I haven't. I did add traction tape (the kind we use on our dump truck steps) to the top bar, to add traction when my boots were wet. I also added reflective tape to the steps to make it easier to see them while I'm climbing down after dark.

If you do, make sure you get one with a heat shield. I tried to save a couple dollars on my first one, and I never use it now 😁

The owner of JX3 worked with Guido's and bought the company when he retired. John made some improvements and created the JX3 from it.

The problem with that is the climber severely limits your hunting. With the JX3 you're not limited to straight limbless trees, like you are with a climber. With a climber you have to climb the tree. With the JX3 you have the option to tether in at the base of the tree or convert it to the ground seat and hunt from anywhere on the ground. When you kill a deer in the climber, you have to carry it out while dragging the deer. With the JX3, you simply bone it out and pack it out on the JX3.

It is comfortable. It helps you sit still so you see more deer.

Yep he's been chasing hard. I had him at 300 yards last Saturday trailing a doe but I had my .35Rem and I couldn't get him to come any closer

The little 6 point broke his beam right before opening day of gun season. I'm betting he's going to be a brawler when he gets older.

I've been watching this one for 3 years at my house. Saturday afternoon I had my cross hairs on him but he was 300 yards and I had my .35Rem so he was way out of range

It has a lineman rope attached to it but I didn't use it in this video. Shooting to your weak side, you can come over your bridge or simply move around the tree to make it a strong side shot. I didn't hunt this tree but backed off it, and hunted the trails coming to it. I had 11 deer come under me and missed a blowing doe 🤬. I had a big 8 that came by twice, but out of range.

I think it's been 5 years since I've shot a compound.

You don't have to start with training wheels traditional archery is way more fun.

I didn't run a down range camera because this was our scoring round and we were on a time limit for each station.

I use the ones that come with the JX3. The only thing I've changed is I use a Ropeman instead of the prussic. I don't believe any part of it is sketchy, but it does take a couple sits to fully trust the system. That's the same with any saddle though.

They can be used for self defense but they're not the best. That's why the Indians adopted guns as soon as they could. As far as what type to use, a crossbow will give the most range, a compound will give pinpoint accuracy and a longbow or recurve will give speed on follow up shots. You'll have to decide which one is the most important for you.
