Thor GC 1541S Brushless Servo Motor Install
Installing a brushless servo motor and a needle positioner on the Thor GC1541S. You do need a brushless servo motor to install the needle positioner. You can find both at a number of places on the internet, I found mine on Amazon.

Just came across this video, love my P 38 . One addition I'd highly recommend is the add on pellet hopper to allow for bags of pellets. I'd also swivel the stove to blow into your room. Burned pellets for 20 years, just to bad the price of pellets has gotten to what it is. :(
Hey thank you for watching. It is a good stove I did think plenty about adding a hopper extension and automatic light with a thermostat but I actually ended up selling it the other day. My shop situation has changed and I will be moving to a different location. I do agree about the price of pellets and the prices of larger pellet stoves and in the long run and my situation I ended up putting radiant floors in my new shop. Again I appreciate the comment and watching the video.
My bolt gets stuck anout 1/8 of the way as its going home. I think its hanging up on the hammer but i wanted others who have delt with this to chime in. Its a zastava m70.
Mine did that for a while, not really sure what it was and seemed like it was hanging up on the hammering too or maybe the rails. I kept on putting oil to it and working the action a ton.
@blacklaboutdoors7285 yeah I just ran my action about 100 times and it's almost better. That's the beauty of this platform. Just run till it smooths out I guess. Thank you for your reply.
Yep, just wears itself in. It’s no problem and thanks for watching
Any idea if the subsonic ammo will function properly? I have the integra upper on mine and was looking to install this trigger. Great video btw.
10:02 any idea if the subsonic ammo will function properly? I have the integra upper on mine and was looking to install this trigger. Great video btw.
Not really sure how sub sonic would work in it, I don’t have any to try or a suppressor to run either but it would be neat to try. Thank you I appreciate it.
10:02 any idea if the subsonic ammo will function properly? I have the integra upper on mine and was looking to install this trigger. Great video btw.
not sure if it would cycle normally or not, I have not tried and I unfortunately do not have any on hand to find out. Thanks for watching.
How's it serving you several years out? Original parts available? Customer service?
Still working, only use it for binding anymore and anything I need a zig zag stitch for, but still like. Haven’t needed to repair so I am not sure about parts availability but I do know this machine is a clone and parts should be available. Haven’t contacted the people I bought it from on eBay so I can’t say about the CS. I do plan on hooking up a servo motor to it that I took off my other machine. Thanks for watching
Thanks for the vid man! Just ordered mine for my garage! Almost went with the Stanley SL18115P but thought I'd spend the extra money for more attachments and a better filter
You’re welcome and thanks for watching, I’m glad I could help in some way.
Just got an m18 track saw on sale for $300ish with tax. I am looking into these tracks, they work with Milwaukee also, though no anti tip. With the high end tracks you can use them without clamps because they stick to the wood surface. Do you need to use clamps with these or do they stick to the surface? Thanks
Nice, always liked the Milwaukee stuff. Yeah it does have the grip strip on the bottom but doesn’t grip as much as a like. Thanks for watching.
They usually overlap 3-4 inches. Really it’s being confident in your stitches and sticking patterns, using good quality materials including the thread; thread size I use 92 and above with some many stitches per inch. I use a new needle on every project. I hang off the ground for a few days before I go any higher. There is a book on stitch patterns, can’t think off hand but it shows different stitch patterns for climbing harnesses, also look at the stitch patterns on regular safety harness that come with a tree stand. Yes, I agree it’s not easy finding something to test with, I’m not sure if individuals can send them for TMA or might just be really expensive. I know Tethrd has talked some about the testing that goes into their stuff and CMG also does too. If I can of think of anything else I will add it on. Also with the overlap of the main webbing, I run the 1” tubular webbing all the way around and by that time you have several lines of stitching through the webbing. You could also buy a cheap used saddle and take it apart and see how their stitching is down. I have done this before. Thanks for watching and the comment I appreciate it.
How long was your overlap of the main 2inch webbing for the "frame" (that makes your bridge loops? Also, what kind of test do you do in the field before you say it's good enough to get 30ft up? I've only made one for my 35lb 5yr old and it held me without any issues bouncing on it when I was around 300lbs. I think climbing industry standard is around 15x your body weight or weight rating for fall rating on harnesses but I want to make a saddle for myself and it's not easy to find a 3000+lb method to test
I usually overlap anywhere from 2-4” back to the middle of the saddle where my leg loops attach. No scientific testing, trying out at ground level first and go from there and have trust in my sewing patterns, I always make sure I am using good quality thread with a breaking strength normally at least a v92 size, new needles on the project, good quality materials.
