      @leighwalker19 I believe I had the gas tank off and used a long wobbler extension with a wobbler socket, but it still was really hard to get bolt removed. So when I fixed the leak behind the cover, I decided to modify the cover to make it easier to remove/install.

    • @just4fans303
      @just4fans303 5 месяцев назад

      I'm far from being an expert mechanic I could be wrong. But previous owner retrofitted the air filters under the gas tank which was starving the bike from getting proper air flow. If a motorcycle is running lean on air it will cause it to run hotter and I think that was causing it to run poorly.

      Awesome! Congratulations on your bike, you will not be disappointed. Make sure and keep rpms under 9000 for first 1000 miles for safe engine break-in. I know it will be hard not to but I highly recommend doing that. Glad the video was helpful by the way Yamaha recommends checking chain tension before every ride.

    • @scottlaverty6273
      @scottlaverty6273 6 месяцев назад

      @@just4fans303 Thank you, I am definitely not disappointed it is such a good bike to ride. It has been hard to keep the RPM down but at the same time it has plenty of Torque you don't need anything over 5300RPM and still you are going pretty fast xD. I cannot wait till im out of the break in period though. I did my chain today cleaned it re-lubed and tightened the tension... it got a bit late so I'll check in the morning to see if its at the proper spec. but I believe I am at about 50mm of slack. and it says to go between 45mm and 50mm in the manual so pretty sure its all g. One thing I did do was check the tyre pressure and it was at 25PSI in front and 35 in the back (Supposed to be 36FRONT & 42BACK) ive only had it a week.. so not sure if that is normal for new tyres or bike tyres to go down that much in only 500kms (300 Miles). What is your experience with Tyre Pressures? (sorry for any "silly" questions I have not owned/ridden a bike in like 6 years)

    • @just4fans303
      @just4fans303 6 месяцев назад

      @scottlaverty6273 be careful I picked up something in my rear tire and was losing 10psi overnight it's a real small puncture but enough to cause it to lose proper pressure. I am not going to ride until I get it replaced too much torque and speed to take any chances having a blow out or damaging my rim. I found an acceptable tire on Amazon for around $100 going to remove the rim and tire and take it to a local cycle gear to get it put on. I'll do a video on it. Get a squirt bottle and fill with soapy water use liquid dawn it works well. Air up tires to proper level and spray all over the tires and look for bubbles 🫧 if you see bubbles you have a puncture and need to replace tire. I don't recommend getting it patched you only have two wheels and one life.

      Congratulations!!! You will not regret it! Try and stay below 9000 rpm until you hit 1000 miles for a safe break-in. I am planning on doing some more videos soon. I have 3000 miles on my XSR now, and I'm already developing a flat spot down the middle of my tire, so I ordered a rear tire and will be replacing it soon.

      Your welcome Tony. That is why I started doing these videos to help others with saving money on DIY repairs. I'm focusing now mainly on my new Yamaha XSR 900 but I'm glad I could help. I did a really thorough video on how to replace the btry in street 500 which is a real pain in the ass but I show you step by step how to do it and the btrys sold from O'Reilly auto parts work great. Much cheaper then paying Harley to install and much cheaper btry.

Need 10-15 mins or riding to bring oil temp up if you want it thin. Also, balance the bike upright with 1 hand on pillion seat then position your paddock stand so not struggling agains bikes weight.

    • @just4fans303
      @just4fans303 8 месяцев назад

      Make sure that the brake pad is facing the rotor and the metal backing on pad is facing out. Use some brake cleaner on brake pads and rotor. Could also be something wrong with your caliper, and it's not releasing the pressure on the pads against the rotor fully when the brake lever is not applied. If you can't resolve the issue, take it to a bike repair shop and get it looked at. Do not ride it like that!
