Yesterday, I joked to him that if he brought me flowers, I'd owe him a dance. I practically laughed in his face-- I thought it such an outlandish request. Tonight, he came with a bouquet of fresh red roses and white daisies. His face was a mixture of pride and sheepishness--I wondered if he'd ever brought a girl flowers. Here we are now, on the dance floor, and the smell of fresh cut flowers entwine with my perfume. When we are in the center of the dance floor, with the least amount of prying eyes, he briefly buries his face into the crook of my neck, drinking in my scent. I do the same.

fun fact about Rachmaninoff's Symphony No.2 it is still to this day his most famous piece but it's importance goes way beyond that Rachmaninoff's first Symphony was received with the harshest critics, and for a young composer who had known only success until that point, it destroyed him, and plunged him into a deep depression years later, we see see emerge back into the musical sphere with this masterpiece, the symbol of hope, confidence, and friendship, as he also dedicated it to his friend and therapist Nicholas Dahl, who helped him get through such a difficult time in his life in my opinion, Rachmaninoff's second Symphony is beautiful because it is so honest, so human, and so open. he poured his heart and soul into this, and takes us on a magical journey in the process it was the start of the rest of his life, of all that he would come to create and accomplish i fear to even imagine what would have been if he hadn't created this second symphony. thank you Rachmaninoff, you will forever be cherished

i question sometimes whether i should still long for another soul to intertwine with mine or if i should be forever cultivating love towards myself solely instead. i think the latter is of great importance, and i will strive to climb the staircase of self-love, no matter whom i'm with or without. however, that hint of longing for a lover to hold me in their safe, warm arms while i drift off to sleep at night remains. a home within my self-built home. we shall see.
