HET AMSTERDAMSE WINTERPARADIJS | First vlog!
I started to watch this video and thought...."hmmm, this girl is doing many of the best/right things to do" and said to myself, "the Honest Guide would be happy to see this", but then you mentioned that they inspired you with their content, so congrats on your very wise choice to watch their channel. Hope you enjoyed the city, but next time you visit, there is a lovely walk that takes you up to Prague castle, starting close to Malostraska metro station. Not many tourists know it ;). Nice video :)
We live in London so we did Eurostar direct, super easy. Spent a week there late August, in an Airbnb, the top floor of an old Government embassy building converted into apartments. It had gargoyles coming out of the architecture, we were overlooking the lovely mix of trees and the enormous cemetery, the cemetery was rather beautiful to be in. We did all those things you did and, like you we thought it was a very easy city. A relaxing time. We walked a lot, best way to enjoy a city. We missed some good restaurants because we also failed to book time slots. But we found others that were perfectly ok. Shopping was good, we ate too many delicious pastries. We liked the book shops too. I purchased some new hiking shoes. It was a memorable and pleasant place . Quite different to other French cities we’ve been too. We hope to see Amsterdam by train and go back to Berlin again. Glad you enjoyed your stay. Thank you for sharing.
Really nice
Welcome in the Czech republic and Prague.
Vyšehrad Cemetery is resting place of many important and famous Czechs, writers like Čapek brothers, Božena Němcová or Jan Neruda; artists like Mucha and Myslbek; composers like Dvořák, Smetana or Fibich; scientists like Purkyně or Heyrovský; sportsmen like Bican and other persons of arts, science and politics... Many of the monuments are beatiful pieces of art.
Hey, you travelled in which month?
Hi a lovely video from my hometown, though you've seen about 5% only.. Prague has been awarded with the title "the most gorgeous city on Earth" in 2021 and that for a good reason.. If you'd be planing to come back one day, let me know, I can show you the true gems... Free of charge ofcourse
Lovely Dutch girl and great simple video.
Hey wat leuk!! We come from Arnhem and we're going to Lille this friday. So thanks for the compliment ^.^ and the lovely video you've made. I've always had a feeling Lille would be great. This video makes me even more exited!
Is Arnhem is close to Lille?
No 😅.. it's in The Netherlands!@@katarzynamariamuszynska2811
Hi.I was planning to stay in Arnhem to be close to the Veluwe. Can you ré ommend à good place to stay at less than 100 euros per night? Enjoy Lille!

Really good approach to traveling. You actually give a lot of valuable advice. Nice vlog ;)
Thank you!
What are your favorite things to do in Prague? Let me know in the comments! 😃
Hi, I've been living in Prague for 17 years and still haven't discovered all the hidden gems of this city. I think it's impossible. Perhaps only the Karlín district has so much to offer. You happened to be at the building where I work 8:40. A short distance from there is good place where many people go for lunch. It's very busy there, but after one in the afternoon you can already sit there. They have excellent Czech and even foreign cuisine. A meal costs around 8 to 9 EUR. It's called Jídlovice. If you cross a busy road there is the Lokál Hamburk restaurant. A classic Czech pub. There is a park wita church. And if you continue down the street, you'll find a salad bar, Green Factory. And then there is a good place like: Můj Jogurt Karlín, GROUNDS S16, Loft Cafe Karlín, Můj šálek kávy, Eska Karlín, PROTI PROUDU, Peter's Burger Pub. If you cross the river, on the bridge called HOLKA, that's the white footbridge, you danced by it, you will go to Holešovice, another district of the city. By the way, HOLKA is a compound of the words HOLEšovice and KArlín, so the names of the districts it connects and otherwise the word means girl. There you can then go to places like: VNITROBLOCK, Kolkovna Argentinská, Letná Lookout Beer Garden, ... Then you have another district, Hradčany, and this way we could probably go around the whole of Prague. Even if you go to the very end of Prague, somewhere on the southern edge, you will still find nice places there, such as CAFÉ CHARMÉ in old Kunratice fortress and behind it is a nice small park. You can wander around Prague for hours. The center of Prague is best in the summer at 5 in the morning, the sunrise on the Charles Bridge is beautiful.
I love Lille, it's only just over an hour by Eurostar train from London (once I get to Kings Cross which takes about 2 hours from my home). The zoo closes for the cold weather (most of autumn and wall winter) and this May, quite a bit of it was closed off as they renovate it after their 2 hippos have been moved away. The citadel is a working military site, so getting onto one of the very limited tours is difficult. I stayed in an aparthotel and as a single traveller it was great because I could do my own meals when I wanted, cheaper than eating in a restauraunt. As a repeat customer of the accommodation I was offered an unbelievable deal of around 70 Euros per night, so I booked 8 nights, which was cheaper than many of the "budget" hotels.... my finances are limited but this offer made it an easy choice to stay there again, and I'm hoping I can return in 2025. The public transport system is good and cheap, nearby towns of Roubaix and Tourcoing are within the travel area and are worth going to, if you have time and can tear yourself away from Lille itself.
Preparing my daytrip to Lille, thanks for your vlog and recommendations!
@@ConstantinEries happy to hear it was useful! Enjoy your time in Lille :)
I just recently went to Lille and I loved it, I wanna go back! I didn't finish seeing all of what the Beaux Arts museum has and I wanna go see the Institut Pasteur Museum. Also another recommended place to visit in Lille - the belfry of the city hall. It's soaring high and you can go up there to see views of the city. 🙂
@@daryldeal thanks for the tip :)
Lovely city, one of my favorites in Belgium! Looks like you were lucky with the weather too.

