    Jermaine and Randy were handling the bass lines on the victory tour. Jermaine on actual bass and Randy on keys at time. Jermaine was also playing live in the early, 70s when he would perform with his brothers live. He used studio musicians during the recording session because Berry wanted a super smooth. Crisp sound, but Jermaine was able to not only play and sing lead but also harmonies and dance while playing To see clips of him jamming on the bass off the stage check out the Jackson Family Dynasty reality show Also check out his live performance of Bass Odyssey and Let's Get Serious on the Arsenio Hall show

    I could see where the rumors arose. It is known that he didn't play on the recordings. But even on those TV shows you could fake it. So although we saw him on the bass on Arsenio, we can't be sure he was actually playing it. Tito grew into a decent guitarist and played blues guitar at shows and many venues on the road. I saw him play at a small club here so I know he could play. With Jermaine, I just don't know.

    It’s a real shame that one brother is trying to bring down another brother so what if Jermaine is not there like Larry Graham or Marcus Miller so what the fact of the matter is he played well enough to handle his own business with his brothers . What is the point that Brother is trying to make what is he trying to say looking at him sitting there playing he can hardly play himself with his taped up bass.

    • @callmeKD112
      @callmeKD112 11 дней назад

      @@MrBassplayer1210 First off, you clearly didn’t pay attention to the video. I never said Jermaine couldn’t play. I was addressing the rumors about his skill level. Jermaine’s an inspiration to me, and I respect him as a player. Second, my bass and I? We’re doing just fine. You see one video of me doing a little snippet on my bass, (which isn’t the focus in this video) and judge my playing by it. I’m a full time musician, this is my job and career. Maybe focus on improving your comprehension instead of trying to come at me sideways. Have a good day brother.

    Its a dumb question. I, a fan of J5 since I was 8 yrs old. Was a big fan of Tito., but studied all of them including Jermaine , drummer Johnny Johnson, keyboardist , Ronnie Francis (msp). He and Tito learned from all the motown musicians thru out their time. Look at the Goin back to Indiana concert or victory tour concerts and just watch only Jermaine. The bass lines are simple according to the song , so he's able to sing along with it, splitting vocals with Micheal. Concerts I'm talking about, not tv specials were they're lip syncing. Stop the madness. Stop the madness.

      @@Nuggyc Relax bro! I made this video to address the question based on research and different perspectives I’ve come across over the years. I’ve always respected Jermaine and the Jackson 5’s legacy, and this wasn’t meant to diminish his talent in any way. Just wanted to start a conversation about his contributions and technique. I appreciate your passion for the J5, he is one of the reasons why I picked up the bass lol.

I figured you would respond back this way, or I would be right based on the title of content. So many tabloid stuff going out there. People's sometimes will put garbage out there just for attention. Again, my apologies to you. And in my own opinion about Jermaine, based on what has cone to light about all of them, he's my least favorite of them all. I give him credit as a bass player. That's it, tho. But hey, it's a part of life. He has the right to live anyway he pleases. My apologies again💯

    Steve Shockley from Lakeside told the story about when they were first signed and were about to record the first album. And even though they were a self-contained band who wrote all their songs. But Shockley didn't read music, and used the term for musicians that played but didn't read were known as (street players) back then. And so they charted everything out but since Shockley couldn't read the charts of the music that him and his band wrote, they called in Paul Jackson Jr. to play guitar on the album cause he could read the charts down. And Shockley had to sit down and let the process happen. True story according to Shockley. So I said all that to say I never thought Jermaine played everything J5 recorded
