    Ben did what he did to stare down lynford he didn't "make a mistske" could it have gone wrong? Sure. Did it? I think we know the answer... Ben was setting the stage. You don't put your full power on display in the opening act...

    Matt Biondi is by far the most talented sprinter ever. His technique was negatively affected by years of waterpolo training.

    After that heat, I wonder if anyone at all thought he would even make the final, let alone go on to *win it and set a world record. *Yes, I know he was stri pped of both a couple days later.

    Ben has the fastest start.. ever. Charlie talks about this heat in speed trap.. apparently ben made charlie the most nervous man by running like this.. but big ben had it all covered

    • @diegoe.6342
      @diegoe.6342 4 года назад

      Facts. Ben had really good body awareness. I think in this race he ran 10.17 and he said once he crossed the line, he knew that he ran under 10.20.

    It wasn't top four to go through, it was only the top two from the six Round 2 heats, plus the four fastest losers that made it to the semi-finals. Johnson was the quickest of the fastest losers.

  • @Istinkofcheese
    @Istinkofcheese 12 лет назад

    I do not. If I recall (and its really testing my memory) he swam that in Morocco and it wasn't a 'big championship' like worlds or olympics, and all I ever saw was the last 10 meters in a news highlight. And the news clip wasnt all that high quality. I never saw or heard of any broadcasted copies even back in the day. I will try and tap all my resources but I am not overly optimistic on that one. Wish me luck.

    • @Parker528
      @Parker528 8 лет назад

      Not in Morocco, but in 94 in Monte Carlo in Monaco. It may have been been the Mare Nostrum meet in the spring of 94.

  • @Istinkofcheese
    @Istinkofcheese 12 лет назад

    I agree. Both were amazing no doubt, but I had the opportunity to race Popov and train with Biondi, and Biondi was incredible, and had a much different presence. I think the fact he was the first to break 49 and remain so dominant was part of that.

  • @JMott76
    @JMott76 12 лет назад

    @Istinkofcheese Thanks so much for posting! Classic stuff! Q: Do you also have Popov's 48.21? Can't find it anywhere...

  • @bordereye
    @bordereye 12 лет назад

    Biondi has been the strongest 100m swimmer ever (his 48.42 in 1988 was absolutely out of the world). IMHO Popov is second best.

  • @Istinkofcheese
    @Istinkofcheese 13 лет назад

    hahahah I sure do, and I also have Biondi going 22.02 in his semi's!!!! I take it you would like it posted as well? Ill try and get that up for you
