little boys.
You're so right Cathy
I never tire of watching this.
Absolutely brilliant had me in stitches
Lovely chap was Jack Bannister, my dad knew him quite well , he arranged a trial for me in the early ,60,s at Warwickshires ground (I was a fast but rather wayward bowler) Jack wasn,t too impressed ,cause i heard no more , but i remember his encouraging words .😄
Post more Aggers!
"Jonners you bastard!"
Subtle and brilliant wind up! And to think in Preston and Ashington were teenage speedsters Freddie and Harmy !!
Almost comedic timing
From 1993. We did have a fast bowler at that time, but I think it is fair to say that he was a bit erratic and probably wasn't utilised properly. Fred Trueman's comments about bowling 1100 overs a season is an interesting one in the current climate, seeing that we do now have a few genuine quicks but they constantly break down.
Delicious!
Jack “Look at Leicestershire, they had one injury last season and they had to call you back” Fred “They were that desperate?” 🤣🤣🤣
As a Leicester person, I remember that game. To be fair Aggers took a five for, but had to bowl all his overs in one go because he would stiffen up 😂
Brilliant
Cricket pundits are, and always will be, so much better and funnier than football pundits. TMS was one of the most entertaining events on TV.
"was" being the key word there. They've now managed to ruin even that with PC diktat and diversity box-ticking.
Fred was a comedy genius as well as a cricket genius 😀
Brilliant!
Lovely memories of a very special time for TMS: Johnners' last year. How did Aggers set up BJ?
Amazing to think Fred Trueman's daughter Rebecca married Raquel Welch's son Damon. How the heck did they ever meet? What social circles were they in together?
six degrees of separation - the secret of the universe!
Bless Aggers here. In the early 80's he bowled high 80's. Not rockets, but quick enough to be considered fast. Saw him in a Leicestershire V Worcestershire match where he did a Mark Wood and get a bouncer over the keepers head one bounce for 4. Keeper was stood a good pitch length back as well.
"made himself into some sort of bowler" 😂
Comedy gold 😂😂😂😂😂
Every now and again, have to watch this again. To remind me of a Britain which once was. We were so lucky. Now we have to save something for our kids! Watched this, incidentally, when it first aired.
Sadly, it's an England that is fast disappearing in the rear view mirror. I miss those more gentle days of yore when we could laugh at ourselves. Now we're an Americanized, paranoid, PC mess.
Yes, it was wonderful. My grandfather had been captain of Darwen Cricket Club in the 1930's and later in the 1970's he would sit me down while TMS was on the wireless, talk about swing bowling and show me how they had shined the ball on one side. We would then have a game of Howzat. He would then practice handwriting with me, then we would go into the garden and do some work there (with TMS in the background). I was only a little toddler, but he had all the time in the world for me, there was no rush to do anything. Wonderful days and maybe not to be repeated.
That is wonderful.
Aggers n Fred. Toff n Tough.
Haha yes, Fred a tough talking Yorkshireman insinuating that Aggers was brought up in a rough council house, when his grandparents actually lived in a stately home.
