From the summit, this video takes you into the Great Sand Dunes on Medano Pass. There are a couple of steep rocky climbs to get to the summit not shown in the video. We witnessed a new Ford Escape flipped over on its roof here. There are nine water crossings and a mud hole that could get deep with lots of rain. Need good tires or deflate for the soft sand. The trail is rated moderate.

Montezuma Basin 4x4 Road follows Castle Creek after splitting from Pearl Pass and takes you up to the Montezuma Mine and the Castle (14,274') and Conundrum (14,037') Peak trailhead just below 13,000ft. It is rated as a difficult 4x4 road.
