Should you buy the Milwaukee M12 3inch random orbit sander or detail sander?
I give an overview of my experiences with the M12 detail sander and 3" random orbit sander. #woodworking #tools #construction

Vehicle video man love your shot from a fellow Woodworker happy Woodworking to you
Thank you, same to you
That's definitely real nass like indeed
Appreciate it sir
Keep up the good work!
Really appreciate it
Great video as always👌🏼
Thanks I really appreciate it
Great video, good job!
I really appreciate you taking the time to comment like that. Thank you.
We have a few stacks with literally same gear and yep we have a bunch of yellow tools in red boxes 😂😂
Great minds think alike lol
I support man I'm just now learning how to do woodwork at the ripe age of 20
It's definitely a fun thing to learn
Don’t worry I’m 25 just getting started in a one car garage
Gotta start somewhere
@@JayDetailz i ain't even got a garage lmfaooo😭
I started my career as a finish carpenter. I was doing woodworking in customers driveways lol
I pray at the Festool alter ...
People use to pray to the Greek gods too lol
Cool dog
He really is. I appreciate the comment
Beautiful wolf/dog I have one he’s a quarter wolf and best animal I’ve ever had
Jacks 30% and honestly such a good boy. They definitely have some none dog behavior though lol
What kind of dog
Czech vlcak (wold dog in English) he is 30% carpathian wolf
Beautiful dog I’ll subscribe.
I appreciate that. I'm going to try and work him into more videos.
My detail sander is constantly shutting off with the dancing lights as if it’s overheated even if it’s been sitting overnight
Mine definitely get hot, but I never had that issue
Yeah it sucks first it started with my small 1.5 amp batteries that came with my cordless screwdriver. So I thought it must be an issue with those batteries but now it’s doing it with my 4 amp battery as well as a 6 amp battery I have. So it’s got to be an issue with the sander right?
One would think. Milwaukee does have a pretty good warranty, at least. You can try sending it in to them.
Your boxes look pretty vlose to mine lol , if we was on same job alot of our stuff would be interchangeable 😅
Someone has some good taste I see lol
Overall I think most of the annoyances with the Milwaukee installation driver seem to be overblown. I've been using this the past 3 years and it has been my favorite Milwaukee tool that I own. But Im also open to other brands so I'm not a die hard Milwaukee fanboy. I do appreciate how they are coming out with new products left and right and have the most in depth tool lineup I think out of all the brands. That being said, I can see how there are advantages to the Dewalt installation driver over the milwaukee that you pointed out. Thanks for the video!
I appreciate the comment. I dealt with it for a long time before I found an alternative. Having use the dewalt for months now I'm glad i switched.
why do you love/hate the 3 in orbital sander? Why do you love the detail sander? I think you can change the pad on the 3in orbital to the triangle one? It's just a hex screw? Would love a review or your thoughts on the two tools.
I have been considering doing a video on them. I really hated the 3 inch until I was 18' up on scaffolding doing a feature wall, and needed to sand some filler lol. I think it's good on a job site, kinda meh in the wood shop. I'll definitely do a video on it though.
Sliding T-bevel
Thank you sir (im assumingyour gender based on my analytics. I have a 98.7% vhance of being correct) , still couldn't think of the name lol.
I also suffer from CSS...good video....I see that you were already made aware of the audio...maybe it's karma for storing your bumble bee stuff in the big red boxes... lol. just kidding...I also have some yellow and lime green stuff.
I appreciate you watching and the comment, thank you. CSS is no joke, I won't be wearing my glasses though lol
Dude please pry that half Joey by I believe “stackible” back into a usable state
I'll get around to it I'm sure. Wasn't by stackable, was a company called alpha engineered. Good price and shipped fast.
@ thanks for the update, yeah get that thing reusable, you said you didn’t use often but I’m sure it came in handy when you did. I’m looking one with folding l brackets that way I can pop it up flush with the rest of my pack outs
there is so many cool accessories coming out for these things now, its hard not to go broke
Audio disappears at 19:27 other than that great video..
I appreciate the heads up on that.
@@BesserBuilds Was that the trigger warning?
Gotta love the saw dust on an edge rip!
Doesn't help that I hit the wrong remote and didn't turn on dust collection lol.
How do you get the pins to lock into the wood?
So before I add glue, I test fit and clamp it, the pressure of the clamp actually dents into the wood. Then ill add glue and use the dents to make sure everything lines up perfectly.
Monochrome ahh room
Isn't that a photography thing?
@@BesserBuilds kinda, it can mean black and white for a picture, or more broadly, anything with only one color
Gotcha
I’ve owned the Milwaukee for several years and it’s one of my favorite tools. But I hate having to look at the top every time I pick it up before I engage the trigger. To me that’s a step backwards.
I have used it every day for years, and I'm really happy I got to replace it with something else.
I have logos on mine and I've got 1 job out of it in 7 years, waste of money and it's a invitation for thieves.
I already have a couple calls from it. That's the reason I never did my truck, I didn't want it broken into. I live out in the country, can't see my house from the road, and i never leave the trailer on jobsites, that's why I went ahead and did it.
