Where can I buy this kind of long floor board?
Amateur hour, surely. Doesn't even know how to use his calipers. There are inside and outside fingers. I agree his technique with the camo sux. Drill everything then drive? Stupid. But I'm curious as to your comment about 45deg vs butt joints... Can you explain?
Camo reccs drilling on hardwood to prevent splitting
Thanks for the comparison!
the camo system is by far the best true long term fastening system, plastic always gets brittle eventually. and why is he using a dril in the first place? impacts are everything. also that predrill has way too much bit inside the chuck because all he did was go halfway through the deck board? and who does joints at straight 90s? no real decking contractor does. 45's overlap pointed towards the house. this video is big time amateur hour.
You guys need an delivery driver out of Memphis Tn Cdl hotshot
So helpful. Thank you for your data!
Camo Edge clips are faster than both. Plus, if you planned your deck framing and board layout properly..... you'd have no butt joints.
Beautiful product - looks like an amatuer, cush as myself, can easily install this beautiful wood without killing my drill and bits.
Best video on RUclips. Old boy in camo pants, mic stand, good info. You guys win!
Hi Andrew. Just one coat initially. Let it soak in for 5-10 minutes and then wipe it down. I came back about 2 weeks later and did another really light coat just to get the pollen / dirt off the table!
How many coats for bare wood to get started? Thanks
What's the name of the hydraulic tool?
Do you guys install the floors on trailers I have a trailer and I need to reach do the floor I have a 48 ft RGN lowboy
So if it’s a deck, I don’t need to clean with super deck or anything prior to applying the Exoshield?
Whether or not you need a deck cleaner all depends on the current condition of the deck and what it’s been finished with in the past. If the wood was recently purchased or installed, you shouldn’t need to use a deck cleaner on it. We would simply recommend cleaning the surface with a hose and brush. However, if you’re applying a maintenance coat a year or more after the deck was installed, we’d recommend using a deck cleaner or soap and water along with a brush to remove any grime and dirt. It’s important to then let the deck dry for at least 3 days prior to using ExoShield. If any water is still in the wood, it will prevent the ExoShield from properly penetrating. For hardwood decking such as Ipe, Batu, Cumaru, Tigerwood, etc., we recommend pressure washing the deck every 2-3 years to fully remove dirt, grime, and open up the wood fibers. Again, it’s important to allow the deck to fully dry for 3 or more days prior to applying ExoShield. Let us know if you have any additional questions!
Excellent table. I have found by trial and error that oil in high humidity conditions will turn to mold. Mold seeds on oil but not polyurethane or man made finishes. The mold shows up as tiny but noticeable grey specks. If the deck is in full sun all day it may not happen but it then takes hold in the fall and winter. The local hardwood teak and mahogany distributor in both Naples Florida and in coastal Delaware confirmed he does not recommend oil based finishes. I was disappointed because oil does make it special. But there are alternatives I found with water based finishes so long as they do not form a film (which will peel). Wood is tough.
When it comes to staining hardwoods installed in an exterior environment we recommend using tung-oil-based wood stains intended for exterior use such as ExoShield. Products like ExoShield include other crucial components in the formula to help prevent mildew and mold from growing. Natural oils like Tung Oil and Linseed Oil can take a long time to dry, which is why added moisture can result in mildew and mold thriving. Most exterior oil-based wood stains have additives that accelerate the drying process and curing process of the oil within the stain, which mitigates this issue. In addition, the type of oil used can make a big difference. For example, Linseed Oil and Vegetable Oil are much more susceptible to mildew and mold than Tung Oil is. This is why most lower-cost products tend to result in mildew or mold outbreaks. The best oil-based exterior wood stains use polymerized Tung Oil with drying accelerators, a solvent which helps the oil penetrate further into the wood, and a fungicide to help prevent mold and mildew. Typically oil-based products have much better UV protection and a deeper, richer appearance when compared to water-based formulas. Please let up know if you have any additional questions!
Is this walnut or mahogany?
Initial application of stain was Mahogany and then maintenance were done in Clear.
Steve Getsiv thanks . I am confused which one to order from exoshield ( whether walnut or mahogany) . I like that shiny glossy finish that this brand provides.
@@vigneshsan7976 What species of wood are you staining? The Walnut provides a rich red brown color and the Mahogany is deep red color. Either one can be polished up to leave a satin or semi gloss final finish. Multiple very light coats and hand rubbing are required - be sure to rub it in and not just leave it on top. You can French polish as well for interior projects. I did that on my cello. www.novausawood.com/cello-musical-instrument-finish-ground-coat
Steve , thanks for the information . Really helpful. I already placed an order for exo shield 1 gallon of mahogany and 1 gallon of walnut. I am planning to mix different ratio and try it out to see what works for me. I will be receiving them today and will keep you posted how the finish comes out . This is for my front yard modern horizantal fence i am building. Wood type is redwood S4S smooth surface.
@@SteveGetsiv I ended up doing 50-50 - Mahogany and walnut for my modern fencing. results were great. ruclips.net/video/j0kh8P8lX3o/видео.html