Great looking saddle, i know its 3 yrs old but i just finished making my first saddle for my 5yr old daughter. I did it with a cheap Brothers sewing machine from Walmart but i ended up breaking the plastic rack for the pinion on the bobbin trying to go through 6layers of webbing haha. I oicked up the chinese leather patch sewing machine that shoukd be able to go through that mich webbing like butter for very cheap. Then ill custom make some more saddles. Love the DIY mentality!!
Thank you. Yes I have seen those machines and some videos on RUclips of people hooking up a servo motor to them. That’s awesome making a saddle for her. Many great companies out there but it’s nice making one that’s custom fit for yourself. Thanks for watching and the comment, I appreciate it.
@@blacklaboutdoors7285 yup I went ahead and got the servo kit too. I haven't got it setup yet but I'm very excited to play around with it and make some more stuff. First thing on my list is a new roll-up pouch for my rappel rope. The first one I made it's just a bit too small and falling apart from bad stitching (it was the first thing I made)
@@andrewsanders5774good deal. Well if you have any questions or any let me know.

Hey was there an update to this?
No video, but I had to fitting with some files to get to work. It works, sorry there isn’t an update video for it.
@@blacklaboutdoors7285 No worries, thanks for responding.
I feel you man 😅 happened to me too many times! A Machine with a 'ft-of-Bottom-Thread-Left' display would be awesome. Something like the gas-gauge in the car 😁
lol yes it would be for sure. Thanks for watching
@@blacklaboutdoors7285 <3
I came across your channel because I’m looking at an Omega zig zag machine. I see you’ve upgraded. What were your impressions of the Omega machine? Thanks
lol, yes, I did. Really the main reason was the presser foot height. The omega is a good machine, and really lacking in presser foot height, the power is fine, but I plan upgrading it with the servo motor I took off the Thor machine. I upgraded the Thor machine with a brushless servo motor. Sailrite makes a worker B motor that you can upgrade the omega with, but if you plan on keeping your machine in a table like mine then it makes more sense to get a regular industrial motor and upgrade with a regular sewing machine table or you can get just the leg assembly with the foot pedal. Hopefully this helps and thank you very much for watching.
I know this is an older video, but looking around for some help! Trying to install the same trigger in my 15-22. Im running into an issue. Im NOT talking about the polymer tabs you shaved off...when trying to put the safety in, theres part of the trigger that just barely blocks the path for the safety to go in the hole. On the rear of the trigger, theres these small tabs that seem to impede the safety from going through the hole when installing. Did you run into this, or have any advice at all? Thank you!!
First thanks for watching. No, nothing on the inside, just the tabs on the outside. You might have to rotate the safety back and forth while you slide it in there to get it past that part of the trigger.
@blacklaboutdoors7285 I tried all sorts of wiggling and couldn't get it through. I've only done 3 lowers in my life and always installed trigger, then safety. Today, I took the trigger out completely. Then installed safety and finagled the trigger in afterward. It now works like a charm. Cant wait to throw the can on and go try it out this weekend! Looks like a blast, no pun.
That’s great, glad to hear. It is a ton of fun.
Anyway to upgrade the motor/slow speed operation? These seem to be like full throttle or nothing
Sailrite has an upgraded motor you can put on it, I think it is called the worker b motor. Eventually I am going to install the servo motor from my Thor sewing machine onto mine. Here’s the link for the worker b motor and thanks for watching. www.sailrite.com/Sailrite-WorkerB-Power-Pack-Motor-System-110V
I believe a huge part of the lack of slow speed operation is the cheap foot pedal control as well
I think you get a new foot pedal with the work b motor which I’m sure is 100x better.
Thanks, I appreciate the video. The tracks seem worth it. Seems like a good savings and a decent storage bag to boot. The things i appreciate about the more expensive Makita tracks is that the Makita saw has a tab that will lock to the tracks when making angle cuts otherwise you have to hold the saw down onto the tracks with your other hand otherwise it'll want to tip.
Thanks for watching and the kind words. Yes that is a benefit for the Makita tracks, at the moment I don’t find myself doing many angled cuts like that or even long cuts where I need the tracks linked up. But I definitely love how quite it is compared to a regular circular saw and the dust collection is pretty good too.
