Memories 😢

We camped there for over 22 years when it was just a vacant pasture. When I was just a kids, my uncle told me to enjoy every minute of it because one day it to would become commercialized. There is not a place in this “park” I have not traveled back then. We were there 4 weeks out of the year and a bunch of weekends. We camped, we didn’t use these trailer houses with AC/heat and lights. We had the old style cab over campers and slept on cots. Cooked by camp fire. We roughed it, we spent a bunch of 100 degree days under the shade trees there.

Born and raised in Kountze. Almost 62, I had the pleasure of knowing a few old timers who hunted, trapped and fished the area before it got disturbed by man. Thanks for sharing this.

This place felt like the Disney World of Texas State Parks. We were there on a weekend in late September and it was so busy.

We Have not had a chance to get by there yet we'll have to check it out sometime.

Very nice state park it is so neat to see tracks from millions of years ago preserved so well. We have seen some at Government Canyon State park as well.
