Hard to argue with results

I just planted store bought snapdragons and watching this gives me hope😊

I have used carrot tops (lasted 3-4 days), parsley when it starts to bolt (still green), cosmos (just the leaves), raspberry, heavenly bamboo, any herb, dusty miller, I will try just about anything.

I am also in zone 6b and growing snapdragons from seeds so that video was definitely a great surprise ☺️

Great list! I think adding John F Kennedy or Honor for white roses. I really love a Floribunda called White Licorice. The blooms are smaller but just love the scent. I really love all of the Eleganza series from Kordes. I think you have to let yarrow open for a while before cutting (and maybe even sacrifice some side buds). Yes to more sedums ❤ One more perennial that i love is the fancy daisies. Short bloom period with a fall rebloom but great vase life and early. Some varieties are short

Hi, I left my snaps alone this fall, didn't even trim them down and I was shocked recently to see new growth on existing plants. I'm in zone 6b also, in northern NJ. I'm curious to know if they will do this every year. I've started some more indoors.

My milk jugs did much better compared to when I switched to cups and totes, the next year. it could be that they just do better in the milk jugs for whatever reason. I skip last year bcs I was so disappointed the year before , but I did start a bunch this year in milk jugs.

Perennial phlox, clematis and baptisia. And iris. My reblooming iris, they bllomed way past frosty weather, they are a bit pricey at first but they multiply. The smell is amazing. Zone 6A.

I think I might have an idea.. The reason you're getting weaker growth in the second year is because just like tulips and other perennial bulbs the corms will be putting extra energy into growing themselves and multiplying; dividing into new, smaller corms. By digging the corm up every year you essentially allow it to fully "rest", build a strong stockpile of cells and put all its energy into florescence instead (as opposed to leaving it with roots in to constantly grow). I reckon that if the corms settled for a few years they would eventually develop nicely and then you could separate the new forming corms and repeat the cycle. Now, my experience is admittedly limited but bulbs seem to have a strong mind of their own! We had an absolutely ancient old tulip in the yard that would always flower until one day I cut it. Just didn't flower for years again until the bulb was dug up and split.

I also use dill, mint, and oregano

I even use asparagus foliage, and some of my peony foliage

Good luck, for heavens sake, cut that bag of soil down to reach in better, make your life easier

So I am late to your video but very much enjoyed it. I love limelight millet for a filler, the Gardener's Workshop or Resilient Seeds carry the Limelight. Mahogany Splendor Hibiscus, I LOVE for late summer to fall. Rudbeckia Triloba is an amazing prolific tall spray of small golden blooms. Eryngium is super fun dried or fresh such a great texture, but a bit pokey still very with it. Bells of Ireland oh I adore them. Winged Everlasting which looks like sprays of tiny white Strawflowers. They over wintered in my 7b/8a southern Oregon garden. Thanks again for the video!

I'm new to your channel and love the structure of this video, how you narrated it during the video and explained about your hand held bouquets. I'm in my 3rd year flower farming and making the bouquets are my most stressful tasks. Beautiful work!

I think you are supposed to have at least 4" of potting soil. I would try water or milk jugs.

Love the idea of using spirea. I have also used Sweet Annie, peony and camelia foliage.

It could be ventilation issues on why you didn't get a lot of germination and more algae instead. Most people who use a hands-off approach to winter sowing with the bottles keep the lids off so that rain can get in, but excess heat and condensation can escape. With a clear plastic tote, heat and condensation are distributed throughout differently because its a larger, thicker plastic, so a bit more thought and maintenance is usually required. What you can do is water the cups and let them drain out BEFORE putting them in the tote and then to deal with excess heat on warm days, put a stick in between the container and the lid to create a gap for airflow. As I said, this will require a BIT more attention because condensation will be distributed differently throughout the tote so some cups will get watered from droplets falling from the lid, while the others are dry and you may have to water them yourself. But if you're bored and just waiting for Spring to arrive, it'll give you something to do 😁

I think you’re watering is going to be very inconsistent with small cups inside a big container like that. You won’t get precipitation in every cup that way. When you have a lid on top, vs the lid as a base, I think it would be somewhat better because of the way extra water might collect in the bottom enough to water a second cup, but I don’t think you had enough water. Also, some of them looked dry.

I think it’s the orange pots, mine didn’t do well in those.

The cups on the outside were colder. It is also early. This is my third year winter sowing but I use jugs. I did not notice condensation when you opened the lg container. Did they get too dry? When I have not had germination, I’d reuse the soil- ended up with those formate seeds germinating all over my garden. It was heaven🥰

Add cinnamon on top of the soil to combat the algae problem. 💚

Does anyone grow crimson clover as a cut flower?

The first container looked dry.

The totes was a good idea but it didn’t create a greenhouse affect. Using water/milk jugs or even water bottles create a greenhouse and helps store the heat in. Even if the seeds are cold hardy it has to be around the temperature it says on the packet on a consistent basis for them to germinate.

Small grape tomatoes green on a vine with curly cue's and catmint. I also use a small iris as filler, I think dutch idk, it grows about 20 inches

I love to use spirea too. One I was blown away by was pink splash weigela- all season long. With blooms or with varigated foliage the rest of summer. I would make bouquets using the spirea, weigela and dusty miller together. Wow I loved the contrast. I need dark foliage this next year. I'm excited to try the mahogany splendor hibiscus and elderberry foliage. Thanks for the videos.

Not getting enough water was the problem. The seeds dried out so they didn't germinate. Need holes in the containers to let the rain in. Milk jugs are best with no cap.

I am attempting this here in zone 6a on my little cutflower farm. I'm curious if the smaller plant/blooms doesnt have to do with them being exposed to cold weather but more so a lack of nutrients. Because they are extremely heavy feeders. Maybe they had all of the nutrients and energy to an energy they needed in the corm for the 1st year but but your soil was lacking what they needed for the next year...? Did you do any amending or fertilizing?

Im in australia so its spring, and while i thought it was supposed to grow like a weed, i cant get it to sprout 😅 ive tried in a pot and in a damp paper towel in a hot house. In the sun, in the shade, and tried stratifying some in the fridge and not others, but ive had no luck...

I think your spirea may be called Magic Carpet. I live in zone 3 and have shrubs that look like yours.