That’s cool and all, have you used a Mirka deros3 orbital sander? I couldn’t recommend it enough, you’ll actually love sanding. It’s pricey but so worth it
Didn't even know it existed till just now
@ fantastic stuff. I won mine through my company, they had a contest for safe driving and the prize could be $600 so i said just buy me this sander 😂
defiantly one way to acquire tools lol. I will take a look at it.
Ummmmm, how do you adjust the height again? I went back through the video jumping around. I didn't find mention of that. The adjusting cranks are caddy-corner from each other and you've tied the benches together with the top.
Honestly, I just go back and forth a little at a time. If you are looking to raise and lower it regularly, I wouldn't tie them together like that. It did work very well for getting the height correct for my tablesaw and I have left it there since
What is the point of hiding your phone number if your website and business name is on there? It’ll take 2 seconds to find your phone number
A lock on a door is only for honest people lol. If they want it they can work a little first
Dewalt fucked up by not making it dual bevel. 90p percent of carpenters are not going to buy it just for that reason. Pretty much useless 😕
I agree with you ibly because the housing is so low you can cut much standing against the fence. Personally, I rarely bevel my saws anyways, so I don't mind, if I'm doing any kind of miter work on bigger stuff, I get the ple 780 out.
I have the exact same one. It works great especially when you put a 60 V Dewalt battery on it.
Thing cuts all day with a 60 volt on it.
Love mine, use it for all kinds of trim/casing It's a dream for quarter round
I have to agree about the quarter round. It just really appreciate handy saw.
Finally a how to make money woodworking video that makes sense. Gotta go burn some fence picket Adirondack chairs
Hahaha. I mean you can do it making smalls ans outdoor furniture... I sure as hell don't want to though.
Good info- thanks! Now how does that "beast" hold up against the Multi Tool with sanding adapter?
I mean that's like comparing a belt sander to a random orbit sander lol.
Holy shit.. finally someone NOT just sweet talking a big brand, appreciate you honesty! 👍
Appreciate the comment and you watching
Finally someone who keeps it real and doesn’t only praise this thing in a sponsored video! Nice review.
Thank you. And if I keep it up I'll never have a sponsored video to lie in haha.
I honestly think if you are needing a small sander like that the Rotex 90 that it's based off of is the way to go. You get an 3" orbital and a triangular head for corrners and can actually even get a specialty one for slats and things. But beyond it being a detail sander it also can absolutely eat up old finishes when refinishing things.. I almost always have a sander hooked to a hose anyway so I don'tind hooking it up to the midi. But idk I just personally have loved it since I got it a year and a half ago
You know I have never met anyone who regrets buying a festool sander of any type, me included, that being said the price difference is real and money saved on the sander is money I can spend elsewhere.
Two handed it? I've never had that luxury 😢
there is a support group for that... I am not in it but i will hook you up with the address and we meet at 9 on Fridays... I mean they meet at 9....
Houze?
Come again?
Thx I love my m12 home plate sander too it's the best
Home plate? I like it
Great info thanks for the content
Appreciate you watching
now put the planer on a rotating table so you can flip it and feed the wood back through without having to carry to wood back to the other side
Ha if I could find a mechanism that could hold up to the vibration I might
That math though
yeah i honestly didn't check it till just now i just trusted haha
Facts bro
thanks, I don't think it gets said enough though
Some people should hear this
thank you and frankly I think everyone should. I made the mistake of going to college to get a degree in business and accounting. i would like to think i can use this channel to share some of what i learned there with people for free so they don't have to lol.
I work with my dad doing trim and such and I don't understand how people can do such terrible jobs with their angles. I'm certainly not the best, but it really isn't that hard to get your angles to line up good.
I completely relate here. I just don't understand it. It feels like it's all just been made over complicated.
I wish they had the triangle pad with a dust port
it would be nice, but I also like how small the thing is as is. I can just run around the jobsite with it.
@@BesserBuilds i totally agree. i also love both of these sanders. but it would be nice to have the same new features like the holster and dustport hopefully they make some sort of upgrade kit that allows us to upgrade the triangle pad style of sander
Its Milwaukee, they wont do an upgrade they will just do a gen 2 lol
Yes, yes it did help good sir.
glad to hear that
What exactly are you sanding with those? That moulding should be sanded by hand
Those are going to be cabinet doors, and some of it is sanded by hand, but the detail sander takes a ton of time off that.
I honestly have loved my Rotex 90, it especially what this tool is deaigned off of but it actually has 3 different head attachments that basically combined those two tools into one. It has a regular circular head, a triangular one for detail sanding and then a long triangle for getting into tight places like slats. The other great thing about it is almost scary at how good it is at taking finishes off when you use it in its stripping mode instead of its orbital sanding mode. Its not cordless but I generally always run a hose anyway so its not a huge deal. Its one of festools tools thats actually worth the price for it. Tbh the only downside is the sandpaper is rather expensive and since 3" and the specific triangular pads were not common you are pretty much stuck with theirs but im glad to see that there are at least other options popping up.
I can't say im very familiar with that one. I appreciate that info. You can get 3 inch 3m extract on Amazon.
Where are you from
Good ole Youngstown Ohio... kinda I live in a small town outside of there out in the woods
Milwaukee does not make a good sander
I used to have their 18v random orbital which I soon sold cause it was horrible. And I love to shit on milwaukee (see my instalation driver video) but I do actually like these tools. Although the 3 inch is lacking in ergonomics which seems to be a theme with them.
