No you do not have to remove the ignition switch to change it I changed mine out without having to remove it

The Duratec engine is cheap V6 engine with obsolete Cardone in this super big computer box that does not know how to do anything with standard window roll up regulator. But for $400.05 dollars paid to the professional mechanic and electrician team inside Ford dealership and never mess with it and it return to us with rotten wiring problem in electric power windows. It has brand new battery and new driver side switches in the door. Old 1980 Cadillac power windows car is twice better electrical system than bad Taurus sick car. The hand and regulator off from the older model that must match and fit in the door for window cranking on the handle.

Ac compressor, alternator, power steering, tensioner.

The water pump is on the other side.

I have a 2004 Mercury Sable same thing as a Taurus and this saved me time, money and frustration trying to follow where the line disappeared too.

just changed one today dorman makes one short also block of wood and jack it into place made that way or would not be tight on tank when finished

I've had to do this on 3 Taurus's (96, 99, & 05) and a 2003 Sable. Right now, the Sable has finally broken far enough toward the reservoir that I will replace the whole line. The other 3 cars were totaled and therefore no longer a problem... kids walked out of all 3 wrecks which is why I keep buying these tanks.

Why is this a different looking setup than a 2004 mercury sable with a Duratec 3l.0L DOHC 24 valve engine????? And there IS NO BOLT on the tensioner pulley, there's a square HOLE, 3/8". ????

appreciated this video, however one thing I'm confused about. At about 4:10 you mention having the belt/rag around the WATER PUMP PULLEY. You use that word several times. However, on these engines, The WATER PUMP puilley is on the OTHER SIDE OF ENGINE. ?? There are only 5 pulleys TOTAL on this side of engine - Crank shaft, A/C, Power steering pump at very top, alternator, and tensioner pully. Why are you referring to Water pump pulley?? I'm very confused. By the way, this is referring to the 24 valve 3.0L DOHC engine which I assume you have here. You mention it's a 24 valve, so I'm assuming it's DOHC. The OHC version didn't have 24 valves.

Just pop off the black trim collar at the ignition lock, it snaps back on, no need to remove the lock cylinder. 2000 models will also fit the early years, only difference is the stalk is angled up about an inch, no problem.

Thank you! Apparently a squirrel decided to take a nap on my drive belt. When I started my 2001 Sable, I heard and felt a loud 'THUMP'! and then the battery light came on. I looked under the hood and the squirrel was wedged in between the front pulley and the chassis (obviously dead). Then I noticed my serpentine belt was off. Thanks to your video I was able to put my belt back on. A suggestion though - you may want to title your video 'removal AND installation' because I almost did not watch all the way through as I thought you were just showing how to remove the belt; however, thankfully you started talking about putting the belt back on and viola! anyway thanks!

My neighbors 3.0 2004 DOHC Taurus had a rough idle with code P0316. I put all new plugs and the PCV valve. About a 2 hour job and smooth idle now. PCV was under the throttle body about 5 inches back and connected to the intake with a L hose. Also cleaned the EGR, IAC

Good upload. That damn Haynes manual doesn't cover the OHC engine very well at all. It's like they didn't even look at one, much less touch one. Thanks much ! Oh, I also found it helpful to remove the throttle linkage bracket, and intake tube for greater access