Did you have an issue installing the safety switch it’s getting caught on two little tabs on the trigger any help ??
Yes, you have to shave off one of the tabs otherwise the safety won’t rotate to the binary position. Hopefully that helps you out and thanks for watching.
This is so nice
Sorry if I missed it in the video but about how long does a full hopper last you?
Around 24hrs if I leave it so the room temp is around 65-67, the floors of the shop aren’t insulated either so it probably would be efficient if they were. Thanks for watching.
@@blacklaboutdoors7285 that’s still not bad though honestly.
Thanks for the reply!
Yw, I thought getting a hopper extension just it would last longer between fills.
@@blacklaboutdoors7285 yeah we are looking into one for my grandparents. They use a wood stove to heat their house and it’s getting harder on my grandpa to get wood. We all try to help but it’s getting harder as we all get older and busier. We are thinking of trying one of these to make it easier on them. We could all pitch in to buy them pellets way easier than finding time to go cut wood.
I too have not gotten what I expected from this machine. I have a WF24LNZZMW sewing machine and I really need help to install a servo motor, which I've already purchased. A belt or belts from the flywhee to the servo moter I need. But are unable to locate the proper belt of belts. Any and all help would be highly appreciated. My question is Have you made a video on how to install motor?
I have not changed the motor yet on mine, but I am assuming you can get what you need from sailrite. They have an option where you can put their servo motor on one of their zigzag machines. I have not made a video yet but I will when I install the motor. You might want to check out the RUclips channel thejasonofalltrades, he has some videos on installing servo motors. Thanks for watching and I hope this helps.
Hi, I don't understand what you talking about between 6 minutes and 6min53. What is the piece of the walking foot are you talking about? Thanks.
The silver hinges on the back of the bed in the table, so you can tilt the machine back. Hopefully that’s what you are asking about. Thanks for watching
I appreciate you taking the time to record everything and take us through the steps. Nice job!
It’s no problem at all, glad it could help and thanks for watching.
I just ordered a jointer from grizzly and it had quite a few problems as well. I work for one of the major brands out there and let me tell you if the box is even torn a little bit. It’s marked down as a scratch and dent and sold at a steep discount. They’re clearly is no final inspection on their products. I love grizzly tools, but every tool should be inspected before it leaves the factory employees need to know if there’s any blemishes do not send it out.
I agree with you 100% I wish they still had a store in Williamsport Pa and I least could look at them before buying something or be able to buy a scratch and dent one. Sorry you had trouble as well.
@@blacklaboutdoors7285 thank you. Just so you know the 12 inch jointer is only 1.5 hp so it doesn’t work well for Face joining wide boards it’s under powered. I had a hard time face joining 8 inch boards and I was only taking off a 32nd of an inch.
That’s too bad, hopefully sometime I will upgrade my bench top jointer (cutTech) to a full size. I keep seeing these older 12”-16” wide jointers on marketplace, one would like have one of those but I gotta have somewhere to put it.
@@blacklaboutdoors7285 I hear that Check out metal buildings. I live in North Carolina and they’re pretty affordable when you’re ready to get something. Good luck buddy.
Yeah I have been looking at them, appreciate it.
Just hooked up the same heater and got no power for some reason. Tester shows power coming to the terminals in the heater but nothing? Using a single 40 amp breaker and 8/2. Wondering if the unit is faulty....
Maybe the wiring to the controller isn’t hooked up right, not really sure without being there to look at. If it is faulty hopefully you can exchange it easily.
@@blacklaboutdoors7285 Perhaps. They did say they would take it back...so I guess im pulling it down...
Hopefully the new works for you
Does your longest forward stitch and reverse stitch have the same length? My TuffSew (same exact machine) does not.
I am not sure, never measured it. Never noticed it to be obviously different either. When I get it set back up I will definitely check it out. Thanks for watching, I appreciate it.
thanks much for the video. Wish I could have seen you where you hooked the wires to the BOTTOM of the furnace just for giggles.
Thank you for watching, glad it could help. Yeah I should have had a close up of that. Thanks again, I do appreciate it.
@blacklaboutdoors7285 well did they ever take care of you?
Honestly I can’t remember now what was done, I don’t have the emails anymore. I still use the saw and it still works with no issue. I wonder if their things will be worse or better since they partnered with Home Depot. Thanks for watching.
Have you had any problems with the stove pipe reverse drawing in cold air when the stove is cold on a cold day? Had that problem with a wood stove in my old house.
