No shorts and glad you tested the motor as is to ensure that nothing has been done by you mechanically that has impacted the motor and that always should be undertaken before you even clean the motor from the outside as well.

The inside was incredibly clean compared to any other part. Its amazing the grease in the bearing held up despite the dirt contamination!

Electric cars have 1000hp motors the size of a gallon of milk. Why so big, is there some other metric besides hp? Torque?

No need for VPI grease .. you can use a knife blade or a wire air-brush and tap the endbell holes while the stator is still warm and varnish is still hot and soft

Nice job Guys, I am on HVAC-R business and dealing with motors all the time , only thing I didn't see is evacuation for feeding varnish material and get rid of the air bubbles , and baking procedure. are those common practice for all motors or there are specific motors needs such procedure? Are these procedures for high HP motors or for smaller motors such as 15-30HP shall be applied ?

Nice walk through, thank you. Be advised, dampening is the present participle of dampen. When you dampen something, its the verbening form of "damp", aka moist. Damping is when you suppress oscillation or vibration. Damped is the past tense. HTH.
