It would have made a significant difference to the conversation if Bernard Pucker had given context to Ms De Steiguer's works to the other participants. The fact that the woman in the images is in fact the artist herself. She is the "winter keeper" of Star Island, the largest of the Isles of Shoals islands, 9 miles out from Rye, N.H. The only winter resident on Star's 40 acres, for 5 months a year. A job she has done for over 20 years. She shows a selection of the structures on island. The late 19th c. Oceanic Hotel, the Stone Chapel, the cottages, the museum, the adjoining islands, with their houses and lighthouse. A place of great presence, and especially so when uninhabited. She gives that presence an exceptional depth that is pure poetry. Bravo to her, and to the Gallery's representation of her.

Why do they say say this plate "looks simple"? It doesn't. It's miraculous. It's uncanny, obviously the work of an exceptionally advanced and gifted master. At a glance, it is clearly the work of a profoundly talented creative force.

I know the firing process is incredibly old school and traditional which makes it a feat in and of it’s self. But the pieces are blah, boring. I know this guy is some adored potter but if I didn’t know it was his work Idd never look twice at this stuff. Honest truth. It’s his name thst sells not the ugly pottery.

Randy Johnston's work is inspired and inspiring. I'm inspired. The discussion is very gratifying, Johnston's comments about his own work and Chris Gustin's excellent commentary and observations adding a lot. It's wonderful to focus on each peace for enough time to really absorb them. This ultimately and again shows an artist's conversation is first with himself, the process ( the making, the clay, the firing) and ends in giving, sharing, even if only in photos

I would have loved to hear what he had to say in the last segment, about 10 minutes until the end. So I tried the automated subtitles. I doubt he really said "look at this gun!", when done with the black vase... but a small part of me is like " yeah, that is exactly what he said". Thanks for this fantastic video (and this great nemory).
