There's another thing I would like to discuss. I used Mendeley for several years when I was writing my MSc thesis and paper. When I was submitting my paper for publication, the journal had a specific citation style which was not available in Mendeley, and it was very hard to customize the available styles. Again when it comes to collaborations, if several people will work or revise the manuscript, usually different citations managers don't go well together, and this causes considerable inconvenience.

Personally, I think annotations and things like that are much better done in Obsidian and close reading in LiquidText. As for managing citations, I'm pretty fed up with the busyness of these so-called reference managers and increasingly find that an Excel spreadsheet does a better job for me personally.

Now that Mendeley Desktop and the mobile apps are no longer being supported, are you still using Mendeley? I am a Mendeley Advisor and was talked into moving to Mendeley Reference Manager. However, I fly quite a bit and get a lot of work done on those flights, and Mendeley Reference Manager requires an internet login in order to start the program. Even closing the screen on a MacBook will require an internet login to continue using it, so it no longer works for flights. If you're no longer using Mendeley, what are you using now? If you're still using Mendeley, does the lack of a mobile app or offline use bother you? Mendeley also severely curtailed the use of groups and I believe that feature is going away with Mendeley Desktop.

Anyone know whether EndNote student is truly a once off purchase? I have heard that after about two years you need a software update and in order to get it you have to pay for another license? Can't find precise info about this one their website

Thank you so much for this video Fleur, so timely as I am preparing to submit my Masters dissertation in December. I noticed you're also using a Mac book, did the Mendeley Web importer extension require you to change your safari preferences? I have that pop up but it says "this extension can read and alter web pages you visit and see your browsing history on all websites. This includes sensitive information from web pages, including passwords, phone numbers and credit cards" - have you faced this issue?
