Love to find that
@@jcliffe8146 it was definitely awesome.
Y Cyclones were 390 ci
@michaelfoss515 In 1964 Cyclones were 289, except for the race versions that were 427, and they did not make very many of them.
I watched this whole thing and there's no price
Did you sell it ? Whats your asking price?
Old school snow tires on the rear
what a beauty and look how easy that water pump is!
@@willie714 lot nicer to work on compared to newer vehicles, that is for sure.
What a wonderful find !! I hope I can get lucky like this.
@@stevejones7593 it was a great find for sure.
Very nice find on a scarce car! When I met my wife, in 1974, I had a '63 Nova SS convertible. My wife used to pick at me because her Ford would outrun my Chevy - the Nova had a 194 6 cyl and a PG auto - she had a 1965 Fairlane 500 Sports coupe. Virtually the same car as the Cyclone. 289, 4V, 4-gear. Power steering, power brakes, buckets and a console. The car did not come with a radio from the factory. Had a plate on the dashboard, instead. Had a Pioneer under dash AM/FM/8-track Supertuner. Remember wedge speakers that rode on the package tray? No cigar lighter, either. Had a chrome plug where the lighter would have been. Neat little car. Surprisingly comfortable and nimble. Scooted right along, as well. BUT, the top went down on my Nova. Wish they both were still here...who knew?
How much for the little mercury?
Old thing iv bothered to buy at a garage sale is a BJ
Tacky...tsk, tsk.
Sweet car !!!
@godsglobetrotter1738 not many one family cars left.
I had one of these, but it was not the Cyclone. It was a V8 automatic but the engine was just a 221 ci. It had a Tenna 8 track tape player and a reverb unit that put an echo into the music. I painted it yellow and remember that it was 100% trouble free and it was so smooth and quiet you couldn't tell if it was running or not. Wish I had it now.
400 miles? No way it should look that bad unless they raced it. I see an after market tach on the dash.
@rickolson3114 It has 141,000 miles on it. It had 400 miles on it when the gentleman bought it. That is a factory Cyclone tach.
@@palmersperformance7117 Gotta love the Rotunda goodies. My wife's Fairlane 500 Sports Coupe had the same tach, badged Ford.
Nice car
@@roberthirshfield3571 thank you.
NICE!!
For 400 miles on the clock,the seats are really beaten up🤔🤔🇬🇧🇬🇧
@@davidrix804 It had 400 miles on it when the guy I got it from bought it. Now has 141,000.
Starting that engine dry! after how long? That was dumb.
Give the guy a break. I am sure, given his background, he checked it over off camera.
Dream car. What a find. Congrats.
Just surface rust, no problem.
@@paulvincent3825 one hole in bottom of left rear quarter

This is a great find. You have a high value car in the two door hardtop. This is one you can take it to the car shows.
Nice looking car. That's the kinda car when you find it, it's time to get in drunk and naked. That's great find.
Great car. Easy to work on
@@LouisCapps-p3z Back when they made them simple for sure.
Too bad they had grand ma driving it, you've got brakes drive it!
400 miles? the pedals and floor say more like 100400. still a cool car though.
@rodeleon2875 it had 400 miles on it when th gentleman bought it, it now has 141,000
Im sure their not, but those tires....... Put a set of BFG's on there. Set that car off. Did you ever say how many miles were on car? Nice car.
@@riverdog8796 141,000
Are you selling the 64 Comet? Our Dad bought one, really for my brother and i, shortly afterwards he died. Shortly after he died someone yanked a left across my lane an I hit him head on. Would love to have another!
Nice car, always liked the cyclone, I'm surprised being a V8, 4 bbl, 4 speed car, it doesn't have dual exhaust,,,
@@rickallen8158 me too, but I guess that was common.
The Cyclone only was available with a 210hp 289, single exhaust, no factory dual exhaust was available in 1964 comets. I have owned my ‘64 Cyclone for 56 years, I know these cars.
@theschmitthaus6208 thank you for the information.
I love that car
@gman9035 What is your favorite things about it?
@@palmersperformance7117Clean, straight original. Really like the 289 4speed with bucket seats.
Best thing is that 1964 was the first year for the Cyclone. Mercury did some high speed track runs and set a whole bunch of speed records with the 64 Comets. Beautiful Cyclone.
Mercury was the class of the ford family!
Lucky a $#%& hole ! That will scream on pavement !
Waw! Beautiful car.
@@hasbeengood thank you.
@@palmersperformance7117 Are you selling the car?
Huh a mid-60s Ford product with a ignition key on the right.
Funny how you say its a solid car and it actually is a solid car. I've watched videos where guys say that and the cars are ready to fall to rusty pieces. Your car was a great find. Thanks for the video. I really enjoyed it.
@briankeenan4901 thank you for watching.
Thats probably the drive wheel where the rust is. It was kicking up mud and rocks for 50 years on that panel.
Fact is the right rear is the foward drive wheel unless it has the positraction rear end. The reason is more sand and salt from the road is what rusted out the lower quarter panel.
Oddly Gorgeous. Thanks for sharing.
@briankeenan4901 thank you for watching.
Love the old ford hardtops...had a 63 Futura when i was young...289 and 4 speed...check the bellhousing to see if its a 5 bolt or 6 bolt block !
@romemancer7905 it's a 5 bolt
1964 221,260 and 289 all had 5 bolt bell housings, the 6 bolt did not come out until 1965 or 66 depending on the model.
Someone transplanted it. Your Futura would have had a 260 cid 2 barrel engine from Ford.
I had a friend that had one and it was a very quick car
@@davidwiner8571 I can see why they left an impression on so many people, especially when new.
Please tell me you put some sort of lube in the bores before you started it,,,,
No restore,,just clean up what needs cleaning ,,fix what needs fixing ,A clear coat to protect the paint,,job done,,
That car is in AMAZING condition! Subbed. How many miles on that car?
@@MikeyMack303 it is definitely a dream find.
Solid body
Those hubcaps 2000.00
@@AndyFigueroa-vb6iu $ ?
Those are standard Cyclone wheels, not caps!
@charlesslack8090 they are wheel covers made to look like chrome wheels.
@@palmersperformance7117 Those sure looked an awfull like the painted and slotted 13in steel wheels that were on my 64 Falcon Sprint V8, 260ci, 2v, 2speed auto. After zooming into that left front wheel @ 3:41 , I noticed on the left side there appears to be a wheel weight behind the cap. Also if this was not a cap, you would be able to see the normally exposed bering cap. I learned something today, thanks! The similarities between the 64 and 65 Falcons and Comets are uncanny. Looking past the mechanical stuff, the door skins appear to be identical. Your steering wheel is woodgrain like the Sprint. The console tray looks like the Sprint, but the console lid is a bit different. Nice, nice car! Nice video! ENJOY
I’m 75 years old. Basically I love those snow tires . Many years ago when I was doing 1/4 bracket racing, just for giggles I put snow tires on my 65 chevelle to go bracket racing. That car wouldn’t spin the tires in ice . Anyway I a lot of comments about that. I claimed that it took 2 tenths off my 24.20 et passes. Thanks
Leave it alone more 💰
Dats official dats a gem hold on to it do not restore
@@AndyFigueroa-vb6iu I agree
Way cool.
@123rusty4 Yes, thank you
T10 or a top loader? Love it!
@Rattlecanjeff not a top loader, I believe T10.
I love it
Congrats. The only good thing I ever found at a garage sale was a circular saw and a row boat that had a leak.
That’s my kind of good fortune, too!
Sweet little car. Great driver. Congrats!
