Since 1993, the Alberta Institute for Wildlife Conservation (AIWC) has been a champion for the rehabilitation of injured and orphaned wildlife. Accredited through the Alberta Veterinary Medical Association, AIWC serves the needs of Alberta’s diverse wildlife in Calgary and southern Alberta. As a registered charity, AIWC relies on charitable donations and dedicated volunteers to support the more than 1,600 varied animals in need of care every year. AIWC welcomes Alberta’s injured, orphaned, and oiled wildlife, small and large, from hummingbirds to moose calves.

How we help "teenage" hawks make their first migration
Juvenile hawks have to learn how to fly and fend for themselves, all while avoiding vehicles, windows, and other human-made hazards. We help these "teens" recover from their injuries in time for their first long distance migration!

The Least Weasel (Mustela nivalis), also known as the eurasian little weasel is a small carnivoran native exclusively to Eurasia, it is one of the eight extant weasel species in the genus Mustela, where its members are known as the "old world red-and-white weasels", the others being the common weasel (Mustela erminea), the missing-toothed pygmy weasel (Mustela astoodonnivalis), the sichuan weasel (Mustela russelliana), the mediterranean weasel (Mustela numidica), the egyptian weasel (Mustela subpalmata), the algerian weasel (Mustela algirica), and the morocco weasel (Mustela moroccana), the least weasel is also the most basal extant species of this genus, there are over twelve recognized subspecies of least weasel: the North European Least Weasel (Mustela nivalis nivalis), the Central European Least Weasel (Mustela nivalis vulgaris), the South European Least Weasel (Mustela nivalis italica), the Iberian Least Weasel (Mustela nivalis hispanica), the Ural Least Weasel (Mustela nivalis uralensis), the West Asian Least Weasel (Mustela nivalis boccamela), the Chinese Least Weasel (Mustela nivalis sinensis), the Korean Least Weasel (Mustela nivalis coreana), the Ezo Least Weasel (Mustela nivalis yesoidsuna), the Honshu Least Weasel (Mustela nivalis namiyei), the Siberian Least Weasel (Mustela nivalis pygmaea), and the Sakhalin Least Weasel (Mustela nivalis exilis).
NOOO NOT THE HICCUPS LIL MAN 😭😭
I just saw a very large rabbit/hare in Vegreville Alberta and I am confused. It did have a white tail but we don’t have white tails around here and it was extremely large with long ears like a hare . I know hares and rabbits can’t cross breed so what did I see? Can post a video but I was kind of far away
It sounds like a white-tailed prairie hare (also misleadingly known as a jackrabbit - they are not actually rabbits at all!). Does this look like it? en.wikipedia.org/wiki/White-tailed_jackrabbit
@@albertawildlife definitely thanks for the fast reply appreciate it

Look at those huge back feet! But useful flippers in the water. God's design is amazing =)
❤❤❤❤
Cute little fellow. Seems to be enjoying his first outing. He acted like he wasn't to sure about the water at first, scrambling out of it, hehe!
Cute,is he going to be released back in the wild? Will it be safe?
Yes, she will be released in 2026! It takes about 2 years for a baby beaver to learn all the skills they need to survive, but once she demonstrates her independence she'll be safe to go back to the wild.
He needs a friend now 🦫🦫
If we do have another beaver enter our care, we will introduce this little one to them before they are released!
@@albertawildlife I went to Canada last year (from Australia) and we went to Jericho Beach park and the cutest thing I ever saw were two wild beavers in the water, pulling along leafy branches very earnestly. We had to sit very still by the lake water for ages before we saw them, but so worth the wait!
ADORABLE❤❤❤❤❤❤
BEYOND CUTE!! I live in Alaska but have only seen adult beavers.
Damn, it's cute.
what a clumsy kitty

💯
The salmon is much more energy-dense than the fruit, but bears will eat whatever has calories in it.
