Great job - I'd take it one more step and maybe vent it thru the door with a max-air fan so you could keep the doors closed...insulation comes into play too, right? Much respect sir!
I love the fact that you have a full restroom. That's nice!
Ford Transit 250
I have seen people vent through the door. Stealth mode.
After finding this video I came across a similar video where a guy put a fantastic vent to provide ventilation for the rear part of the ac and doors were close
Nice video. Well done. Very simple and concise.
You look like Carmen Graziano former fight manager out of Philly and south Jersey. He had Mike Rossman, among others.
That's really nice. Now they make a 6000 btu unit that is 28.5 seer. I'd say that 9000 has no problem keeping the van perfect temp
Tanks Pauly 😂
Hi . im late to your channel. do you have to be on flat ground when operating the AC because i'm thinking the water produced by the indoor unit when on cooling mode will overflow. am i correct? thanks
He's a genius best van bill ever I hope they travel the world and the country many times as they can great setup
560 ah, but what voltage?
Yea! No wet bath 👏😁👍
Awesome, truly amazing build!
Paul do you have a website?
Awesome build! 👏
Paul, check this out ruclips.net/video/67OIddbJlVc/видео.html
Do you have a website? Beautiful builds.
That van is beautiful
Can you provide a link to this unit please
Absolutely gorgeous!
What happens if it rains with the fan on the ceiling?
Excellent! Thank you!
ruclips.net/video/4RT_enE6S5k/видео.html I like this installation
Did you consider to put it below the van? Is it possible to mount horizontal?
Have you thought about venting the door wit a maxxair fan?
Great Video. Inspiring me to get rid of the tornado sound effects box on the roof ac -- which incidentally removing the diffuser grille on blower helped reduce noise. Really would be sweet to be able to mount under van, but I realize form factor of your mini-split does not accommodate and of course more issues with keeping clean... I am sure the larger fan and blower are so much quieter than the traditional roof mount. Did not think about gas mileage penalty for roof unit. With gas prices going up, might help pay for alternate solution.
How do you power the minisplit?
I seen some one add a fan for their mini spilt for their van. It’s similar to this van’s set up so instead of keeping door open, they keep the fan open
Great RV.
Cool van! im just starting out.. wish me luck🙏🏼✨
Nice van
Love a lot of your ideas and how you incorporated the bath and mini-split. Did you build it yourself? Did you think consider the elevator beds? This design doesn't seem to allow for much storage e.g. e-bikes.
Beautiful van, well thought out. 👍🏾
Great vid and hard work and nice van EXCEPT ANNOYINGLY UNNECESSARY MUSIC
I have three questions: 1) Is there a second alternator for the DC/DC charger? 2) What is the name of the projector screen? 3) Have you considered working with 80/20?
Hi nice job done did you add another battery to it?
Paul do you have in pics or videos of your newest build? Also what bed frame do you use? I like the ability to raise when watching tv. Thanks love your builds.
Wow...that is a great bathroom! Is this van for rent?
Sorry, we don’t remember, We build to sell only fornow
We don’t rent for now,
So impressive! Are you doing conversions for us mere mortals?
I find that the background music gets distracting. I wouldn’t miss it at all I it were turned off.
I agree,
I like the idea of where you have the "outside" unit 👍🏻
I've been interested in the concept of a mini split like you have here. I've never worked with one before and haven't reached out to my HVAC people for advice yet, but since you have your second piece installed in the back in an enclosed space I figured I'd ask you - how does that work? I was thinking it had to be on the outside of the van
No problem in keeping it warm or cool. It’s oversized so it usually running at 500watts average. I’ve never used it below 35 or higher than 95 degrees. My quess is it may lose a little bit of efficiency when it’s 0 degrees outside but still keep van warm
@@paullehto1823 awesome! thanks for responding and for the info. do you have any suggestions for a first-timer going with a similar mini-split set-up, like anything you would do differently?
I sold this van, I’m building a new one, I want one that’s shorter and AWD and still get just about the same useable space. I’m placing mini outside rear doors along with storage box. It will be done in few weeks
@@paullehto1823 I ran into a vanster that had theirs mounted on the outside rear doors! I'm happy to see that's what you're going to do in the new build. I'm still debating what to include in my power setup so I'm not sure if I'm making the decision on a mini-split yet, but I really appreciate the info, it's going to help me when I'm ready to decide!
Minisplits LOSE ALOT of efficiency when it's that cold out-- Minisplits are essentially electric heater when it gets below 20 (vs being a heat pump)-- their sweet spot for heating is 45 to 55 F (they are very efficient in this outside temp) -- we have one for our house and while it will still heat in the 30s outside, we won't run it for heat when it is below 40F -- they are great for cooling.... we installed ours to supplement cooling in the summer (upstairs) and our electri bill dropped by about 30% in the summer (vs running our central air only).... in answer to @NA NA-- they would have to have th doors open (at least partially) to heat or cool the van.
Wow, cool ideas!
Thanks, I’ve spent my whole life designing homes that I hope people are happy with. Camper vans are a new challenge. Small makes then more mobile, but we have our needs that require space. That’s the challenge I plan on taking. My new shorter van will have almost the same comfort as this van but 30” shorter with AWD.
@@paullehto1823 Why does everyone end up going shorter?
Rv’s are expensive, if you have shorter van you can use it has your daily runner. You still can’t use most drive thurs. when traveling, I want a comfortable bed, Airconditioning, and full bath like a hotel. Small kitchen is a plus that you don’t get in most hotel rooms.
Amazing Dude, awesome van design! Best built I have seen. His experience and craftsmanship is very, very impressive !!! Can’t wait to see your new built.
Thanks, new one starts in couple weeks
paul you have to open 1 rear door to turn it on. why dont u come up with a solution for it. so u can on the a/c while driving.
The van comes with two a/c and heat units that work while you drive. No problem in leaving door open when parked. There is a solid insulated wall that’s waterproof behind a/c
Another mini split hp install that will be difficult to repair and clean.
Minisplits are design to last 20 years of continuous use in a home. They are 2to 3 times more energy efficient. They can heat down to -15f. Most rv heat pumps good only to +30f. The heat pump I used cost $700. I will not install in my van build other than my own. I want to be sure if they can handle the bumps over at least 5 year period
Look up rv show Japan. They showed top ten class b rv’s built in Japan. All the ones that had a/c were mini splits. They been using them for years with no problem. Same units we use for homes.
It's beautiful! I would love a van similar ( well, exactly like lol) yours. Best wishes and safe travels to you and your wife. I have watched hundreds and hundreds of van videos and your van is by far the very best one I have ever seen.
I saw the tour on New Jersey Adventures and came looking for you. Best van conversion I have seen and no solar! Functional and saw beautiful. I will be looking forward to your next build.
Paul, great build and appreciate your sharing this information. I am looking to install a minsplit a/c system in my 2021 Transit 350. I have had roof top systems that were loud and inefficient. .I don't want to put the system underneath, nor do I want to leave the back cargo doors open while it is running.. Does anyone have thoughts/experience installing the system inside and sliding the condenser out either the side of the van or back door via a baggage compartment door? Thank you.
Minisplits need a lot of air all around unit to work, sides, back, front. Rec pro sells a nice low profile roof heat pump I’ve used. Not as good as minisplit. will heat down to to 30f. My next build I’m going with shorter transit and will install minisplit outside rear doors. Flex lines so I can swing out to open rear doors
Some people put vents or a fan on the door
