We use to sing this song in class. The teacher played it on a record player or maybe a cassette player this was maybe 1990's. I went to Jefferson Elementary in Hawthrone CA. Crazy how time goes by

Man I just had my first child and my teacher in kindergarten played this song every morning on her record player in 1985, now I can share it with my kid!!!!

I was cleaning my bedroom earlier this month when I stumbled across an old Fun Years sing-a-long cassette player (with two mics!) and a Maxell cassette labeled "Miss Jackie's Songs". (Ms. Jackie was my preschool teacher; she made that cassette for me many years ago.) I listened to the cassette on the aforementioned player (which still works; it's battery-powered and I barely used it) as I continued cleaning and when this song played, I opened Shazam on my phone and made it listen to the song. After many years, I finally learned the artist: Greg & Steve. (Only the song titles are written on the back of the cassette case; no artists.) The tape also contains three other G&S classics: "Days of the Week", "The Number Rock", and "The Body Rock". And to my surprise, I learned that some of the songs date back to the 70s and 80s! ("Months of the Year" was released in 1978.) Thank you Ms. Jackie for being an awesome preschool teacher AND for making that cassette for me, and thank you Greg & Steve for making these timeless nostalgic songs.

it feels like it’s 2011 again

This was my number one jam in kindergarten back in 1980-81. I told my music teacher--a gentleman by the name of Mr. Seastrong--that this was my favorite song. He looked me in the eye and told me that I should sing it every first of the month. More than 40 years later, as we kickoff 2022, I still follow that advice.

I remember back in 1997 when I was in Kindergarten, my teacher would play this song every single morning. I actually remember in vivid detail my many great experiences in that class and that I had a leg up going into it because I already knew my ABC's and 123's and my months of the year because I was a HUGE fan of Barney & Friends. Despite my advantage I actually failed and had to redo Kindergarten in 1998 lol! It's always my go to fun fact about myself, the boy who did Kindergarten twice. :P

My grandma taught kindergarten and I remember being in her class. She was forced to retire after she had to get her foot amputated. She’s still alive but I’ll never forget the memories.
