Dr. Joyce Banda who Forbes named one of the most powerful woman has served as Malawi's Minister of Women and Children, Foreign Minister, Vice President and President. She founded Joyce Banda Foundation in 1997 providing women, youth and children with education and better nutrition, economic empowerment and modern housing. Her organisation has reached out to 1.3million Malawians. She is the author of the book "From Day One" on the African girl child.
