When I was a frac, the customer more or less always wanted more brand awareness and ultimately leads. I always tried to first nail down four things: - what your solution does - what pain it solves - who has that pain - who else can address this pain - how you are different and better than the others who can solve the pain From there the next step is to build a position. From there you can build a message. From there you are in a position to build your digital marketing (tech stack, content, campaigns, web, social etc). Skip / short the upfront fundamentals at your peril. Of course there is more to it, but I always found that construct to help get to an actionable plan asap. If you don't have PMF (for example), this process will out it pretty quickly. Now, some CEOs get that, and some don't 😊.
