More progress on the 1969 Datsun SEMA Build, Sandblasting the body, sanding the body, and starting disassembly of the R32 GTR drivetrain

Great progress! Thank you for sharing that! Since you asked for an opinion on the color choice, I am going to let my bias say, my vote is for Sora Blue. It's an original color for the roadster, and it's classy. Plus, still goes with the other colors selected for the build. I realize it is not as in vogue as the grays of today, but it will definitely stand out at SEMA due to that fact, and in a good way.
Sora Blue is very similar to the color of the rendering I saw of a Mercedes 300SL concept that inspired this project! Really looking for a classy timeless color. I appreciate the input, this is definitely one of the hardest decisions of the project for me
Can't wait to see how it turns out!! best off luck. 🤙
that's a good looking robust full frame on this cars. I didn't know that., wish they weren't so small. really too small for todays traffic. someone would drive over you at a stop light forgetting you are down there.
It was very helpful, thank you
Personally, I think its too clean to cut up. At least find one that's a little rougher.
Oh I see you already have a rougher car. Oh well, you do you.
Looks like sema had majority Old vehicles with newer clothes
I’d replace the manual transmission with an automatic one. My brain can’t process all the gear shifting, that darned third pedal, & when to shift to whatever gear. Plus, automatic transmissions are more efficient and reliable
Here's an idea: Why don't you use paint stripper and leave for an hour or so before pressure washing with just water. Then your car body will not look like a lace curtain at the end?
What's This! . . . This looks interesting. I'll give ya a sub and see where this goes.
my Dad restored one of these when I was seven, I rode from B'ham to Trussville and back in it for about a year or two. I will always love this car because its a huge part f my childhood. Thank you from the kid in me.
Glass bead, 10-15$ bag, and you use a bunch. Also use bucket with lid and a wee hole for the pipe. Keeps water out of media. Good luck
May need to invest in a small tumbler for bolts and small pieces
Not a bad idea!
What an interesting project! I will be following this with great interest. Kudos for keeping it Datsun/Nissan!
Thanks! It’s been a fun project so far!
G'day from nsw Australia. This is going to be a awesome build
Thanks! I think so too…really wanting to take my time and really make something special. Hopefully make some entertaining content along the way.
Looking good!
Nice 👍
Thanks!
when you edit this make yourself louder your music compared to your voice are very different volumes
Just look at it as your building a step up Go-Kart Just use 40# or 35# grit to take down to bare metal. Do one section at a time. One fender then the door, quarter panel, trunk lid. I used to work in a body shop back in the late 80s early 90s and that's how I tackled car's and truck's. When we did full body and paint job's. It would be nice to have someone that can sand blast it that would come to you and let you know what's best to use on it. They have those moble guy's that come with there set up to shop's now to blast car's right in drive ways or shop's. Any way it goes your going to be filling the car with metal and body filler if your doing a Kustom. If your going to try and do metal work with led it's going to take to long where you'll loose interest in your project. Stay focused on your list of thing's to do so each thing that gets done you can cross it off your list. I've built a few rides and that's how I got it done and kinda figured out what it was going to cost for each thing that was going to get done. And you get to know the professional that do what they are good at. Some thing's your going to out source the work. Most of the old timers I worked with either retired or past away. Now I'm the old timer.
My brother has a 1964 Fiat roster he's own since 1973 he had it restored year's ago, but it's time to restore it again. I'm thinking of doing a body swap. That's what really needs. It has a Datsun engine in it. With VW brakes set up. Myself I think it needs a modern up date with everything new under it. Then do all the body modifications.
