Aron Szilagyi at 17 Years Old | 2007 World Fencing Championships

Here's some footage of Aron Szilagyi competing at the 2007 world championships. He was a cadet at the time, yet was already competing on the senior Hungarian team. It's definitely interesting to see how his fencing has evolved over the years. Discord: discord.gg/Dehg3FtyR7 Original video: ruclips.net/video/riFZ118KDyQ/видео.html
I would love to learn to fence
Your videos make me want to fence so badly

Too bad
Me at 16 playing video games and being a normal kid😅
which world cup is this? I can't find in FIE site somehow
Not a World Cup! This is the Strasbourg open which is a tournament in France but open to internationals
The match with Teodosiu here is interesting. Patrice demonstrates that he can pull him short, can hit him on prep and in particular can take up the attack first if both fencers stop. This is a huge problem for his opponents as he is fast enough to fence fully open eye, so they can't guess what's coming and he can counter them very effectively.
his prep step actually looks very similar to Oh's which I found interesting
So confused why they switched countries

Long armed, long legged lanky 120 pound quick kids with a great sense of how to AIP in the middle and a few other tricks in the bag. Yes, you're right. The future of sabre fencing. I always wonder how these kids would hold up under other conditions or previous interpretations of ROW in the 4m zone along with the smart sabres the Russians were looking into before they got kicked out of this great party that assumes this is the only kind of fencing that exists.
omg I'm in this video :D
Come to the alumni picnic this year man
@@aguy8210 who are you 😂😂
WAIT RHEY SWITCHED TO USA
AWESOME
What an incredible fencer, he’s so entertaining to watch. His strategic use of simple footwork and parries are incredibly well executed and highly effective.
That low line fake to bait their blade downwards is so clean omg
Colins foot speed is insane i must know his training program 🙏
He trains with Christian Bauer in France.
They are so young and full of energy, just imagining what they could accomplish in the future gives me the chills.
How will the Heathcocks switching countries impact the US and German teams? Discord: discord.gg/Dehg3FtyR7
Hard to believe he's only 17. A true wonder to watch.
Yes Great Fencing. No to coaching during bouts though. Let the fencers make their own decisions/mistakes. Keep your advice to the Club please. I don't understand why the referee even tolerates it because I would definitely not. Also, the international language of Fencing is French. So, it's "En garde... Prêt... Allez" It's not that hard.
Amazing how far Aron Szilagyi has come. Dude was made for greatness. Whilst not as clean in terms of style here, you can see similarities between this example here and how Aron is now.
MY SPORT...
Wow! That Hungarian dude is just one year older than me! XD
hmm... In the 50 second clip, shouldn't the attack on the left be gone?
I like the way Morrill fences! Great compilation
These are absolutely unbelievable to watch sometime. Holy smokes.
I know right. I love watching both of the fencers scream when they both stab each other within 10ths of a second. Beautiful swordsmanship 😆
I've gotten to fence both of them and jesus
they're crazy good
omg it's max 😱

hot damn pianfetti
one of them should have not been valid since they touched the ground
That is not a rule.
Unless you actually fall over, touching the ground doesn't stop the action
Their footwork going backwards is incredible. It also makes them the most annoying type of opponent cause you think you've judged the distance right then they just jump back and give themself room to parry or make you miss and punish you. Then the temptation is to compensate and start attacking closer but they're ready for that too with point attacks
Sabre Venezuelan please
Great to see this. I predict in the next 10-15 years, Japan will surpass the Koreans.
It's so hard to pull this stuff off. Incredible job by everyone competing.

There is defintiely a huge K-Sabre influence going on here.
Yeah 100%, a lot of rising countries and young fencers in general are taking influence from the Koreans.
Very different in style to classic Szilyagi. Faster tempo, more aggressive, more make miss then long attack - almost like Olga Kharlan! Fascinating video: great to see development in this awesome sabreur.
Nice video. Maxime's close quarter parade seconde riposte is a thing of sublime beauty.
Tutti i coreani eliminati?
What is going on in japan 👀
I will like, comment AND watch the video to the full length
