With regards to the dowels in the tenons: with my small furniture pieces I love running a 2 inch brad nail through the underside at an angle. If you do it right no one will ever see it and it’ll never walk out. Obviously this is on a muuuuch smaller scale but just advice for anyone who’ll bother to listen to the rambling lol

I recently got a comment on one of my builds that read, "Beautiful, but not pallet wood" LMAO. I have 290 subscribers, it was a photo montage and why would I have any reason to lie? I guess it's the millions of dollars I make on YT that is leading me down the dark path of lying about getting wood from pallets. LOL

I've never seen pallet wood even remotely close to the quality of the wood you use. Nice work bench, but calling shenanigans on the wood. That's better quality than what you would find at a hardware store in the US.

These come from a factory that make granny flats. I am pretty sure they get their windows delivered on them. Generally pallets like these are gone before they hit the street, but in this instance they were piled up on the side of a highway, so I called in a favour with a friend who has a truck haha!

  • @iplayzthegames6968

This is awesome my only advice would be that you might want to move your vice to the other end of the bench, if you're right handed (which it appears you are) you're better off having the vice on the right hand side so that your waste off cut falls off the bench rather than the piece you want to keep if you're using a bench hook for example You should invest in building a bench hook, they're very simple to make, 2 bits of wood and a scrap of ply. They're really handy for making crosscuts with a hand saw or even just something to butt timber up against while chiseling

29:32 - there was no need for doing the mortices! You could cut the plank and leave the whole while gluing the bench top! Just use the same size of pallet plank for legs, than glue some planks around... You didn't have to do all this, unless it was for You a fun challenge, but it seems here you'd rather avoid it... So Im just saying You could avoid it :D

Thank you for your words, I just realized I have depression and watching woodworking and actually doing it makes me feel brand new if there is such a feeling. It's refreshing wow i did not realize how my mood changes until now. I'm 54 , the last time i did any big project was in Highschool. I've been making wood helicopters and airplanes for my kids along with building blocks and a table top for a fish tank but that's it. Time to get my garage organized so i can slowly start building larger projects like for example This amazing table you built which i need.
