When I saw the thumbnail, I KNEW I recognized that building there by the tracks…I was just in there a few weeks ago! We called it the Spring Factory, because there’s a place on the 2nd floor where you can get out onto a section of roof, and you can see a “ghost sign” reading SPRING FACTORY…I don’t think you can see it from the street, you have to be inside. Definitely used as a storage warehouse for some time.

How large was that mill to require soo expansive a mechanical room. Those boilers must have been HUGE?!!

Can remember back in the 1960's telling my dad that when we climbed some tall trees at night could see at least halve a dozen smoke stacks belting out black smoke. He told me that when ever you see that at night some factory or plant is lucky enough to have two shifts working and that puts food on a lot of tables. Later became a maintenance select divine and worked in several boiler rooms. Always amazed me that boilers were able v to run off of natural gas or oil. In 1970'at my first company they burst thick polluting #6 bunker oil.

Convenient hole in the fence right there! Looks like Jackson has a lot of cool places. I just moved to Detroit, and all the huge abandoned buildings here are keeping my days off work full! But I'm sure I'll branch out & explore neighboring towns like Jackson eventually...if there's anything left!
