They wanted an in for Iraq, and they wanted a stable region for the Belt and Road initiative. They want China to build the infrastructure for a truly global takeover. In the future a NATO battalion will be able to take a high speed train from Germany to Pakistan, Iran, Nigeria, Mongolia, Korean peninsula, where ever they want in less than 3 days.