Lille is a very lovely city! What's the name of the restaurant you had dinner in pls ?
@@ebtehal151 it’s called ”Le 28” :) their upstairs is very nice!
Thanks for the useful info! I'm visiting Lille in a few weeks so trying to get as much info as possible. Looking forward to it!
@@ChrisWilliams1962 enjoy the city!
Very nice. I've driven past Lille from the Netherlands to France. Never stopped there. Looks like it's worth a visit!
It really is!😍
When crossing Flanders just remember that Lille is "Rijsel" in Flemish/Dutch 😉😉. Lille actually is/was a Flemish city but it has been French since 1667.
What a lovely day and place. I didn't know that there was a castle and a museum there. Very nice!
I was surprised as well, especially about the museum! Can highly recommend visiting😊
In fact, spring is the driest season. It used to be when warnings for 'bos heide en duinbranden' were given remember de drie o's: onwetendheid, onachtzaamheid, onverschilligheid, because Voorkomen is beter dan Blussen

Hi,nice video
We love all the places you and Janica visit. Learning so much of the Netherlands. Keep it up
Thanks! Happy to hear😊
How r u?. that's top edition,=))
Great video!! Loved all these places 😍
Glad you enjoyed!❤
Have you ever been to Leidens Ontzet?❤
3:12 Did a quick lookup for you. I live in Utrecht, with public transport it would take me 44 mintes with the bus and a 3 minute walk counted from Utrecht Central. If people would take the train to Gouda, they have a busride of 12 minutes and a 3 minute walk (which is actually the same bus you take if you start from Utrecht which is busline 107)
Sweet! Thanks a lot for your efforts :)
No, your museumcard won't work for a zoo, but: if you scan the internet, there is always some kind of rebate action going on for almost all of them, including Burgers... Right now, for instance, you can save up for a rebate while doing your groceries at either a Plus or a Jumbo supermarket! Burgers is really one of the best zoos we have in the Netherlands. It's location in the hills on the north side of Arnhem makes it unique ( but I am not sure I like their paths system... some parts of the zoo can only be reached by one path for instance, and you have to walk back the same way). Literally next to Burgers Zoo is the Openluchtmuseum, the open air museum. I do hope you will be visiting that one soon too. It is a collection of historic buildings that for one reason or another, could not be kept at their original place in the country so they were rebuilt in Arnhem.
Super great tips😊 Thanks a lot for sharing and commenting, I appreciate it!!
What a beautiful video!! And kiitos for the little shoutout, haha 😘💗
😘❤️
This time a bit shorter video but I hope you enjoyed it💞 Let me know in the comments if you have ever visited this or any other tulip farms in the Netherlands🥰
Been to all of them :) 5 more I would recommend are: 1) Teyler's museum in Haarlem. 2) Rijksmuseum in Amsterdam 3) Museum van de 20e eeuw in Hoorn 4) Spoorwegmuseum in Utrecht 5) Openluchtmuseum in Arnhem
Really great list, thanks! 1,2 and 3 havent been so will definitely add them to my list :)
Thanks for watching the video❤ Let me know in the comments if you have ever been to any of these places! If not, this is your time to go and check them out😉✅
Haastrecht is a town and not a village.
Thanks for flagging this! My bad, will update it😉
Niet nodig om te updaten. Met 4.000 inwoners kan je dat toch geen stad meer noemen omdat ze ooit stadsrechten hebben gekregen. Het is een gehucht😅
hoii leuke video groetjes uit nl
You should visite the openluchtmuseum in Arnhem if you are in to historic buildings. There you will find all sort of old dutch houses brought togheter.
Aahhh cool!! I saw it briefly when went to the zoo a few weeks ago. Will add it to my list to visit this summer :)
Museumkaart is great! I wish you many more great finds like this
The card is super handy! Do you also have one for yourself?:) Thanks😍🤗
@@Taru_FinnDutch absolutely! We have one for years now, and go on average once a month. I am still discovering new museums every year. Havn’t been in the one you showed. Some of the high lights are; open air museum in Arnhem, Zuiderzeemuseum in Enkhuizen, Schokland museum in Flevoland, Limburgs museum in Venlo, Archeon in Alphen aan de Rijn, Continium in Kerkrade, Spoorwegmuseum in Utrecht. There are so many great places to go!
@@Nitzpitz Ah nice to hear😍 This place is a bit on the farmside so would recommend combining with a trip to Gouda for example. In the summer the area has lots of nature so also nice :)
Never had the chance to visit Het Loo while I was living in The Netherlands. Must put it on the itinary for our next visit to Holland 🙂.
You definitely should! The palace is stunning😍
It looks like Paulina was a bit of a collector, there's a lot of bits and pieces there. Thanks for the video, interesting place. 🙂👍
Yes, indeed😅 She lived in the house with her husband, who passed away at young age. So she decided to stay living in the house alone and she never had kids, so she wanted to give the house&the collection away as museum after her death. Glad to hear you liked the video :)
