A titrometer measures the volume of titrant reacting stoichiometrically with a titrated to determine the analyte concentration in a test sample. A point of equivalence corresponds to the volume of titrant that is consumed during this stoichiometric reaction. The Dakin Reaction allows the preparation of phenols from aryl aldehydes or aryl ketones via oxidation with hydrogen peroxide in the presence of base.
