Insane!
Ben did what he did to stare down lynford he didn't "make a mistske" could it have gone wrong? Sure. Did it? I think we know the answer... Ben was setting the stage. You don't put your full power on display in the opening act...
can u give me a link where i can bye this type of tether pls i didn't found em anywhere
www.swimoutlet.com/products/strechcordz-long-belt-w-slider-1227 They use to be on Amazon too
thank uuu@@Istinkofcheese
Matt Biondi is by far the most talented sprinter ever. His technique was negatively affected by years of waterpolo training.
In the end, I found him, Mat Biondi is my Winner what ever is it...hehehe..
back when there was no such thing as LZR Racer. just a fair sport with simple diving suits
I fw the new generation tech suits though
1 dislike: Matt biondi
Race begins at 3:25 , you're welcome
That is seriously so fast for 1990
The head-condom helped over the last 20m.
After that heat, I wonder if anyone at all thought he would even make the final, let alone go on to *win it and set a world record. *Yes, I know he was stri pped of both a couple days later.
close race!
Easy the best ever in the 100m freestyle, today he would probably swim sub 46''50.
After the race, Christie ' s face said all! He tought something like this:"OMG, I have no chances against this guy [Ben Johnson]"
Head-to-head race where both guys go *well* under the world record? Not bad.
Imagine if they wore a LZR or some other fastskin
My 2 favorite sprinters of all time ! Adrian comes next Of course .... next Big one : Caeleb Dressel .
Predicting Dressel in 2014 😮
@@SovietYugoslav indeed , lol 😊😄
@@BlueHopi144 is the next big one Jack Alexy? Or maybe even Heilman?
@@SovietYugoslav Jack & Thomas are both very talented & lead Team Usa new generation of fabulous swimmers . Jack could be the next Big Sprinter Star with a similar frame body as Biondi .
It is so strange to see Rowdy Gaines swim, I am so used to normally seeing him as a commentator.
I like that. In 1988 10.12 was considered a "fast heat."
Im best friends with her daughter! :D

Ben has the fastest start.. ever. Charlie talks about this heat in speed trap.. apparently ben made charlie the most nervous man by running like this.. but big ben had it all covered
Facts. Ben had really good body awareness. I think in this race he ran 10.17 and he said once he crossed the line, he knew that he ran under 10.20.
thanks for uploading. that was amazing
He knew he was in a fast heat...
Average age of 84.75...respect!
clown costume @ 0:43
It wasn't top four to go through, it was only the top two from the six Round 2 heats, plus the four fastest losers that made it to the semi-finals. Johnson was the quickest of the fastest losers.
Ya thanks. The announcer explained all that before the start but good thing your here.
this is kick ass! thanks so much for uploading!
Thank you for you reply, it's a rare thing to hear from people who actually met those two greats. I suppose you were pretty good too then...
C how he jus gets thru did and then brakes world record
Thanks 4 that. Shame this great (for the time) performance may not have been properly recorded. Indeed I wish you luck ;0)
I do not. If I recall (and its really testing my memory) he swam that in Morocco and it wasn't a 'big championship' like worlds or olympics, and all I ever saw was the last 10 meters in a news highlight. And the news clip wasnt all that high quality. I never saw or heard of any broadcasted copies even back in the day. I will try and tap all my resources but I am not overly optimistic on that one. Wish me luck.
Not in Morocco, but in 94 in Monte Carlo in Monaco. It may have been been the Mare Nostrum meet in the spring of 94.
I agree. Both were amazing no doubt, but I had the opportunity to race Popov and train with Biondi, and Biondi was incredible, and had a much different presence. I think the fact he was the first to break 49 and remain so dominant was part of that.
@Istinkofcheese Thanks so much for posting! Classic stuff! Q: Do you also have Popov's 48.21? Can't find it anywhere...
Biondi has been the strongest 100m swimmer ever (his 48.42 in 1988 was absolutely out of the world). IMHO Popov is second best.
hahahah I sure do, and I also have Biondi going 22.02 in his semi's!!!! I take it you would like it posted as well? Ill try and get that up for you
