Al fin un anal que habla de palos!!! siembre me sentí comodo con los 5A pero siempre sentí que me quedaba "livianos" 5B son hermosos pero pesados...hasta que descubrí pos Promark Phil Collins! hermosos palos de feel intermedio,pero demasiado cortos, y propensos a pifies cio estas muy acostumbrado al largo de los 5A Hace 2 años descubrí Wincent y cio analicé que el diámetro es igual a los PC paro con el largo de los 5A o 5B fue glorioso !!! Amo los Promark Jazz café & Boleros para jazz, pero para cualquier otro estilos estos son los palos ideales para mí. Mi ranking de preferencia: - Wincent 55F - promark Jazz cafe - VF Bolero - Promark 5A (all purpose)

I stopped using wood sticks for about 6 years and now i'm trying the new taste with Ahead. Currently thinking about getting a new pair with long taper such as Lars Ulrich sig or Rick Allen sig models. I don't know but even with the short taper model (by Ahead) like i'm using (the TC and WOS), it is the same taper length with the extra long taper like this one?

I use Wincent 5A’s and I think they are the best sticks I’ve used for many different well known brands. I think they are the best!

Medium weight, super precise tip. Im always amazed how they change the sound of cymbals and toms. The hits are way more precised. Super strong also. I played rock, blues, funk and metal with it. I will never change (although i buy other brands once a while to test the sound).

You are doing great work especially on an iPhone. The KC model was fantastic for me . I found the AJ 3 or even too just not enough grunt . The laquer is fantastic. I had to review my technique be looser & stronger BUT Definitely I would drop the sticks more . Got it ! Yes rebound but not a AJ . Keith said he had it back & forth to the factory to get the taper - weight balance.

Excellent review. I’m going crazy with sticks at the moment . I’m a 5 a guy but doing small venues I got the AJ 2 & 3 not being a 5 B ( er ) . They sound okay on the drumset but lack depth . I actually find them horrible on for my pad work . Of course you’re reviewing the biggest the AJ 1 . I have 2 friends . Aj 1 the other 6 . No like friggen pencils . Thanks . Maybe we have too many choices today . I’ll Chk out your series . Btw I like the Buddy Rich stick but if it was a tiny tiny bit smaller. I actually like the paint too as I have dry hands . Thanks .

Hello friend, I wanted to know that if it's not too much trouble, what does it take to be a vicfirth artist and, if possible, to be an international artist of the vicfirth signarure brand?

easily the best 8a stick available today. The only thing available that's close to the feel of the Regal Tip 8a or the old Regal Tip Carlock model. I love the lacquer grip of this stick...for those of us with naturally dryer hands this is a godsend.

I played Vic Firth 2B’s forever but switched to Promark 7A Activegrip Rebound this last year or so. One extreme to the next but I ended up absolutely loving the 7A’s! I have big hands and wasn’t sure how I would like them but I actually have a bunch more control. Gotta try the Simon Phillips model though. Good vid man. Thanks for the info.

Se subestima a las baquetas gruesas porque se piensa que se debe ser contundente o usarlas en un contexto cañero. No. Permite que con poco esfuerzo le saques buen volumen a tambores y platos sin pegar fuerte, solo aprovechando el peso del palo.

Tony Williams usaba baquetas 2B.

Hay baquetas incluso más cortas que las de Jo Jo Mayer. Las que usa Roy Haynes de 15" y poco más. O las que usa Bob Moses, que se las hace el mismo, sin punta, muy rústicas, de alrededor de 14".

Bolero viene del toque permanente en el redoblante como el Bolero de Ravel.

Esas baquetas son las que usa Brian Blade.

Tony Williams usaba esa medida de baqueta y tocaba Jazz.

Yo uso siempre, lo opuesto, 7A, pero ahora necesito unas de esa medida porque toco el bombo con la baqueta y necesito mas peso. Esas baquetas permiten tocar con menos contundencia y sin embargo obtener buen volumen. No quiere decir que si usas esa medida debas tocar fuerte porque las baquetas ya te dan el peso en el toque con la misma digitacion. Mi única duda es la longitud porque no me gustan que sean muy largas.

Vater have more moisture content and are more dense than Vic Firth. I used to use VF but broke them all the time. Vater are generally heavier because of this. I think you just happened to have a heavier pair of BR and lighter pair of Westside. That's the thing that sometimes is a pain in the A##.. wood can vary so much from pair to pair. The Ahead hybrid 5a/B concert reminds me of BR stick.

Love these sticks...great feeling, attack,balance, durability and used by thr professor Neil Peart...!!!!.since I got them 2 years ago I would never use other sticks ( brand or model...)

Just tried these drumsticks and they are great. Vic Firth also offers a lacquered version of the Steve Gadd drumsticks if you don't care for the black paint. Super comfortable sticks and highly recommended for any genre of music. Thank you for the review!

i use this stick since my college days until now, but its so hard to find it nowadays, thats why im using Vic firth AJ4 or 85A american classic

I switched to these when i felt like 5As werent big enough anymore so these definitely arent like 5As. The taper feels fast and the tip is nice on the ride cymbal but they are still plenty big and heavy to play hard rock or metal. Mind this Buddy Rich was a big band drummer and big bands are looouuud.

ByA great review. Vater sticks are great. I love the little bit extra length on the Manhattans 7a sticks. I needed a new stick to replace the Promark 747 sticks. Getting older and those sticks are a bit top heavy . These sticks have replaced them.