Can’t say that I have even though there have been a couple times when the stove was out when I got to the shop in the morning because of it having a smaller hopper, but I didn’t have any trouble starting it. I couldn’t feel a draft coming in either when relighting the stove. I have with a regular wood stove before though, it wasn’t a lot but you could feel the cold air. Thanks for watching.
"Paid $1300..." One year later it's priced at $2375. WTF!
Really?!!! Wow that’s a jump. Thanks for watching.
My bolt gets stuck back when I shoot mine any solution?
Mine did the same thing, not sure if the return spring wasn’t strong enough, but I kept working it back and forth until it wore itself in, plus some go-juice from geissele
What’s the model please?
WF24LNZZ, this the model number I found on eBay. But you will want to make sure it is the long arm version which has a 9” bed. There are couple different ones for sale from singerman12 on eBay one with a monster wheel and one without. Thanks for watching
I just bought the WF24LNZZMW from clinique de la machine à coudre from Laval Quebec canada
Maybe it’s the same but with a monster wheel instead?
In your video, you were talking about a sailrite machine instruction manuel. Do you know the model? Thanks
That’s great, I hope works great for you. www.sailrite.com/Guidebook-for-Sailrite-Ultrafeed-LSZ-Sewing-Machine

Do you have a video or a description on how you were able to in-line stack your sticks? For example did you have to drill a hole in the tubing for the standoff hole, etc. Any input would be greatly appreciated.
No video on it and I don’t have the sticks any more to show. I drilled two different holes, one for the tree standoff and one for the step. They are somewhat like the beast sticks. The standoff on the top of the stick is below the step and the bottom standoff is above the bottom step.
@@blacklaboutdoors7285 thank you for getting back to me so quick, my buddy has a set of the beast sticks I’ll see if he can let me borrow one to take measurements. Thanks again and Merry Christmas.

$400 for a trigger is fucking stupid. built one for around $30 myself and have thousands of rounds through it. 600 RPM
It’s not for everyone, but that’s awesome you made your own! And running good. Thanks for watching.
13 minutes of jacking your jaw instead of showing how the install goes. Then 3 minutes of work. I don’t care why you haven’t uploaded in a while. I’m here for info. The way you filmed the actual work being done, the whole video could have been completed in less than 5 minutes.

Does the 3” exhaust pipe run all the way through that 6” stove pipe? Or does it just connect there and uses the regular chimney for the rest of the way? I am taking out a wood burning stove and putting in a pellet stove myself. Looking to save on installation costs. Thanks!
Thanks for watching. Just to the stove pipe, I got an insert from my stove dealer that goes inside that triple wall pipe. Your welcome
How did you get you safety selector to run past the knobs on the M&p that keep it between regular fire and safe to make it to binary mode? Mine just hits the knobs
I filed or sanded the one down
@@blacklaboutdoors7285 do you know if it’s illegal to do that?
Thank you for this review. I was at the Grizzly store in Springfield Mo yesterday looking at the 513 series. I don’t think I will be buying any Grizzly tools. Thank you.
Thanks for watching and you are welcome. Don’t get me wrong I still use my table saw and bandsaw and dust collectors from grizzly. I think if you can get the tools you need on sale from them I think it is good deal and I wish they still had the store here in PA, I would have went and looked the tools first and maybe even save more money with buying a floor model. Again thanks for watching, just trying to share my experiences.
are you still running the machine, any issues?
I haven’t been lately. I am running a Thor 1541s right now, but when I get more room I am going to have it back up and running and I am going to have a servo motor attached to it. But still my only complaint was the presser foot height.
Nice setup , what do you do with all your wood scraps? I just installed a magnum countryside pellet/wood stove.
Thank you. When I had the wood stove in there I would burn them, as long as it didn’t have stain, paint, or glue I would burn it and would cut down on the how much firewood I would use. The only thing when burning soft wood is the soot build up in the chimney but I have triple piping and I would make sure to burn it wide open for a while to make sure it all got burnt up. How is that working for you?
It appears that you swapped out the bolt release,, why? Was it a matter of better curb appeal or did something go wrong with the OEM release?
Better curb appeal
Thanks for the review. Can you tell me how much pellets these things use. I know it varies a lot so just a ball park. Thanks
Your welcome and thanks for watching. During the winter I will use around a bag to bag and half a day, that’s for 24hrs.
