While 128 Grazer was perched at the lip of Brooks Falls, she got a little distracted by one of the local insects. Luckily the fly made it away unscathed and hopefully had a fun story to tell.

806's cub spent so much time swimming the summer of 2023 he was nicknamed Michael Phelps! - here is a short clip showing how powerful the current of the Brooks River can be even when the water is shallow.

Filmed July 19, 2023 just as the salmon run was starting. 747 had been pacing back and forth at the top of the falls and I took the opportunity to film him and pan down to some of the many salmon that were trying to make their way upstream.

This footage was taken while Yosemite Valley was evacuated to visitors. I've never seen the water this high, even in high water Spring months. Even the viewing area was flooding!

Here's a short video of conditions encountered during a hailstorm (no rain at all) in July 2015 in the Dusy Basin of Kings Canyon National Park. After the big views open up and the hail gets really intense, I zoom in on The Palisades, where huge amounts of hail create what look to be waterfalls of frozen precipitation. 821 was one of the last male bears that I thought would turn into a potential cub killer. He was always quite soft and lower ranked when playing with other young male bears. Will he turn into the next Lurch?

Wow, this is much clearer than when i saw on the live cams. I didn't realize how close 806J came to disaster.
It was pretty wild to see it through the camera considering these types of events usually happen away from the webcams.
